Knicks · how about Melo and Calderon for Kyrie and Love (page 1)

fishmike @ 1/10/2015 4:01 PM
Seems like a better fit for both. Lebron is best when he doesn't have to be the primary scorer. That's why they are trying to play Irving off the ball. For us Irving is the perfect SG for the triangle. Has PG vision but is scorer first.

We can then flip Love to a team that values him for an expiring deal and a draft pick(s) who wants to resign him.

Than rather than Melo's $25mm we have Kyrie's $16mm or whatever his # is next year and we have at least another pick or something to work with after flipping Love.

Carmelo gets his running mate and everyone know's Lebron *needs* him so his ego gets stroked also. Cle is not very good so there is less pressure.

We have Kyrie, some cheap rotation guys, a top3 pick and $40mm in cap space.

Bonn1997 @ 1/10/2015 4:04 PM
I don't think they'd do this even if we included the #1 pick
F500ONE @ 1/10/2015 4:05 PM
Melo doesn't have this kind of value fishmike

neither do Kyrie and Love. Everyone thought that with Lebron this was a 60 win team. They have been exposed. The are good. They are not even close to Wade/Bosh good. Not even close. Good players... big tier below the Heatles

Doesn't matter not sure their fans are proposing

Such preposterous ideas, Melo for Kyrie probably doesn't get entertained either

Although The Lebron Kyrie dynamic could prove to be a real story

Developing second half of season, not sure how much these guys like each other

they don't and Love stinks. Melo and Lebron are buddies always have been. Look at the lineups. They have Mosgov/Varejo at C. Lebron and Melo at the forwards. JR/Shump/Calderon at the guards. If they could ever all get on the court healthy for any stretch that could be a very dangerous team
yellowboy90 @ 1/10/2015 4:16 PM
This is silly talk none of those players will get traded regardless.

A better question is why is Love still having problems without Lebron and why does Kyrie insist on becoming Marbury pt. 2. Watching Kyrie play it seems like he is in love with his handle and he takes extra dribbles instead of passing to open players.

Cleveland is an interesting case study and I look forward to watching how it unfolds. I think they get it together but if they don't will Love be okay being a 3rd guy like Bosh. Sometimes he might be the 4th with JR. JR took 23 shots compaired to Loves 11 or 13 last night. Plus, unlike Bosh, Love is not a defensive presence.

And if Cle is going to send Irving packing they need to get a better player back. Think about it.. MElo/Lebron around 7 foot centers and JR/Calderon shooting and Shump's inpenetrable defense

Its just an idea but I actually think it makes sense for both squads. Lebron and Melo have played together and shown proven chemistry

total silly talk... but how could any deal go down? Would have to be big. I only think it works because of all the ego fits. Nobody admits failure. Its just a better fit all around

We'd have to give up the lottery pick for sure and THJR

But like Bonn said not sure this gets it done

Melo stinks too back-to-back missed playoffs

But theoretically if a deal could be had

Flip Love to GSW for Lee and a pick

Offer Draymond Green close to Max

I'd probably flip Kyrie to Bucks in a S&T for

Brandon Knight and pick, but this is more make believe than make believe

Certainly interesting...One thing you are learning, Love is not a franchise type player...Kyre is hogging the ball too much...Love needs more touches...I don't think this is a easy fix like Miami...Kyre needs the ball to be effective but the team is better with LeBron orchestrating with Love involved...

I think one of the problems is that they can not play small with Love at the 5 like Bosh did in Miami. Plus Marion is not Battier. Battier was younger than Marion and could spread the floor. They also miss a Ray Allen type that creates commotion coming off of screens.

knickscity @ 1/10/2015 6:17 PM
I'd do that deal instantly. get to work Phil.

Maybe they'd do Melo and a 2nd round pick for Love and filler
None of these trades are remotely doable unless Melo gets on the court and proves that he's healthy though.

Yep, Kyrie certainly is on the level of past three years Wade. Love is absolutely better than Bosh. The Cavs season started off slow because LeBron looked quite average. Now if he's truly ailing it's even worse.....the decline has started.

I used to be high on Love but not anymore..There is now way I would swap Melo for Love..I think we are now seeing why Love teams have never been to the playoffs..

Nalod @ 1/10/2015 6:57 PM
I'd gamble on Getting Love here via free agent.
Small odds mind you but this guy in the triangle would kill it.

I trust Phil knows how to accentuate Melo's skill set and visa versa.
By that, which players would thrive both in a triangle and with a player of Melo's ability.

No, you can't see this as it does not exist but this is what Phil has to do to succeed.
Just cause some can't see it, does not mean it can't happen. Im not talking pie in the sky, just chemistry.

Kyrie can stay in Cleveland. He is this generations Baron Davis. A very good player. A thick 6-2 bull dog who expends a lot of energy to get two pts.

From what I have read (see f500, this is how you do it) Love is 50-50 he stays. Depends on how the season finish's. We all read he is a California beach boy so the Lakes will come a calling and he only has to put up with Kobe's shyt for one year, but Phil will bring his moni and jedi mind tricks as well as a high pick so he can sell the trifecta of stars and how he will make Love the toast "Old BroadWay"!!

Like I said, its low % it happens.

Flawed rosters maybe, and alot of injuries, which is exactly what the Cavs have as well?
dk7th @ 1/10/2015 7:04 PM
the only trade that works for the knicks is giving melo the heave-ho and bringing in love.

while love is a non-defender he would be a better fit in the triangle.

kyrie irving is a loser-- i foresee a glorified journeyman's career trajectory like those other knick losers we had on payroll.... marbury and francis. even as calderon sucks it would be a terrible idea to bring in irving. if irving played defense then that changes things... but he doesn't... so it doesn't.

i am not convinced that fishmike has an adequate grasp of the nature of this sport.

Getting out of Melo's contract is the major reason to do the trade, though I'm OK with Love the player.
