I didnt mean get rid of Jose this year I mean before the start of next year! We need him to help us lose!
Can we take a look at Nate Wolters?
The similarity between him and Bargnani is kinda scary. Still dont now what the heck Phil was thinking taking this guy and his contract. Both Toronto and Dallas must be laughing, at least their fans have actually thanked us
I'd like to see what Shved does with 20-25 minutes a game. And I second Briggs notion on Walters. He is a smart player with good size, not a great defender but ok. He might have triangle written all over him.
TBH - running the triangle might really make the most use of our $$$ as we are looking for players often overlooked by other teams, in part anyway.

I forgot we have Shveyd. Oh well atleast we will continue to lose!
LOL And this is the guy we are counting on at PG next year
Hi is Achilles heel of this team going forward...

toronto maybe, but he had a very decent yr last season. His Turnover ratio and 3 pt % was among the best in the league. If he got traded tomorrow, I'm sure he will have the same success. Besides, Carlise calls most of the plays and calderon is good at executing a play, but this read and react triangle sht, to much for the avg player
Is it to soon to start a Calderon appreciation thread?
i always thought he got a bad rap... he's a heady guard that knows his limitations but he's a very good shooter and handles the ball well...
i think he's done tho...

My sentiments exactly.
Dump and stretch send like a good idea if we can't move him.
He's the 7 Million Dollar Man. We can rebuild him.
Alexey Shved gets the perfect opportunity to get some good run. He actually played really well in Philly. The guy is not a bum at all. His numbers per 36 minutes are good. I could really see him overtaking THJR in minutes eventually. I really want to see this guy succeed.
Glad that Phil is scouting PGs and isnt locked in on just a big.

Mostly agree. If he plays really well then he could be worth the option. If not, but he is decent, he is a cheap backup to sign after declining (if he wants to stay here). I really don't think Larkin is in the picture. Would not be shocked if he gets cut actually.
Berman following BRIGGs lead:
More likely, Calderon’s fate hinges on whether Knicks president Phil Jackson decides to use the stretch provision on him and waive the 34-year-old playmaker to save $4.4 million in cap space for 2015 and $4.7 million in 2016.
“It wasn’t relief or nothing,’’ Calderon said of not being dealt at the deadline. “There was a lot of rumor there. And maybe if they had the opportunity to get a better player, maybe I wouldn’t be talking to you right here now. I’m still here, part of this. I got two more years on my contract.
“We’ll see what happens during the summer. I don’t know after the summer [if] I’ll be part of this or not. You never know. I want to because when you go through the bad part of this rebuilding process, you want to be part of the good part too. I think the good part is coming. I just don’t want to be here what we’ve been through this season and just say bye and be in another place.’’
Calderon has two years and $15.1 million left on his pact ($7.4 million and $7.7 million). Under the collective bargaining agreement, if Calderon is waived before Sept. 1, the Knicks get to divide the amount remaining over five years, and Calderon would count against the cap for just $3 million in 2015 — not $7.4 million. If Jackson waived Calderon after Sept. 1, only 2016 can be used for a stretch provision.

Ok, so Calderon may have a torn Achilles. Take me through the process. The stretch provision is one option...Suppose he can't make it back and contemplates retirement. What then? He'll get his money one way or another (insurance kicks in?) but how could we possibly benefit? Could we get an injured player exception for a certain amount or the full amount? Say he doesn't retire but is out for an extended period of time as in well into next year (how long again for a torn achilles -- that's pretty severe, no?) -- could we get an injury exception then? Would his salary still remain on the books? Remind me what happened with Allan Houston again -- could we be looking at the same thing? Not wishing injury on Jose btw -- he's a good guy, I actually think he would make a good coach, but his playing days are obviously numbered and his contract is a killer for us. I wonder if he would ever consent to a buyout where we then turn around and hire him as a coach on Fisher's staff to supplement at least part of the difference. Could that be an option?

Don't you have to wait a year until you can have a permanently injured players salary wiped off the cap? At least thats what I remember.
To be honest, the stretch provision pretty much wipes out his salary- $3mil isn't too much to overcome.
Knowing our luck he has torn the achilles! I expect them to announce it today!
There is such a thing as basketball gods in my humble opinion. Calderón has been smited. At this point, it's a joke to keep him. If He's hurt we can't move him and we have no use for him at that point. I would absolutely do this stretch provision. The salary still counts on the books but it's not a huge cap hit as his full salary. I can desk with that.

never wanted him to begin with plus he is untradeable unless we add a asset
Just to be clear about Calderon's achilles injury, speaking from a guy that had two surgeries.
He has a torn achilles. Thats why he has pain. Eventually he will completely tear it, if he continues to play.
Unless he shuts it down now, and let it heal.
