Not that we didn't know
But now the national media is picking up on this
This essentially locks Marc Gasol
Into the $17-19mil max slot next year
I guess it's a matter of will Gasol ask for opt outs and kickers
Hope the best for you Phil, we can't save you here
This dude is not worth 17-19 mil.... he's 14th and 7 rebounds a game. I understand he can pass and defend and brings intangibles, but he's also injury prone and slow footed. Take off 5 million 12-14 is about right.
The Knicks have cap space for the first time since 2010. I think they will be 'linked' to most decent free agents. The guy that wrote the story writes a column called the Grizzlies insider. I don't think that is national media. But, did anyone here not expect to hear that the Knicks would be interested in Gasol? Wasn't it speculated that Gasol would want to play with Jose?

New TV deal will inflate everyone going forward. Memphis best player and they make noise in the playoffs regardless of Rudy Gay or who is coaching. Paired well with Z-Bo.
Faith in Phil. If he wants him, good. If not, good.
Its not on Dolan anymore!
Replace Gasol's legs with a pair of chariot wheels and then we're cooking in oil.
Who's available in 2016 besides Durant? I rather wait until then
if pau like phil, then that should help land gasol but marc has really close ties to memphis.
chances are he stays in memphis and knicks go after monroe.
He's good and a great half court player but he's not a max contract. Not at his age. No way no how.

Agreed. Id love to have im but not for the max. I think Phil is gonna be careful about who he uses the max for.

Yeah I'm not enamored with the idea of signing a
Sophisticated Plodder taking 80-90% of our cap space
As far as national media picking up on it
Once it hits RealGM from a local source even at a county level
It becomes national media by default
How many execs have gone on record stating they check Hoopshype or RealGM for legit news
DeAndre Jordan at 26-27 is the way to go if you want overspend.

I was thinking.....
Amare and Bargs for Zach and Marc still doesn't work under the cap....Memphis would still have to throw someone in there to make it work. That's just insane. If Memphis really wanted to save money. .....

Noah, I believe. Durant, Melo, and Noah in the triangle? Could be pretty sweet!

Younger and a little cheaper

Noah is Amare part 2. His legs are breaking right now as we speak. Great player but pass.

Noah would be good just makes sure
The contract is written up with some protection
The fact he's held up way better than D-Rose, maybe the better player
At almost half the cost is good enough

I didnt realize he had knee problems. That is definitely not good. Too bad cause he is a NYer and it could be appealing to play here. He's also perfect for the triangle assuming we're still running it in 2 years. Great passer.
Gasol would be very good for the triangle but his long term health scares me and I would love to move away from putting to much into one guy.
I want the solid/efficient 10-12 million dollar players.
