Since Eric Gordon is out probably until trade deadline

Jimmer and 1st 4 Shump

Pelicans are not giving up a first for shump (at least I don't think they will).

I will take really good and adequate.

Agree ... very few 2 wayers.

Which is why we shouldn't just throw Shumpert to the curb and keep trying to develop and own 2 way player

right now Shump is just an adequate defensive player and a below average offensive player.

He should be given the rest of the year. No one is sold on THJ as starting SG because of his glaring defiencies. Next year I want this....

Draft a big and get Reggie Jackson to play SG and break down defenses with his ability to score from anywhere and get to the line

Calderon
Reggie
Melo
Ok4/Towns/Dakari/Stein
Servicable PF/C

in the mix:
shump, THJ, Wear, Thanasis, Early, Larkin

Reggie Jax seems like a terrible 3 point shooter. I think that will hurt him. Love his aggression in general though.

True but I think he can improve. His 3 ball was on the uptick for his career and this season is not over plus his dribble drive game is needed. Basically he either stays a Derozen/Ellis type player or improves into a bigger athletic version of Lowry. For Lowry's first few season he was a terrible 3pt shooter but he was able to improve. Some players can(really every player should over their career) but other players just need to cut out shooting threes all together like Wade and to a lesser extent Derozen. Derozen is not even in the league of Wade nor is he efficiency but what he does is needed on his team. Just like how Ellis was a terribly inefficient player but improved in Dallas and last year the offense improved to #3 in efficiency.

Ellis was a very very rare transformation. Of course players can change and improve certain aspects of their game, however, how much are you willing to spend on that chance? And, if he does not improve that part of his game, how much is he worth?

You may have seen more of him than me and therefore more willing to take a chance on over spending for him.

gunsnewing @ 12/2/2014 3:32 PM
Reggie/THJ or Reggie/Shump backcourt is interesting too if we move Calderon's contract

I would love to draft a PG. Do we have to go big? Any really good PG's coming out?

haven't seen any PG's mentioned. A few SF's and SG's. Our luck we will draft another SF. We will be like Minnesota. Instead of PG's its SF's lol

Was Ellis that rare of a transformation though? I think Jackson is at Ellis and Derozen level right now with more added ability to pass, rebound, and defend. So even if he never develops up to his potential he would still be a good player.

Selfishly I hope his efficiency numbers hurt his trade value and the knicks can make a trade with OkC at the deadline for Jackson because the knicks would need his BRs if they want to really improve the roster in FA this summer.

Jackson will sit as soon as he comes to NY. Go for Westbrook instead, he is built to play for a big market like NY.

Ellis to me is like Brandon Jennings becoming a good smart player. Ellis was extremely frustrating but always had talent. Jr has a bit of that too.

Ellis is still no genius but carlisle made the best out of him.

Btw, that guy is a damn good coach.

Mudiay is considered the best PG of the class so far. He's pmaying in China after something happened with eligiblilty (he was supposed to go to SMU, I believe).

Anyway he's 6'5" and is more a distributor than a scorer and his NBA comp at the draft sites is John Wall, but that's not always the best way to evaluate. I don't know much about him but was planning on looking at more reports.

Yeah I was reading about him too. One site had him going number 1 overall. We certainly need a PG.

sounds decent but the bigs are too good to pass up and we need quality bigs. Gasol is not coming to this mess
