It's just showing the bottom 100 right now?
Cole as the 421st best NBA player?!
These rankings are such BS- I wish they'd just replace them with 'ESPN's (or whatever the website is thats doing them) Favourite Players'- it's more honest and accurate- that's all these lists are. How can you honestly calculate a 421st best player?! Just ridiculous- it's meaningless past the top 20.
It's not ESPN's favorite players. The people doing the ratings aren't ESPN employees. It's the ratings of NBA writers. ESPN calculated each player's mean rating and listed them up to 500 - the individual writers weren't ranking the players from 1 to 500.

Then 'NBA Writers Favorite Players'

NBA finals for sure, whoo hoo!!
I wonder if they give writers to option to not rate a specific player. I sincerely doubt that even the most diligent of writers knows enough about every single player on this list to fairly rate every one. Especially in that bottom 100 group.

Really most are concerned with
Who falls in the Top 50, 25, 10, 5
I think ESPN last year did a good job
If I recall where they had players ranked
I remember Curry and Westbrook being ranked high
Of course if Melo, Calderon, and THJR land high
ESPN all of a sudden becomes very credible
Yeah, really, why would Melo land high? SMH

Okay maybe your day is going slow motion
I'm speaking in regards to Melo being ranked
15 or higher, I think he's ranked right at 15 this yr
Of course don't go batty if he happens to be ranked
18th and someone like Anthony Davis is ranked 12th
I see several players making major leaps from last yr's spot

What I found bizarre a year or two ago was one of the criticism of Melo was his lack of defense and playoff success (fair enough), but then they ranked Kevin Love higher!

you wouldnt be happy unless he was ranked 1
Espn hates ny sports.. Espn loves bashing them when their bad and ignores them when their good... I think it's something we've all grown accustom to...

These aren't espn's ratings though. They just collected the rankings gathered from People who cover the NBA and listed them up to 500. See Bonn's post above

I don't see how they hate us
They do have a Sub Page
Dedicated totally to New York sports coverage
1 of like what 5 markets?
These rankings will be more of the same. Melo rated lower than he deserves, no one else is the top 100 probably. Melo loses at least 5 slots in the rankings just for playing in Ny. If he was a Bull, he would likely have a much higher rating.

It doesnt really matter to be honest most of these lists are bogus. Hopefully Melo steps up his game on both ends of the court and the he will get the ESPN perks

ESPN is specifically recruiting Melo haters to do the ratings!

But what if he ends being Top 5?
He has a resume of a Top 5 right?

Ha!
I don't really have a problem with his positioning- I think people can make cases for him to be slightly higher or slightly lower. What bothers me is the same thing that bothered me a couple of years ago- they say the reason why Melo is marked down is lack of playoff success and defense, but then they go and rank Kevin Love higher- at least be consistent in your reasoning. It's not so much I think melo is too low, but rather Kevin Love is too high until he;s proved he can be part of a winning team and can win in the playoffs.
Like I said earlier these polls are just favorite players, and I don't have problem with that if they are honest about it- just don't go claiming it's anything other than that.

I'm sure that's just one of many factors that actually influence the ratings, and they don't post everything.
Anyway, they have lots of writers giving their ratings. Then one author interprets why the players ranked where they did and writes an article. Maybe he just guessed wrong as to why Melo was ranked where he was.
