a couple are realistic- but with him saying he needs surgery, now way he gets moved this season. He might not even pass a physical.
And then in the off season, I don't see him getting moved as he'll likely be a featured part of what we're trying to build.
But, good to know there are some legit options out there in case Phil wants to move him and build on without him.
Plus he gets $17 mil more if he's traded next year.

It's complicated but, at least how I understood the earlier articles, he has a 15% trade-kicker but trade kickers can be used only in a season when you don't have a max contract. Next year, he doesn't have a max salary though he does this year
Here's one article on it:
http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nba-ball-d...Talk of Anthony’s trade kicker is a little daffy, at least for this year. A trade kicker can’t add to a max contract, and Anthony has a max contract this season. When the salary cap bumps up over the next several years, and Anthony technically isn’t making max money, then the kicker would be established
Regardless of what happens with the cap, he doesn't have a max contract next year.
Would the Knicks have to pay that or the team trading for him?
I don't think Big Chief Triangle is trading Melo away unless he gets superstar in return or multiple 1st round picks with 1 being a lottery pick.
Calderon is the player that Phil will move this year if he can.

The Knicks
Yeah, basically Dolan would have to pay $17 mil just to send him to another team.

Wait a sec...I thought it was a 15% kicker on the year's salary in which he got traded. As in 15% of 22 million or w/e it is...

We could probably take up a collection here on UK- bet we could get most of it!

No, trade kickers are for the whole contract but can't put the contract over the max.

Yeah, 15% of whatever remaining salary he has. I think it would be closer to 15 mil (not 17) actually if he was traded this off-season.
In contrast, he gets $0 if he waives his no-trade clause and is traded this year. So that won't happen.

yeah so that 17 million plus he (dolan) will probably need to eat 20 million of fishers remaining contract next year.

Yeah, I wonder how long until he gets pissed at Phil and takes decision-making control away from Phil.

Trade kicker. Its like "Hamburger helper". 15% on balance of contract.
Melo can't play and needs surgery. I doubt he gets traded for a long time. By then we'll have truck loads of cap and a top 4 draft asset.
Not saying we'll be in the promised land this time next year, but things will look different. Hopefully a chage for the better.
Allan, in respect to you long term commitment to the UK I offer you that. Otherwise you'll see a ton of emotionally charged Melo Regret and trade ideas.
I'd be shocked if he gets traded in the next year. I can see a healthy Melo traded next year for youthier assets if we can't rebuild in a reasonable time.
Thats good for him and us as we get back hopefully youthier assets to rebuild with.
Nalod has hopes for a magical summer but I am full prepared that if opportunities don't arise we don't starphuch our way out of this. Thus, I see the possiblity of a longer term rebuild that will test the radical fringe. This could take all of 5 years and a bit longer. Its more important that it get done right then when it gets done.
Signing Amare is a perfect example of the continued thought process/Culture that prolonged the knicks to be the second worse team in the last 15 years!!!!!
I am redundant to say this insanity permiated since CHecketts left the building and we have had 7 Gm's in that time. 7 in 15 years is just phuched up!!!
Who does that? Dolan.
I don't care about the 12mil Jax is getting paid. IN fact there are many GM's that could do well if given a solid 5 year deal with the full faith and confidence of an impatient owner who does not know what he is doing
I'm glad to see that Melo's healthy enough to play. He might have some trade value. I think Dallas might do Felton plus Parsons for Melo. In the best case scenario, that pushes them from 2nd tier to actual contender while we get a young player to rebuild with.
I'd rather have Harris than Felton but that's probably asking for too much. Harris would only help us get a worse draft pick this year anyway though.
I would need at least 2 1st rounders (AT LEAST 1 1st rounder and MULTIPLE 2nd round picks, most of which are in those coming draft) 3-6 depending on where the 2nd round picks are and how many 1st round picks
In addition some young players and expirings, like young players like DMO, Terrence Jones, Beverely, Koustas PAP
I do not think that we can get what I want if Melo is really hurt for this season and needs surgery though
Teams will not give that for him if he would not be healthy enough to increase the teams chances of winning this year

I don't think that we can get anywhere close to that. The contract in itself pretty much makes him valueless.

You don't think Dallas would do that deal I listed?
