Knicks · Watched Kentucky again (page 1)

Willie Stein's draft stock is going to take off. Hes a two way player and his upside might be as high as anyone in the draft. This is the first time Kentucky was tested and they stayed with Stein and he was dominant. Also Dakari Johnson is like a big Kurt Thomas. Nothing special but a ground and pound guy who will have many many 20-10 games in the NBA.

How did Stein score. Strictly around the basket like Tyson or with an array of offensive moves?

Hes got a nice little jump hook he uses. Hes got more offensive upside than Chandler.

Is Willie Stein a Freshman & how many games has Kentucky played so far this season?
I don't follow college ball much so that is why I am asking.

I'm gonna make more of an effort to watch these games instead of watching the Knicks and rooting for losses

Karl towns is kind of like a smaller version of bynum. While highly skilled you can see in some ways he's behind stein and johnson because of body although he might end up being the best of all 3.if u don't get pick 1 you are going to have to work I've come to believe early in the year that tier 1 stops at 1 with ok4 and then you have serious due dilligence on your hand. Willie stein has high upside he's strong athletic and he plays two wyas he might be the best defensive player to come into the nba in years. I'm almost ready to say stein might go higher than towns for some clubs. This will be a season long process that's the truth

Sorry--I think this clip will show a lot of his potential. You cannot teach what he has--the fact that he is so long and athletic. You can see some of his offensive moves on this clip around the 1:10 mark but watch the whole thing. Hes going to be the number 1 defensive player coming into the draft maybe the best rebounder as well. Unlike Chandler who was quite rudimentary for years Stein has offensive upside as you will see. Now its up to the team to extrapolate his offensive upside. If asking me--I dont see him as a great passer or having much of a jumpshot passed 8 feet---his footwork isnt close to ok4 or Kaminsky yet he seems to be able to handle the rock in the open court very well/ he's physically so long that he will be able to score easily with a good PG and make up for a lot of teams mistakes on the other end. He might be a Dennis Rodman on steroids who can also score.

Stein + Thanasis = 10 block per game frontcourt
H1AND1 @ 12/6/2014 1:48 PM
Briggs watching that vid seems like a taller Aaron Gordon from this years draft...
gunsnewing @ 12/6/2014 1:56 PM
Looks good, blocks everything. Not sure if that makes him a top 4 pick maybe 5-10
earthmansurfer @ 12/6/2014 2:32 PM
In the video at least, he seems to have a completely effortless appearance (in a good way) on defense. He further blocks shots soft (apparently for his team mates.)
When I see guys move like that at his size and so effortlessly, it can be something special.

He just might be pick 2. First off you may not see another game all year where you see so many bigs on the court from both teams--and Stein was easily the best. The more you look at his two way skills--the more you think that he is either the best or second best in the draft for US. His body is mature he plays hard practices against other NBA players daily two years of school--unless he gets hurt a red flag develop/ comes out and or another player just shoots up---it will be very very hard to find another player we could use more. If he was on the Knicks now--we'd be much better as is.

gunsnewing @ 12/6/2014 2:40 PM
Nice. No doubt we could use him.

Seems like this is shaking up to be a great year to tank. From what I've seen so far this draft is way better than last year which was suppose to be the best since the Lebron draft. I don't know why

Karl Towns had 19 points 9 rebounds 4 blocks 2 assists and 2 steals in 23 minutes today shooting 8/9

He has 6 games of 3 or more blocks and 5 games of 8 rebounds or more.

I agree guns. So far the hyped 2014 draft class hasnt been that special. Next year is starting to look better and we are finally in good position. Thank god teh knciks werent allowed to trade the 2015 pick(because we knew they would if they could lol)

Stumbled on a new draft site. http://NBAdraftroom.com only problem is they make all the players sound like future stars. Pretty good though.

Willie Stein 28? I doubt that although they have Dakari Johnson much better than the other two sites--hes easily late lottery. This is a unique year because IMHO you have multiple quality bigs with lottery type talent.

Here s the X factor--the way Id play the draft. At the bottom line some of what I believe is lottery talent big men WILL fall. Some teams have needs elsewhere--whether its PG SG etc.. whatever. To ME Im not sure about others--this is a draft where we "could" come away with TWO impact bigs--the hardest asset in the book to grab if we use our 2018 to swap outwith someone not looking to draft this year. This essentially is drafting ahead--taking the 2017 draft asset and applying it to this draft there by accelerating the performance of the asset.
