No need to panic yet.
6 games in so far.....we took it to Cleveland and Charlotte. Two playoff caliber teams.... not many teams are at their best. We're not at 100% regardless of whatever sarcastic jab you have for the team.
We need to get healthy to better gauge what we're dealing with.
we always could make a trade.... maybe Kobe or someone else.
If we start clicking, we make the playoffs. If we don't we get a lottery pick. We will have super cap space next year.
How are we in a bad situation? This is the best situation we've been in since the summer we got Sprewell and Camby.
No team is ever healthy, still no excuse why the player who are arent competing. This team has 12 healthy players, Fisher plays them every game.
It's not a matter of being in a bad situation. No matter what happens this year...the team has things it hasnt had in a long time....their own draft pick and an opportunity to sign some players.
Now whether the team is on the right path...debatable. Not a fan of the triangle at all, and quite honestly each game I'm losing the little fandom I have in Melo who's locked in for another 5 years.
Agreed
But the perspective it ends right there
We're on the path, the key is to actually get moving down the path
If Phil starts acquiring assets this path gets brighter
I'm losing just a little faith on the cap space harvest
I don't see the franchise changers out there
Or the ones who could be we won't be able to attain them
I'll take a shot of positivity. Heck why not
Time is on our side.
We can't make the off season get here any faster.
We also have a shit load of new players plus a new system....it's absolutely not fair to say this team is a flop this early. Not only do they hand to gel, but they have to grasp this system.
our guys are competing....I don't see any players dogging it out there. Alot of these losses have more to do with the new system and players than what the other team is doing.
Let's get to December first. It hasn't been 2 weeks into the season yet! Damn it is only been 9 days!

Agreed. It'd be nice to make the playoffs, but it won't make a difference in the long run. We need to instill a culture of professionalism this year. If we pick up a helpful peice along the way fine. Our roster is what it is. We only have one player on the roster who definitely coukd've started for any of the teams who competed in the conference finals last year. Maybe two, if Scottie Brooks were to start Shump over Thabo. No matter how many ways you move around the crap on this roster it's still going to make crap. As long fans accept this, they can appreciate the rebuild.., er, i mean retooling that's taking place.
i don't think we're winning 50 doe

We're definitely winning 50 quarters this season. We won 2 last night.
Any really think Melo would NOT have problems adjusting??
That JR Smith would be a cornerstone leader?
Either Bargs or Amare missing games?
And if so, that games would be lost.
It's win win, to me- I enjoy watching us win games and make the playoffs, but if we stink it up hopefully we'll get a good draft pick.
Fish must just keep on insisting on playing the way he wants the team to play. The ball moves much more than last year and that's great. I hope we end up in the lottery and get lucky. With the cap space on top of it we will get better, no doubt. It's all about culture change, winning is a plus not a must.
as long as melo is here the triangle is in peril, and if the triangle is in peril then the knicks are going to remain a stunning mediocrity.

It will be interesting if mentions of the triangle coming out of Fish, Phil and MSG start to taper off and then disappear altogether when they finally concede they don't have the players for it. Not predicting this, but it feels like a possibility now.

They honestly havent run the triangle much at all this season. The elements we do see are basic elements of organized basketball.

Oh I agree. Bless Nixluva's optimistic soul, but he was insisting they've been running it. And I'm like um, barely

I kinda feel bad for him, even he knows this team sucks at this point, he's just banking on Calderon making things easier on offense. The issue with that is if the team is in fact running the triangle then the ball WONT be in calderon's hands exclusively.
The funny part is no one is really turning over the ball now, the assists are up and the ball movement certainly is there. They are losing because 1) they dont play a lick of team defense which involves helping and the majority arent playing good man defense. Then they take the bulk of their shots on the worst location of the floor...the midrange.

They are ruining it every time down. It doesn't look very good but they are running the triangle.

Funny part is the Knicks ate actually playing better defense this year and the triangle calls for most of the shots be taken mid range. You have no idea what you are talking about

Actually the triangle offense comes from the low post, the primary reason why they traded Chandler...he cant shoot or pass. If you actually believe the triangle is driven by the most inefficient shot in basketball you're clueless about the system.
It's nearly a requirment that all players on the floor have a post game in the triangle. It does give players the green light to play their natural games but the structure of scoring comes from near the basket not from the mid range.
Envy, is it really necessary to tell people they don't know anything about basketball? Saying the point of the Triangle is to generate predominantly mid-range shots is not accurate at all and it is certainly not a clever way of validating this season's shot chart. Having a center who can pass and hit the mid-range is ideal in the system, because centers often float into that range anyway, but that's an aspect of their position more than the system itself.
