This might be a sideways move at best. I think this is more a negative move. Quincy Acy averaged 2 points a game in 14 minutes for a bad Sac team. Tyler has upside and can give those number easily. Your losing a PF/C with upside. I don't see the balancing of the roster with this move.
VCoug@ 8/6/2014 6:47 PM
Eh, I guess Acy is kind of an interesting prospect but I think I would have rather just have kept Ellington and his shooting.

CrushAlot wrote:Acy has freakish measurements. He is 6'6" but has just under a 7'3" wingspan and he has giant mitts. Love this move. Nice to have competent management.
That's all good for his size but he plays PF and that wingspan is probably avg at best. Tyler had a 7'5 wingspan.
Dagger@ 8/6/2014 6:53 PM
Seems like we gave up nothing to get nothing. Can't really complain but not excited about the move either.
nixluva@ 8/6/2014 6:54 PM
I think people are missing the point. Phil is trying to change the disposition of the team and adding some guys that are gonna bring energy and hustle. Jason Smith is that kind of guy as is Acy. Tyler has upside, but he's not quite the same type of player. I think Phil is determined to change the energy level of the team over time.

Nothing sexy but he got rid of Ellington which was what he wanted to do.
NO YOU DIDN'T.. lol YOU WENT from Jeremy tyler high upside, to "when is he going to get playing time".. I find this to be a trend around here when guys are shipped out.... so now Quincy Acy=good, and tyler= blah!!!
If Phil makes ten total moves this off-season, I guarantee you nixluva will love all ten of them!
You mean love all 11 of 10 moves made?
He'll go on to explain moves Phil is plotting as if they already happened and why they will work

I was never high on Tyler, but then again I'm just a fan. Tyler had zero motor so if Acy has a motor he's an upgrade IMO. Nothing about Tyler ever gave me confidence the kid would ever "put it all together" despite his considerable talents.
Okay so Tyler never was a high potential upside player?
All fabricated oversold imagination
Nevertheless ACY is much like Larkin.
He'll either lock in the books next year or he won't
Which means we may end up giving Ellington-Tyler-Pick for nothing.

There's really no fall back.

The pick wasn't ours to begin with...The Kings value the "pieces" they received so much that they're discarding both of them. Get a grip.

I saw Tyler play quite a bit in Summer League.
I wonder if the triangle was too much for him to grasp
Quincy also played this summer I believe
Yeah, I'm not sure if things will ever click for Tyler. The game moves faster than he can react, which renders him expendable. He did himself a major disservice by dropping out of high school because finishing his senior year and going to college might have given him the opportunity to gradually amp up his acuity for the game. Instead he went from 0mph to 500mph in the blink of an eye. In any case, the triangle was a poor fit for him because of these reasons....he should go to a team like the Bucks or Sixers where he can get plenty of playing time to hone his abilities.

The pick already belonged to the kings. The kings are waiving both guys they get in the trade. The deal for the Kings was for cap space. They have too many power forwards already. The kings extended the date for when Acy's contract had to be picked up. It probably was done so they could move him.

It was Top 37 protected.
If we're good 2015-2016 year they'd get, it if not we'd keep it
So in essence the pick was still ours.
It's very much the same nonchalant-cavalier attitude with the Bargs trade and the 2016 1st pick
We should have traded a 2018 second unprotected
We now for a certainty have no picks in 2016

You need a scrappy player, every championship team has one. tyler is a solid prospect, but he's not nearly as athletic as acy (just did a little research).
Go look at Phill jacksons championship rosters, they were far from talented, besides scottie, shaq, kobe, and MJ, everyone else knew there role and fit in so nicely..
Phil is not looking to get a deep talented team, he seems like he's looking for the right fit
Sort of like that line JAY-Z said "I don't buy the bright watch, I buy the right watch"

It would be funny if my quote wasn't actually right there for everyone to read. Both of you guys are saying things I never said. Up above my statement is clear. I said "just a move to add a little something to the roster we didn't have" I also said "Nothing sexy but..." So where did I say anything about Love. I simply described Acy for what he actually is... a LIVE BODY. You two clowns are the ones misrepresenting what i've said. Seems like you guys already have your minds made up about what I think. So it doesn't matter what I say nor how I say it, you're gonna make up ish to fit your opinion of me. That's fine but you both look stupid doing it. Keep it going tho. It only proves how vapid and cynical your posts are becoming this summer.

Imo though I think Phil has something he can get done at anytime, but is bolstering the bench first.

1) Ellington vs Outlaw is basically a wash. I would prefer to have Ellington, but with the glut of guards, they are just re-configuring the guys sitting at the end of the bench. Best of luck to Ellington, we hardly knew you.
2) Tyler vs Acy is a near wash, getting a bit smaller and more defensive. I think one thing people missed was that Tyler is a UFA after this season, Acy is a RFA. In that regard, he has more asset value off the court (assuming all other things are relatively equal). For me, I liked the youthfulness of Tyler and wanted to see him develop. I think that is somewhat replaced with Acy.
3) 2016 pick no longer protected. I guess if we fall into the lottery in 2016 and get a pick 1-8 (and give them both up), the sky will truly have fallen. Given that we have a 2015 target for our capspace, if this was what was necessary to get a deal done, ok. I dont really believe we gave anything up. That said, the toss in of picks is a bad habit. I am not sure why this deal could not get done without the toss in.
Looking forward to seeing Acy's energy. Where does he project in the rotation?

He'd likely be a backup pf or even sf since he has been working on his jumper with OK range.
i think the deal was made entirely for him, although Outlaw might be a pleaseant suprise if Phil and Fish can bring him back from a long slumber.

I understand Top 37 to mean Top 37.
A 37th pick is a somewhat high second rounder
This would only go to a team who had a bad record 2015-2016
So if we were bad this season we'd keep it, if we were good they get it
What I mean by good, in the playoffs.
Technically they could have received the pick even if we missed the playoffs[8th worst record]
