I don't know if this quote from Melo was released before but ESPN just posted it now
It was a perfect setup, perfect fit for me in Chicago.

He actually called Chicago the perfect fit!

I'm just saying MSG - the corporation - had no problem showing that special because they don't care - as long as they make money from it & get their name out there.

They are not really interested in the sports aspect as much as the concert & entertainment portion of their business.

No I think Melo's people wanted it out there because in their eyes it will build Melo Inc's brand and the MSG/The Knicks have no say

you hit it on the nail..his re-signing with the knicks was more about the brand, then it was about money and championships

This was taken from the Documentary

The thread I started on

"So What Do You Guys Think of This"

I'll ask here again what is the point of the

Documentary when Melo Enterprises has full rights what to make available to public

They could have spliced the video any way he wanted

Why did the Doc air now while we sit 4-15

This is nothing more than a jerk being a jerk

Sending shots subliminally at Phil

He's basically saying Phil if we're going to win

I need a near Teflon type team built around me to cover all my sins on the court

I also think by him consistently keeping Chicago relevant in his mouth

It's another indirect dig at Phil saying the place which you left may be on the verge of greatness again

Shots fired at Kobe too, his rationale on the Lakers essentially said 5yrs > 4yrs $124mil > $97mil

Maybe he's mad 3weeks ago Jeanie indirectly called him "A Loser"

For not wanting to play with Kobe

Glen Robinson

Whereas you win with guys like Pippen, Odom, Marion, Prince, Manu & Pierce

Pippen had jordan
Oh-Dumb had Kobe/Shaq
Prince had balanced ensomble
Manu has Timmy and Tony

Glen, Dominique and Bernard didn't have teams around them good enough.

Melo does not either. Denver was flawed by regular season what-ever Karl did, and a bone headed laden but very talented cast.
"Melo" don't make it past second round is not the same as "Denver" did not make it past second round.

He'd be on a very good Bulls team. Oftne the sum of the parts equal more then each. IN his Knick tenure Melo has not had a proper roster around him.
Go ahead, blame Walsh or who ever. It is what it is and was what it was.

For the money we are playing Melo (because its WE paying him lol) he should elevate the game of those around him. See? He's not a leader. Cant make other guys better. Stop making excuses.

ok you make a great point but Melo eating up $25mil of the cap really hurts our chance to build one of those championship teams. Maybe if Melo was younger but time is running out. None of those SF's sniffed $25mil per

How much did an older Pierce & Marion make in their championship seasons? I'm going to guess less than $15mil per. I wanted Melo back at $18mil per. Even $20mil would've been a significant enough hometown discount. Difference between having cap space to add more than 1 FA. Could be the difference between 2nd rd or ECF+

Even if we get a top 3 pick by the time we start to click Melo will be at the tail end of his contract

With the new cap coming, it would probably be as if he was making 18 mil.

He is here ... lets hope that we can make it work with him.

No need to spend half the day reading articulate articles about what he says and if he used the correct prepositions, what was he inferring (geez), how much more he cares about money than winning, bulletproof shyt, digital, etc ... But winning is secondary and his competitiveness is ISOLATED within self

Dallas has FluTyson healthy.
Houston has many changes to its roster.

Its not like Melo would have hurt any of them. Get real.

Real is no fun. You have three guys here who either hate or strongly dislike Melo. That is a fact. If you look at what they discuss how much of it is actual? Little to none. Its "he would be exposed" or lets pretend to know what his life agenda is spend the day on UK tilting on that.

I guess let them enjoy their bashing.

In every thread.

Over and over again.

I am the ultimateMeloApologist lol

You are not, I am. You haven't shown up at the MeloMeetings in months!

The only thing that cures this (somewhat) is winning. As a wise man on here continually says, the games must be played. As painful as that may be for right now. There have been such thing as 33 game winning streaks. A man can dream. Only other thing left is to take the insane path of continually posting hate hoping for a different outcome (Melo disappearing). Or playing draft GM for the next seven months. I guess those things are not such bad hobbies for some people.

Real is we have Melo here for 5 years, he wanted to be here, he likes Dolan's money and people are still going to pine for him to be in Chicago. Or Houston. Or LA. Like they hate his face and lack of synaptic ability here but they honestly want you to believe they give two sheehits about him "winning" and "contributing" anywhere else.

Ah well. It's been 10 years and things really don't change much. Homers, Sombers, Centrists.

I think his legacy, unless he forces a trade, is pretty much written in stone at this point.

He's a 12 year NBA veteran. He's been an All Star and part of Team USA. I think folks thinking he can magically become a different player or person overnight, well it's just not going to happen. What you see is about what you will get. He's not suddenly going to be a leader. He's not suddenly going to be an elite defender or care about defense. He's not suddenly going to become saavy about how to deal with the press.

Some things, Melo has nothing to do with. The carving up of assets to make a run at LBJ in 2010 had nothing to do with him. It gutted the Knicks of a lot of assets.

At the point he forced a trade to NY, a lot of the issues with personnel on this team lies right in his lap. Can't build a team around you without assets. Don't have assets if the Knicks gutted most of what they had left in getting Melo here so he could get max money.

Sadly, it just seems to a lot of Knicks fans ( and diehard Melo ball lickers) that if Melo can't be blamed for all of the Knicks problems, that he should be accountable for NONE OF THEM. Which is unrealistic. I won't sit here and say absolutely ALL of the Knicks problems are because of Melo. But I won't sit here and stick my head in the sand and pretend he had nothing to do with the current state of the Knicks level of talent on the roster.

He says a lot of stuff that pisses off a lot of people. I won't put it beyond the media to try to trick and trap athletes into saying controversial things in order to get ratings/etc. But at some level, a celebrity athlete, esp one who has been in the limelight most of his life, needs to be able to protect himself in the media. Melo just doesn't do a good job of it. Sadly, there are other athletes who recognize they aren't good with the media and promptly keep their mouths shut. Melo just seems ignorant, and as others here have said, "tone deaf" to how problematic many of his comments are to a lot of the Knicks fanbase.

Much of this "bed", Melo had a hand in it. All of it? No. A lot of it? I'd wager yes. So he has to sleep in it now.

pretty much this

The Taliban Teaparty Melo haters think:

1. Melo "FORCED" a trade. Lets be real, Nobody put a gun to knicks head and forced them to do a trade.
2. Melo Is a loser. Making the playoffs about each year means something over an 82 game season. It also is telling about the team your on as well. George Karl has a history before he got to denver of strong regular season teams. Very strong.
3. Melo never did anything. He lead his team to an NCAA tournament championship.
4. Melo Lovers don't think he should have taken the money. $74,000,000 vs $120,000,000. No brainer. I think He took the money. I don't hate him for it. Be stupid not to. Be stupid to not pay it and let hiim walk for nothing after we stripped the team.
