They both love to shoot the ball, but don't put the same energy on defense. Except that Jamal always possessed a sick handle. Given that he is struggling to adjust under fisher's coaching; Will it be a mistake to let him go in his second year? Personally,I believe it would be a mistake to trade him.
U wish? THJ still has the chance of becoming a better player then Jamal. He is younger and has much to learn.
I think he can become a really good 6th man for this team in the next couple of years so in that regard I think he is similar to Crawford. Obviously you trade him in the right deal but I would like to see us keep him long term and develop him into that role.

Let me know when that happens

I think he can be better then a six man. Specifically, if he can get with a defense minded coach to train him as hard as possible.
That's optimistic but, yes, okay, fine: THJ aka Crawford 2.0.
This is where we need some Phil Jackson intervention He's the gm he's the man. How about Phil gets off his ass and instead of hoping the knicks get a road win on twitter. Come back and send thj down to the d league for 5 games with the hope that we can restart his fundamentals and game He was our promising player. I really am taken back. He played well as a rookie looked as if he was becoming a scoring sensation in sl and then he is crp? We need a blood transfusion and management leadership here Phil. Get thj going

We need that defensive player we drafted. Seems like he would help the team more than Thj....with his defense alone.....both excel in the open court.....and right now both cant shoot. Seems like a good swap.

Who are you referring to as the defensive player we drafted?

Just like he did for Carmelo, I believe Phil needs to reach out to Hardaway and help him figure it out. Granted, he is not getting consistent minutes from Fisher to work his way out of the slump. Furthermore, I think there is something else going on that we've not made aware off. Right after preseason it was reported that he was injured, maybe that is the reason for the funk that he is in. Either way, Phil needs to speak with him.
It was reported that Hardaway Jr had some inflammation in hip, and lately his left shoulder has been heavily taped.

I was a mistake to let Crawford go , it was a mistake to let Xack Randolp go, It was a mistake to let david Lee go, It was a mistake to let Nate Robinson go it was a mistake to let Fry go. What did we gain?? Our problem is that we are too quick to get rid of our young.

crawford is still inconsistent, and he was the king of off season talk when he was here. crawford off the bench is fine, however the knicks were not good enough to have him do that. dont miss him. randolph without structure seems to turn into a head case. dont think dantoni would have provided that if he stayed and not sure if randolph/lee could have meshed. randolph has that structure where he is. not sure it makes sense to think cuz its working where he is now (both lee and zach), he would have made it work here. dont miss nate at all. frye was and is still a big ole softy. i dont think these guys would not have put this team over combined and didnt when they were here as they were being asked to fill much larger roles than they could handle/bad coaches/bad everything. they had to go in order to make attempts to find guys who could handle things and the FO failed to do it.
that said, letting the new kids grow is needed. they need to see what these kids can do. they didnt really do this well in the run to 2010, and it would not be good to repeat that in the 2015 run up.

Wont speak about the other but Crawford and Zach wernt problems here...they competed and gave effort every night. even Nate while being immature always competed. these cats we got now can say that at all.
The term "sophomore slump" is often applied to second year players for a reason.
As per the dictionary,
[b]A sophomore slump or sophomore jinx refers to an instance in which a second, or sophomore, effort fails to live up to the standards of the first effort. It is commonly used to refer to the apathy of students (second year of high school, college or university),[1][2] the performance of athletes (second season of play), singers/bands (second album),[3] television shows (second seasons) and movies (sequels/prequels).
Therefore, it is behooved the Knicks not to trade THJ at least until his forth season.

randolph and lee didnt mix well. you couldnt run one of them at c to keep both on the floor without some bad d. crawford was 20+ one game, 1-13 the next. fall away threes as the shot clock expires... theyve got that guy now. i dont miss any of those guys given the environment as it existed would not have allowed for things to go well. had they hired a diff coach, things could have gone differently. contracts were coming up or were to run over into 2010, so the choice was stick with guys who together i dont think would have had a chance to contend or make a run for the 2010 border. didnt work, however i dot mind the chance they took unloading those guys. i hated the mcgrady trade though.
as it applies to timmy/early/guys not getting mins (i know early is out), i would like to see that change. i would like to see them try and find some role players in a down year rather than rolling out jon bender types. just hope these guys seeking mins are putting in the effort such that the staff sees it. so much of a mess here. are they getting inconsistent mins cuz they arent good, bad practice habits, coaches in over their heads making poor decisions, etc....
No, Crawford at least passes a little bit, Hardaway is a complete black hole.
VCoug wrote:No, Crawford at least passes a little bit, Hardaway is a complete black hole.
Crawford has been in the league for about 12 years. He did not learn to pass the ball until his days in Atlanta; which by the way was his 10th team and his 100th head coach.

14 actually. His rookie year he put up 2.3 assists/game in 17 mpg. In Hardaway's rookie year he put up 0.8 assists/game in 23 mpg.

I did say that Crawford was a better ball handler than THJ.

All of the players I mentioned played important minuets for a team that has a winning record better than us.Teams can't wait to play us. They mark it up as a win.
