The Celtics are seeking a package that includes a 2015 first-round draft pick with limited protections and expiring contracts, sources said.

If we're trying to trade for Rondo now

That says all we need to know about the Tank Movement

BRIGGS @ 12/17/2014 11:40 PM
The Knicks stink. We don't need to tank--we will just lose. The Knicks will be 5-26 after the next 4 games and on pace to win 14 games. Even if they traded for Lebron they would have 0 chance at making the playoffs--done. This Knicks team has more holes than the Titanic.

There is no tank movement--no team tries to lose--bad teams just do.

I'm sure almost every team in the league inquired. Knicks cant trade there 2015 pick. The offer they would be able to send to Boston would be so weak that it would be a steal if pulled off.

They could flip Tree Chump to another team for 2015 pick

But we'd probably have to send Cleanthony-Wear and Amar'e

For Wallace and Rondo, and I'd demand they take Smith

So far it's Knicks-Kings-Rockets-Mavs-Lakers

That has talked to the Celtics for Rondo

NardDogNation @ 12/18/2014 12:08 AM
It'd be a great move for the Mavs in the short-term but they might shoot themselves in the foot if they give up multiple picks in the process. Dirk will not be around forever and that team might have to rebuild for real. It'd be hard to do that without picks and an aged PG with a max contract.
yellowboy90 @ 12/18/2014 12:30 AM
I find it interesting that two teams with ball dominant 2 guards would go after Rondo. I would love for Houston to get Rondo so Beverley would be free in the offseason but that's just me.

Also, giving up Brandan Wright is huge. He is another FA and I would assume Boston tries to trade him at the deadline to get another pick. Portland, Clevland, and LAC should go after Wright after/if he is traded.

I live in fear we end up trading the right to swap our 2015 pick! (we can't trade the pick outright, but we can trade the right for a team to swap places with us- thats the danger.)

is that really true? Can we swap?

We did that in the past to get around the no trading 2 consecutive picks thing (we just can't trade enough 1st rounders!)- remember the awful Eddy curry trade? We traded our unprotected 1st in 2006 (LaMarcus Aldridge), and then the right to swap firsts in 2007 (which the Bulls evoked, so they got Noah with what should have been our pick, and we got their 23rd pick which we used on Wilson Chandler).

I think that is possible but I doubt a playoff contending team will trade their player unless it is a back up who is not worth a 1st rounder and all the bad teams will be in the lottery any way so why swap. After trading away their player they will likely tank anyways so the right to swap will be silly.

Just when I thought Phil and Dolan couldn't make things worse!

Word around the league is that Boston has been making some initial calls on Rondo, not the other way. Team to keep an eye on: Sacramento.
2:24 PM - 17 Dec 2014

Rondo has been in a funk lately. Unclear why. Has not shown usual aggressiveness. Been struggling defensively. Could be a factor in all this

— Chris Mannix (@ChrisMannixSI) December 17, 2014

"In what would seem like a signal that they're throwing in the towel, the Kings just recently fired their head coach, but ownership seems to be very aggressive with their progress. They extended Rudy Gay for another three years and seemed committed to building around DeMarcus Cousins. They owe the Bulls a protected pick, but with first rounders available in the near future and young talent like Ben McLemore and Nik Stauskas on their roster, they could be a team that could put together an attractive package that Danny Ainge would be interested in."

Im not getting bent out of shape on rumors any more. Its a waste of time.
You guys embellish all kinds of false impression to which another poster gets pissy on.
At some point the impression leads to anger.

Dallas the way they are constructed with Tyson-Dirk should go for it NOW!!!!

We might be a third team to help facilitate a trade in some fashion with minor pieces. That could be the extent of any knick involvement. why indict Phil to nothing we know of?

Dolan is still running the show unfortunetly which means don't expect good things to happen
Bonn1997 @ 12/18/2014 10:10 AM
The only way I'd do this is if it's a salary dump and we're not giving up any picks or assets but then I can't see why Boston would do it.

Yes you just can't completely trade out of

Future 1st rounds consecutively, as long the team we're trading with

has a 2015 1st, yes we can do a swap rights on our first

nothing better for a triangle than a pg that shoots worse than my grandmother.
