Wish we did what Boston is doing. Their future is a lot brighter than ours. All the picks and cap space in the world while we strike out on Marc Gasol & company
I still have reservations about how Rondo will work with Ellis and crew but Carlisle is a coach that could figure it out
not a good deal for Boston. should've traded him when they dumped pierce and kg.

really? sounds like a steal for them.
The Boston Celtics have agreed in principle to trade Rajon Rondo to the Dallas Mavericks, according to ESPN's Marc Stein and Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski. In return they the Celtics receive Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, and 2015 first round and second round draft picks. Boston will also send rookie Dwight Powell to Dallas.

Awesome deal and they can milk the players they got for more assets if they want. I would trade Brandan Wright because even though he is young he does not have value on a young team and might slip away in FA this summer.
It would appear that next to go is Jeff Green and Brandon Bass.
Then, it's play the youngins and tank for a lottery pick.

Bass Is someone I would defo try to get..elite defender and that is something that we don't have.
I agree that this deal is a steal for the Celtics. I think this is the type of forward-thinking move that only teams with a winning mentality make. Boston knows they can't get stuck in the dreaded middle of the NBA, so they are making a move that'll drop them to the bottom before they slingshot back to the top.
The Celtics likely also create a trade exception worth nearly $13 million with this transaction, which could be of monstrous value next summer. Wright is a player that could be "on the bus" down the line, due to his ability to protect the rim, though he could also work as trade bait before the February 19 trade deadline. Crowder might not be a big name, but he's only 24-years-old and is already an extremely versatile defender. Boston may view him as a keeper, especially if he continues to excel from the three-point line.
And of course, acquiring more draft picks never hurts. Boston will now have three first round draft picks in 2015, including Philadelphia's second round draft pick; they will now be in the pole position to acquire virtually any player that hits the trading market.
Who is Bostons cornerstone player? Smart?

Yes, the team has played without Rondo down the stretch for several games now.
Smart is the heir-apparent to get starter's minutes with Nelson backing him up.
All in envy now of Boston? They Been at this now since the knicks put them in the grave. Rivers left, so they go about a rebuild with a bright new young coach while they gain space and Picks.
When last won their starphuch how many years ago? They did nip it in the bud and shoved ceremony away and traded their gods for lots and lots of picks.
NOt a great trade for Boston but its solid! Young prospect big and a late probable high 20's 1st rounder. Rondo has a fresh ACL to still work thru but it makes Dallas a contender now. Rondo's salary is like 12 mil for this year so its easy for them to take him. Amare is double. Not so easy.
Good trade for the knicks if the west gets into an arms race and wants Amare (if they can) or Bargnani.
I know most of you think Bargs is worth nothing but a team that needs a late season push and believes they can make some noise might see a hopefully healthy Amare as a good short term rental. Price? A late 1st round if they have it!
Brandan Wright - 6'10, 35.5 vertical leap, 7'5 wingspan
Outstanding rim protector but worthy of starter's minutes?
Appears to be a good fit next to Sullinger?

Phil was busy pouting and fighting with Sheridan online
Instead of trying to figure out how we could benefit from this deal
Mad because Rondo wasn't being routed our way
So Phil accomplished 2 things, he didn't make a move to help us rebuild
He wasn't able to make a move to make us competitive here
But here's what we clearly found out today
Dallas is serious about winning and made the move to do so
That's what well ran organizations do

agreed
Good trade for both teams
Too bad. I was looking forward to Rondo tearing open Melo's butthole and making him wear it like a hat. Because that is what would have happened if he came here.

They are tanking and accumulating assets. They don't need to have a cornerstone player tapped as of yet. I'm sure they'd love it if Smart became that player, likely or not. But the point is they don't necessarily need one right now and they are _still_ in a great position, with basically all the Nets unprotected picks from now until seeming eternity. And the Nets are gonna suck. Basically Boston can do what Philly is doing and they don't even have to intentionally tank since they'll have the horrid Nets doing the dirty work for them.
