I was pleasantly surprised to see that someone with a microphone finally shined the light on our defensive issues. He (Wally) used THJ and Amare's poor defensive fundamentals to illustrate his points. I know that our boys cant play defense, but for a coach not to be able to see the same ineptitude I and others have seen is alarming.
Fisher needs to go back to the drawing board and does nothing but coaching defensive fundamentals for the rest of the season. Forget about teaching triangle offense until all of our boys learn the basic concept of defending. Things such as: knowing where the guy you are defending is at all times; maintaining one arm length from him as distance; move when he moves; NO MORE HELP DEFENSE.
Furthermore, he needs to coach these boys to CRASH THE BOARD when the ball is released instead of sprinting back without attempting to go for a rebound. Reward only players who are willing to adhere to those coaching and once it is second nature to all of our players, then he (Fisher) can worry about coaching the TRIANGLE OFFENSE.
BASIC PRINCIPLES
You simply can't teach people how to walk before they learn how to crawl.
******SHINED THE LIGHT*********
If Zerb only identified these 2 as our
Examples of horrific defenders then someone needs
To fire Z and tell him maybe he can find work in Minny
Besides Amar'e admitted Mike Woodson taught him everything about defense
I bet Wally was sippin dat cool-aid then

The entire team is bad (minus Shumpert and Larkins) as it relates to defense. If Larkins was a couple of inches taller, he would have been a hell of a defender. He fights to get over screens and is constantly chasing the ball. Shump does have decent fundamentals, but a little too over aggressive at times.

Shumpert is a bad defender for the 2014-2015 season
His defensive numbers don't even match his rookie season
Stop naming guys based on rep and actually watch the games
Shump personally admitted he played awful defense last yr too
I could care less about fundamentals, defense is
Mainly about effort and court awareness
Our opponents are shooting 46%fg[23rd in the league] and 43%fg(3pt)[the worst in the league]

They said the same about TYSON and he's doing pretty well now on a team that plays team defense

A team that is well coached. Carlisle is a hell of a COACH. He is not a ROOKIE

He maybe the most underrated coach in the league.
By the way, Tyson was always known to be a pretty good defender. Woody is not a good coach, as a result, he tarnished many of the guys he got to coach. They have all developed some very bad habits. I can't believe he is now part of the CLIPPERS coaching staff. Maybe coach Rivers can help him learn how to be a better coach.

Well maybe just maybe Phil should dial up Dallas
Again and give us ALF and another asset and call it good
Or maybe Phil should have hired a lead assistant off
Their team to not have us in the doldrums of the league defensively

Carlisle proved his value 10yrs aniv of Melee ago
You know when his Top 3 players were suspended for 25-30% of the season
And he still got them in the playoffs
Frank Vogel is staring this result dead in the face as we speak
That's why when I hear Nix and others talk about guys missing[Calderon & Barfani of all players]
And the absolute thrashing we took from K-Mart and the UFOs last night, I get incensed with anger

NO MORE HELP DEFENSE. Because that=WOODY
Carlisle has a good team and they listen to him. He's also evolved. He also got ran out of Detroit and Larry Brown won a title went to b2b finals with the same core of players. He's also got a lot of first round exits with Dallas.
Good coaches like Carlisle, Vogel, thibodeau, and others always find ways to get maximum output out of marginal talents. It is all about coaching. Great coaches inspire players to be good and go out every night to play hard.
Knicks should have hired Mark Jackson
Carlisle should have been coach of the year just because of Monta Ellis
Our defensive ineptitude the last six years have much to do with D'anthony. We assembled this roster to fit his run and gun style, and we are now paying for it. The Lakers too are in the same predicament.
