Yes, he is a star and he is ours, howsineva...
Why should any offense be overly dependent on one player?
Surely, in this egalitarian system, Head Coach Derek Fisher can coach up nine guys to score 8-10 points a game.
Well the last 2 games he sure has. The previous 2 games he bought into the system and the team did well and he got big buckets off better shots. For some reason against Washington he reverted back to iso melo which means a loss for us
Trying to teach an old dog new tricks. I think benching Melo is an option.

I hope you r f*cking kidding us, if not just stop posting such crap. Sh*t like this is why it is so hard to read this forum at times.
Why does the triangle in NY have to be any different then it was in Chicago or LA? Jordan, Kobe, and Shaq were pretty ball dominant on those teams and it seemed to work out just fine for those teams. I realized those team had waaayyyyyy better rosters, but my point is the talk about Melo needing to learn to share and give up the ball is greatly exaggerated when looking at Phil's other teams and their success.
Also, looking at our roster, the Knicks lack anybody who can consistently knock down a mid-range jumper or 3 pointer. Makes it impossible to drive. Defenses are packing it in. We had the same problem last year.

How can he be when/////
Fisher's Rotations Have Been Near Flawless
We all read it was going to take a while.
We all read even when Melo said it would take a while.
We all read after 3 games that even Phil said he was suprised by the first two wins.
And now after 5 games panic sets in, we extropolate the present into the future and some talk of benching Melo? For who???
Guys, this team is not very good. Even when Jose and Bargs come back, their inclusion will also take some time to get chemistry going. 4 game in 5 days means no practice time either.
We all read when it was said it would be a rough go this season for some time.
I don't think you keep tinkering, you go with the plan. Does it matter if we win 23 games or 32 games? Most important is at some point the triangle becomes instinct. That might not be enough to win a ton of game but its the "Knick way" going forward and the roster will evolve.
If some of you want to freak out.........Have at it.

This is the problem, he has been breaking the system and the system is much bigger than one player. He should not be given priority. I believe it sets a bad precedence that he can jack shots up and others get scrutinized. This is inefficient Melo, it's up to the coach to reign in inefficient Melo and save him from himself. Last night was a case where Melo needed about 10-15 minutes less. That would have been the difference between winning and losing.

Was he no the floor in the 4th qtr? They scorred 36 points. No loss is a good loss but they came back and made it a game.
Gonna take time, yo. We should avoid getting our panties all in a bunch after a couple of losses. Let's let it roll for a few weeks, then we can start assessing Melo's impact. The dude wants to win and he's committed to a system that is the OPPOSITE of his natural tendencies and established approach. Cut him some slack.

No slack.
124 million reasons to judge his every move. It comes with the price tag.
It's a good thing we locked him up for 5yrs at
ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY-FOUR MILLIONS DOLLARS
EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS PER QUARTER

Who was doing the scoring and who was doing the missing. Who was forcing the action?
he had a horrible shooting night. 8 assits and 6 boards. It happens. Also there is not one single consistent scoring threat on the team next to Melo after.... yup thats right... Amare.
So again, when there is a second player (god forbid a third) who actually puts pressure on the opposing defense what you see is what you get. Too bad we waisted our one of out of every four good shooting nights from Timmy. Oh well
Granted, Melo has sucked azz the last two games, but in fairness to Fish and the whole team I'd at least like to see if a healthy Calderon can get a groove going and then see if Melo is in compliance with the game plan.
If Jose does all the right things and Melo still pulls crap like this, then I think he should be handled with more authority by Fish. If that becomes the case, it will be a test of Fish's leadership and will.
Though no Melo fan, I hope it doesn't come to that, because then we're in for a long, long, miserable 4-5 years if the star player is uncoachable.

This is how professional athletes are paid. The NBA salaries will likely only increase in the new CBA. Additionally, the Players Association told the fools "taking less" in tax free states to stop. If you are not happy with how the players are paid, it is probably best to find a new hobby because the price tags are gonna go up.

I got no problem with people making money but how exactly do these figures help the Knicks and their current mess of a roster? No blue chip talent, no flexibility

Yeah, heard it all before about NBA price tags, but Melo isn't worth what he is paid relative to other talents. Sure, some donkey hits the jackpot every year when a GM foolishly pays up, but we're talking about Max for a one-dimensional player. So, those numbers are a fine reminder of what you're getting for your money. All the same, if you don't like those numbers, its just facts, not fiction, so it goes both ways amigo.

No matter what the cap is there will always be overpaid Gilbert Arenas, Rasheed Lewis and Melo types

So if Monroe or Gasol are pursued
To save us from Melo
Breakdown how much they should be paid
