I'm curious to see how this affects him. If he's significantly quicker and can get some easier looks, this could be beneficial. If not, this could end up possibly hurting him imo

Nah he's clearly bigger in the chest and slimmed overall.

Bullyball didn't produce enough meaningful wins, gotta try something different 12yrs later
That big ass wrap on his knee though. o_O

ha ha 12 years can you teach an old dog new tricks? it's good he finally lost the weight but does he have the willingness to have his atrocious decision-making taken out of his control? does he have the bbiq to make the most of the opportunities to finally be a decent team player?
these are the 124,000,000 dollar questions.

To be quite frank he's been slim before heading into a season and out of shape.
I'm interested in, in season conditioning////continued body maintenance on top of the things you mentioned
Does anyone remember the Black and White pic of Melo practicing with CP3 and Blake a couple yrs ago.
He looked good then

I think last year really took a toll on him. He was player of the month in April the previous two seasons.
A lot is made of Melo's decision making but a lot of that is also about the choices that a player is presented with. The beauty of how Phil wants the Knicks and Melo to play is that the decision making is simplified. The decisions are made clearer as the team has a better understanding of what they're looking to do as a unit.
This if perhaps the best execution of a scheme Melo will be a part of as the Pres, GM and Head Coach are all in sync on the game plan. Everything is being directed towards the same goal. Phil said he wants to have Melo doing more BB things. Not just looking to score every time he touches the ball, but running the offense, cutting and looking for cutters etc. The Triangle features a lot of specific motion and players will have clear options in this offense. Players don't have to make stuff up and freelance with a high degree of failure. Rather they make prescribed moves based on the defense and they all are on the same page as to what is gonna happen. Once they all master the system it should work to make Melo a better player and he should help make his teammates better.
Nix some ppl think for the money melo is making he shouldn't have one single weakness.
He should be able to score like kobe, defend like mutumbo, run like cheater, dunk like jordan, pass like stockton, and lead like a president.
Until then he's highly overpaid, selfish, is only here for the money and fame, doesn't care about championships and should come off the bench..

Wait if losing weight proves that the player wasn't in supreme shape, then Lebron wasn't?

I posted several images last year and Melo looked trim without the padding.
I imagine he loss about 5-10 lbs but it would surprise me if it is any more than that.
I really do not see that much of a difference between the two pictures. Players are surprised by Melo strength for a reason because at his size he doesn’t look to be so strong. I mean maybe he is in better shape for playing the 3 in the triangle. I’d imagine he has changed his routine to fit the role he will play in the triangle. Maybe he added more high intensity interval training to help with all the cutting and moving he will do in the offense.
I see one of the player development personnel guys was down in PR to work with the guys. So its good they are following the knicks vision based on what the coaches want.

This is a pic in February of Lebron. He looks thin in this picture pose too. I am sure he has loss weight but its not the amount most think.

Nobody has said any of this. I would think though that that type of dough, I wouldnt expect scrub type playoff shooting percentages since scoring is his best attribute.
Lebron really isn't a big dude, his weight is in muscle. He's much more defined that Melo.

No!
Lebron was the other extreme of being in shape
He was a near starting NFL tight end on his was to/////
Mr. Olympian body builder, get real!
Now if you want to question Lebron juicing go for it, this may be a more logical retort

He's much more defined than probably every athlete(exaggeration).
Athletes carry weight differently and can reshape their body and still weigh the same. People carry weight differently. Looking thinner or being thinner does not mean that you are in better shape. Melo has taken his condition seriously throughout his career and I am sure he is doing things to fit into the role Phisher wants him to be in.

There's quite a few cut/defined players in the NBA...people look at leBron and figure he's a freight train. he isnt that at all.
Melo usually does come into camp in shape which is a basic expectation for any NBA player, but I will say for his role he has to maintain it throuout the season. I cant say melo comes in in prime basketball sahpe though as he isnt truly built as a basketball player
