Knicks · Russ Westbrook is my favorite player (page 1)

This kid plays with the passion I want to see in NY. If this dude were 3 inches taller, he would have ruled the NBA
NardDogNation @ 2/22/2015 8:53 PM
That guy is an idiot. Talented...but an idiot. I'd prefer not to ever see him in a Knick uniform but then again, we need all the talent in a world. Beggars can't be choosers.

Why is he an idiot? Jordan, Kobe, and many other greats were viewed as egotistical maniacs. Russ to me is simply a passionate player. He brings it every game

Jordan and Kobe had proven to make consistently smart plays while putting their egos aside. Westbrook has yet to demonstrate that and he seems to lose games far too frequently for my taste. I don't trust him with the ball during the last 5 minutes of the game because he consistently makes the wrong play, trying to be the hero. He's a cancer and I'd prefer to have no part of him.

Seriously dude? To each his own. I would take a Westbrook one thousand times over Carmelo; for the record, I am one of Carmelo's fans

If Westbrook is your favorite player, then that explains a lot.

If Westbrook was 3 inches taller, he would trip over his own feet.....Probably be in the Euro league, with his own statue.

Westbrook is the best street baller in the NBA right now.

Building a championship team around Westbrook takes the same effort as building around Melo. They are both selfish gunners with ideological issues. They will not change their game until their too old to run and jump. Thats when it will be easier to build a team around them.....

Westbrook is pure entertainment.....Thats it. I'll take a 40 year old Stockton over him if I'm trying to win a championship. I'll take Westbrook over anybody if I'm at Rucker Park.

Haters gonna hate. I would take Westbrook on this team every day of the week and 7 times on Sunday. His problem is he plays with Durant so him being an asshole magnified. The NBA is so freaking soft now. Russ' attitude was the default attitude back in the day. Now they all need to be friends and make boy band vodeos together.

Nalod @ 2/22/2015 11:11 PM
I'd like to see Westbrook to dial down a notch and understand the game a bit more than going 100 MPH and running on emotion.

Sure its a good thing, but sustainable? Not sure. Put the kind in the triangle and accept the role the kid could be the alpha that it needs.

Let me clear something up.....I was talking about the old Westbrook. This new Westbrook is killing....And if he finally gets it at this young age, still in his prime, he will be everybody's favorite player. BTW...I will always be a John Starks fan!

But 17 assist shows that he's capable of being a sold team player at a critical postion. And not just a chucker like Melo.

Westbrook is currently playing lights out this year. And that allstar performance and now with that trade....Westbrook has a nice compliment of players around him. OKC was my pick earlier in the season to win it all.....And the way hes playing, it's going to be hard for anybody to beat them in a series.

The question is can he keep this up, when KD returns.

All star game does not count. He was litterally pulling up from slighty above half court around ten times and nobody was playing defense.

OKC is really cheap. I've been wondering if they'd give up Westbrook for the #1 pick this year and TH Jr. They might view him as untradeable though.
I don't love Westbrook but I'm trying to think of ways to dramatically improve the team while Melo is still in his prime.

Those leg injuries of his don't concern you? He's a tweak away from becoming the dud that Derrick Rose has become IMO. And considering how fast/dramatic PG's can fall off (see Deron Williams), I think it'd be too risky for me to surrender a long term asset like our pick.

They do, but a half starphuck, half rebuild approach is at least as concerning.
I'd rather trade all our veterans for whatever assets/cap room we can get, keep the pick, and do a real rebuild but I doubt that's on the table.

when your pg can put up 35 shots in a game, how is that ever a good thing. On most nights a team takes 70 to 85 shot attempts a game, if you have a pg taking half the teams attemps (kd takes another 25 to 30) how does the help the rest of the team.

It's the same thing with Rose, when you have to rely on a pg to score in order for you to win, that is not a championship team

They are not gving up Westbrook..He is signed thru 2017..Especially since KD might walk next year..

They are a perfect team for the triangle or Westbrrok is a perfect candidate for the triangle...

It's a very long shot but they're cheap and they could get an excellent player on a rookie contract. That leaves more money to pay KD instead of Westbrook's max contract. I'm not saying it's likely but I'd at least give them a call.

He is not really a PG..He is a wing player posing as a PG...He can fit into a Pippen role...

Hopefully Phil did..or does.

but I agree with you...OKC won't let him go. I believe, when its all said then (pending how R.Westbrook knee holds up), R.Westbrook will be a bigger star than K.Durant.

Breaking News:

Durant may be out for the rest of the season. What if Westbrook leads OKC to the finals minus Durant, will you all feel different about the dude?
