You think Kobe would give NY a discount

After what he just received from L.A. Pre Boom New CBA

This washed up better than he think he is Bum

Needs to break the All-Time scoring record and hang em up

That's all he's playing for right now

why? don't we already have shumpstar at the 2?

Right now Shumpert is by far out best option at SG because of his defense and it won't wreck games like JR.

I would gladly move Shumpert to the bench for Kobe. An established 2-way hall of famer

but scoring 5 points or less in 37 games, going scoreless in 8 games and shooting below 40% doesnt wreck games either? I know you love Shump but you gotta put the pipe down. Or at least pass it to me.

For Amare or BARGNANI it would be a no brainer

No not by shooting 5-6 shots a game. JR wrecks games with his constant 3 for 18 games. Shump doesn't ignore the system to get his. His shots come from ball movement. He just has to work on his mechanics so he can consistently knock them down. It ain't that hard. Fortunately Phil and Derek see this. He is starting over JR AND THJ for a reason. No offense but I trust there opinion over anyone here

So is Phil doing a rebuild or not?

If he is, Kobe with the most expensive contract in the NBA is part of that plan?

If yes, then the argument is Kobe is a better piece than any other FA on the open market next season?

Can anyone pumping this Kobe idea actually explain how all of these can be answered Yes?

gunsnewing @ 10/27/2014 2:48 PM
Listen we are not going to be under the cap until the summer of 2016 anyway. Kobe's contract will also be expiring at that same time.

No relevant free agent is going to want to join Melo and a couple mediocre draft picks. They may not win it all but Kobe will make us relevant. Then we can go after guys like Durant etc. Kobe can sign for the mini mid level, retire or play for a 3rd team and get his scoring record.

I don't see why anyone would want amare or Bargnani over Kobe. Kobe would be great for Phil & Derek to set the foundation of success and the system.

Forget about being players in 2015. There are no worthwhile free agents. 2016 is the year

Real talk

F500ONE @ 10/27/2014 2:58 PM
Oh Boy guns sometimes I tell ya

You'll make posts and break them down

As if it's on the brink of happening or should happen

gunsnewing @ 10/27/2014 3:00 PM
If it were to happen those would be the reasons.

Kobe is old
Kobe is bad for chemistry

Is simple minded

yellowboy90 @ 10/27/2014 3:08 PM
The Knicks better get an unprotected 1st and some 2nd round picks.

I would take Kobe in a trade if it was like this:

LA trades- Kobe, (unpro.) 1st rd pick, 2 future 2nd rd picks, and Lin

NY trades- Amar'e, Jr Smith, Calderon

So, essentially you're saying, rebuilding through free agency for the next two years is not happening and we can deal with that the season after next so let's have some fun with Kobe for the next two seasons while we wait, because though he's not really part of the master plan anyway (because by 2016 he'll be serving fries anyway), but boy it would be cool to have him until then so why not shoot our wad on his ridiculous contract.

Your working off preseason.... no clue yet if Shump starts or starts but doesnt get starters minutes, or they start him for a pump and dump as its most likely this is his last year as a Knick.
gunsnewing @ 10/27/2014 3:27 PM
No that's not what I'm saying. We can be good and maybe even compete in the ECF. Maybe not win it all but at least we will have some semblance of a winning culture to attrack free agents in the summer of 2016

Or we can just continue to win 30-40 games, finish between the 6-10 seed and continue to land mediocre draft picks.

There are 2 solutions:

1 is water under the bridge once we paid Melo. We are not tanking with this present team
2 we trade for Kobe

The worst place to be is where we are now. 34-44 wins playing amare, barg & JR because of their contracts when they are not part of the future. And the young guys are not blue chip prospects. You can't build around this current group of youngsters.

Right now we are in limbo. In no mans land. Kobe changes that. The End.

gunsnewing @ 10/27/2014 3:32 PM
Also Calderon expires the summer of 2016. Everything falls into place if we manage to trade for Kobe

How does Kobe = New Culture that attracts FA's in 2016? If Kobe adds a few wins, that doesn't attract anything.

Paying Melo does not automatically = Not Tanking if it means just this season to get what we need for a real turnaround. A real turnaround in Melo's case, and what he claimed to stay a Knick for, is not a band-aid called Kobe that will be yanked off the scab after next season and leave the rebuild nowhere, particularly when you may have to give up value to get someone.

This idea the Lakers will take all of our trash for Kobe seems to be the convenient assumption.

And, yes, what I said is exactly what you're saying. Two years of In-Between, shoot the budget on Kobe. That is what I said you're saying because it is.

You rebuild with players who will be here more than a couple of seasons. Kobe is not a rebuild. He's a ballboy fantasy, not a plan.

Splat @ 10/27/2014 3:38 PM
Anyway, Kobe doesn't make us contenders. IMO. If any of you believe he does, OK, so be it. Seems completely farfetched to me.
gunsnewing @ 10/27/2014 3:40 PM
What Kobe gives you in every aspect of the game vs what amare or bargnani gives you is like night and day..

It's a no brainer for the Knicks. Not sure how the Lakers would feel about this

That's not what the trade off would be

It would be goodbye Chump, Smithereens, Timbuggy jr

But Kobe's ego and salary is a No No

You should take Phil and Jeannie Buss out for a drink and ask them that question.
