At the press conference he said the trades were because something wan't right with the team, and that some players (at a guess: JR!) were resisitant to the triangle.
He told fans and the media to lay of Fish and accepted full responsibility for the mess they are in- he said it was his fault not the coaches.
Best of all he basically said the plan this offseason is to rebuild in piecemeal fashion- don't expect to land any stars, or for us to blow the money chasing a big name. Said it's the correct way and hasn't been done before in NY(great news!)
Clyde was on Michael Kay show yesterday saying that what's happening now wasn't the plan..He said that Phil thought he had a playoff team and was trying to make the playoffs...So this is plan B or C..Either way, trading JR and Shump is just buying time for Fisher...Clyde said Fish had to show something in the second half of the year...Even after the last trade...

The thing is, not everything a GM tries is going to work out. Our problem in the past is we had no plan B- we'd put all our eggs in one basket and hoped for the best. At least Phil acknowledge his plan A failed, and he's switched to plan B.
Plan A was: compete for the playoffs this season, see if Shump or JR can grasp the triangle, and if not plumpen their trade value, add Marc Gasol in the offseason (which is why we added Calderon). Thats not going to happen, so plan B is, get a top pick, clear out the salaries, and sign a few 2nd tier players. Much more gradual. Is Melo on board with that? Hmm...

Well if this was plan B, you don't make that Calderon trade..U could always have given away JR and Shump to a contender for nothing..No one wants Calderon's 7 mil contract..

Clyde is employed to broadcast. His opinions at as irrelevant as ours. He is on ESPN to promote his restuarant

no it isn't. you can't expose what is already plain as day if not outright predictable. you make it sound like mr. frazier betrayed his old roommate. there's no moral imperative that you can attach to mr. frazier. he is above any reproach you can conjure up. he is impeccable.
If he wants to build a team "piecemeal fashion," which to me signifies slow and methodical as in "it's gonna take time, maybe years," then why resign Melo?? You resign Melo, there's an immediacy to everything that needs to follow. More so now that he's having knee issues. Before it was only both shoulders. Oh yeah, and we're down picks (no 1st rounder next year, etc.). And then he's refusing to look at the best DL talent around right now. BTW, how do you come out and say something like that before you even spoke to any of the upcoming FAs or their agents. Just sayin' man...Anyone know what the F this guy's talking about? Because I don't...Sounds like a defeatist attitude. Not the type of stuff I wanna hear our leader saying publicly. How are we expected to have an confidence in the guy after hearing him talk like that. Piecemeal my ass.. Get your act together and build this team back up before Melo falls apart!! WTF.

Clyde's not in touch with reality. I get a kick outta the guy but he just doesn't understand how things work. Come on Clyde -- wake up and smell the coffee. This isn't Fisher's fault at all. Our players are terrible. Period. And now we're in tank mode. What does he expect Fisher to show when the team's in full-blown tank mode?? Clyde makes me laugh..
Yea Phil really screwed up last summer. Fortunately for him he is Phil so he gets more chances to reset
Alright -- at least he said they're gonna be "active, open and selective." That's more like it.

He said it again during the broadcast as well. Nothing wrong with it. In regards to exposing Phil, what is there to expose? The guy's team has won 5 games.
Again with the blame is more important than anything!!
Plan A was rounding out roster with Jose.
The unbelievers resisted and injuries worse then expected. Andrea is very frustrating!
Even Cleanthony just returned. Shump got hurt and was not having the triangle either.
Maybe phil thought he could get into playoffs and with Cap space improve on it next year.
Plan B is "Strip and Tank". Melo figures into the future. A future we can't see. So we fear it.
Phil said starphuching don't work and fans don't get it. He is talking to some of us!
Well at least the $60mil Bionic Man
Is admitting he appears to be Mortal
His moves have been a complete abomination of cantankeration
He might be able to save himself from himself via winning the lottery
And the worst part about this, he feels so weak
He's apologizing to Melo, Amar'e, Jose about the results
Alot Of You guys are ridiculous. I think you would rather have the soap opera story going on than talk about what's happening.
Truth is the Knicks players gave up on the triangle. Jr Smith is the ring leader. Shump is a bitch as far as admitting he was sulking Lat year and then basically does it again this year. Calderón was hurt and might be still hurt judging by his fall off in play. Bargnani was a big part of this and he's been hurt. Amare can't play anymore but tried and now he's done.
The floor came out on a team that everyone expected to make the playoffs with a 6-8 seed. Now we're a lottery team and Phil made a good move to clear more flexibility. Then he acknowledged the Knicks aren't going to spend crazy. He's going to do what alot of you have been bitching about four 10 years. Full rebuild.
So go to hell with all your soap opera bullshit. We're getting a top 4 pick, we got melo and cap space. Let's be men and talk like men. Save the drama for ultimatebitch.com
This horrid season is a blessing in disguise. We really needed to bottom out and try a different way. Now it's up to Phil and his staff to put this thing together going forward. He'll have a lot of options and opportunities to make some moves over the next 7 months.

Quote of the week....Seriously, if this was Isiah, Grunwald or Walsh at the helm, they would have traded for retreads and stars long past their prime(Steve Francis and Tracy McGrady says hi) still trying to grab a playoff spot, at the same time adding unnecessary salary. Phil acknowledges that he thought the team could compete for one of the last playoff spots in a weak east, as a lot of talking heads (and some here) predicted. Now that that's not achievable, he's doing the right thing by not compounding the problem like past GM's would have. He's doing Something that most here have called for, for over a decade; Rebuild the roster, not chasing the big star necessarily, and piecing together a
cohesive roster. And still, the usual suspects continue the witch hunt searching for anything Knick related to bitch and complain about...Unreal!!

Giving a synopsis of what happened and what's taken place
Compared to what was sold and thought to have taken place
Are totally different spectrums, who couldn't see most of theses
Taking place prior to them happening
Even Phil is admitting having cap space might not necessarily be
An immediate savior and the lottery is always based on chance
So as we talk as men let's make sure we PIECEMEAL our future projections
Instead of trying to arrive at the conclusion Cap Space + Pick =ALLFIXEDNOW
I understand we had to free up cap space with JR and Shump trades..Have to say tho, the deals that Phil has made so far including hiring Fisher does not inspire confidence...
