I agree with you that this is the place where he can prove and gain consistency, but that is up to him. If the coaches are having a hard time with telling THJR not to take so many 3s or larkin not being afriad to finsih then I highly doubt we could coach the dudes confidence.

What we need is a young slasher, if that dude is not one but can play PG, what is the need for Calderon? The Calderon deal will forever hurt us.

Shved does more than THJ does in that he has the handles to breakdown his man and get to the hole. Shved passes WAY BETTER than THJ and is like having another PG on the floor. If they can get him to understand all of the ways he can exploit this system he should be a good fit. He has the necessary skills to excel including being a good midrange scorer off the dribble and still seeing the floor and being able to deliver the pass.

You have to look deeper. Phil isn't living in the 90's he's looking at a skilled player who does things that will be very important in the Triangle. He can pass and score in the midrange and in particular get to the basket off the dribble. These are things we currently lack at the wing spots. I think being in a more structure offense will eventually work to Shved's benefit. The more he plays in this system and can get used to it, he should be able to exploit the openings the system presents in a better way than some of our guards have done. Passing, Driving and taking the midrange jumper all fit into Shved's skill set.

That's the problem. He shoots threes like Harper. Harper shot like 30 percent from three.

I doubt he's here long but . . . I don't dislike what I've seen of Shevd's game and two 2nd picks is, well, two 2nd picks.

I can see Shevd developing some--he's 26, not 37--but I'd guess he's a serviceable bench player on an okay team, at best.

Langston Galloway, lance thomas and lou amundson came off the street and picked up their roles just fine. If Shved comes in and does the same then THJR is a bum..... larkin is working hard though. He just suffers from t - Rex syndrome

YES!!! I think people are totally underestimating Shved because of the circumstances he's been in. He actually does have talent but he hasn't really been in great situations and this could actually give him a chance to develop his game and find a groove. I think he's a more well rounded player than THJ by a LOT. No he's not a great 3pt shooter but that's not all he'll need to do in this system. Heck THJ hasn't exactly been a deadeye shooter from 3 and he gives you NOTHING else. Shved actually does other things on the court. He has great court vision and passing skills. He has much better handles and driving ability. He can shoot the pull up jumper too.

Certain players lack the mental ability to excel in this system. I don't know if Shved has it, but my guess is that he does. I think this is why they snapped him up. We'll see.

Houston was the WORST spot for a player like Shved. This system is a much better fit for him. Here he can actually find a role that his skills will fit. If he really applies himself to learning the system he should be pretty solid in it. I'm pulling for him. Me and my sons have always liked the kid. We used to have running jokes about his name when watching him in Minnesota. He's got more talent than he was able to display in Houston.

Add me to the folks that liked him before. Although, it was back when he was with Minny when I last remembered him. He just kinda fell off the NBA landscape when he was traded to the Sixers. Did not even know he got traded to the Rockets.

Getting Shved and 2 2nd round picks for old man Pablo is a good haul.
