Everyone is up for grabs who goes who stays& who is coming to town
BRIGGS @ 12/17/2014 12:33 PM
I don't know--weve never did this with the exception of trading Nazr Muhammed to SA. Number 1 picks have become more valuable--so what wed be looking at--imho

is this trading guys like Jason Smith or Dalembart for 2nd rounders. Thats it.

jrodmc @ 12/17/2014 12:33 PM
Well, Phil warned the unteachable.

It may not matter however. Who wants what we have?, the NBA geniuses at the NY Times notwithstanding.

BasketballJones @ 12/17/2014 12:50 PM
Can't be called a fire sale unless prices can actually be lowered.
fitzfarm @ 12/17/2014 12:52 PM
I know the triangle doesn't need a elite pg ... But what if we could get Bledsoe from phx supposedly he's on the block via belcher report because of there surplus of pg's.
TPercy @ 12/17/2014 1:41 PM
Shoulda traded Melo, Amare, JR if we wanted to completely start over

I'm for it if, but what can the Knicks offer? Shump and a future first-rounder?
djsunyc @ 12/17/2014 1:54 PM
this is like putting up all your recordings of songs off the radio on cassette tapes for sale.
nixluva @ 12/17/2014 2:04 PM
It's kind of silly to talk of a fire sale when the team is already on the verge of clearing most of the players on the roster if they do nothing. Now if we're talking about trying to get some assets for the future that won't mess up the cap then I can see some moves but the cap situation makes the fire sale moot.

Phil has to think only of team building for the future and what kind of players are needed to form a solid core. Right now we don't actually have a core so I wouldn't do anything that hinders the ability to put a core together. Moves just for the sake of making a move are stupid. We've done that enough.

If we're talking cap then Jose and JR make the most sense to want to move if you want to clear some meaningful cap space. Other than that I can't see much sense in moving others unless it's for picks.

Is this from an article or quote from Phil?

Or his personal wish. Like nix said, How can you have a fire sale with a bunch of expiring contracts, that makes no sense.

arkrud @ 12/17/2014 2:23 PM
Hmmm... lets see what is on our shelves...
Cannot sell Melo... and this a luxury item which is too expensive even with discount.
Some broken merchandise in JR, Shrimp, and Bargs... We can donate it I guess... to our enemies.
Jose handle with care Calderon... prob the only piece that can be discounted.
Green bananas of THJ and others... may be someone want to get it and see it they turn yellow...
Not much
gunsnewing @ 12/17/2014 2:30 PM
The Knicks haven't been this depleted of assets since the year we traded for Melo

The media just loves the headline which denotes failure. Really tho this was always just a transition and tryout season. If things went well then maybe they get into the playoffs but still Phil would have a huge task of finding a way to establish a core for this franchise. The losing actually only hurts in convincing FA's to come here, but the chance of a good draft pick increased. In truth it wasn't likely we would get a guy like Gasol to come anyway so the next tier of FA's are still in play.

If Phil can land a young asset or pick then I can see him making a deal. Otherwise I don't really see much of consequence happening. I don't see a deal for Jose happening anytime soon. Perhaps at the deadline he could move Jose to a contending team looking for a solid vet backup.

I don't think our assets are depleted. We actually have some decent assets. But everybody's value is extremely low right now. The knicks are run the exact opposite as the stock market. Sell LOW and buy HIGH.

Very well thought out.

Don't forget to blame Fisher for "Devalueing" when showcased!
After all, its a big secret JR is a phucking idiot, Amare got a big contract, and Shump can't shoot.

Ha ha! You never know- we gave you an unprotected 1st for Bargs- that was like giving your life savings for a collection of turds, only to find out the turds were fake.

smackeddog @ 12/17/2014 3:38 PM
Even if we can pick up trade exemptions or second rounders, it would really help.
