It's been 3.5 flipping years, the guys that were moved have not gone on to prove to be as good let alone better and the draft picks lost haven't proven that they will better or have any longevity.

Problem is that the trade was followed a few years later by him announcing his intention to opt out before the season, and then getting the contract he got.
"Next five years..." The no-trade clause and trade penalty makes it doubtful that he will be traded, but he managed to get a player option for the 5th year, and who knows what he will decide to do. I only know that whatever he does will be for his benefit, even if it hurts this franchise.
You cannot think about Anthony and the trade, without thinking about Anthony and his new contract- they are perfect bookends for Anthony's career as a Knick.
This is not something I will dwell on unless we see future examples of roster inflexibility because of the contract, Anthony decides, for some reason, that he doesn't want to be part of an offensive system, and keeps the ISO mentality, or more threads like this one pop up.

The deal is done and it's over. I want to enjoy next season. I don't want to be acting like I got an ax to grind. Some people on this forum will never let it go but if we become a winning team, then they will only come out from under their bridge is when we lose.
Melo and Knicks are now like Siam twins.
If one half will do bad so the other will suffer.
This can go Alan Huston/STAT way, can go Joe Jonson way, or can go better... may be.

Knicks were a losing team for 10 years. Since Melo has been here they had 3 winning seasons, and each year they got better. Obviously last year was a setback but it certainly seems to be one step back and two forward with the frontoffice changes. The MDA fiasco aside Melo has performed very well. Now he's got the support of Phil Jackson and has signed on knowing its going to be a team concept first and the style of play was going to change. So now its up to him to produce. Im rooting like hell for him and the Knicks to succeed. There are a few very vocal folks who would prefer to see the Knicks fail with Melo than succeed with him, but thats their problem.
