Penn State Fans Chanted “Overrated!” At Ohio St G D’Angelo Russell, Who Proceeded To Go Off On The Nittany Lions
Andrew Holleran

The “overrated!” chant is a popular-but-typically-poorly-used chant in the college basketball world. It was used in poor form by Penn State’s student section Wednesday night.

In the first half of the Nittany Lions’ game against Ohio State, fans chanted “overrated!” at Buckeye guard D’Angelo Russell – perhaps the best player in the sport – while he was at the free-throw line.

That probably wasn’t a smart move, Nittany Lions’ fans.

Russell proceed to go off on Penn State, quieting the blue-and-white-clad crowd on senior night. The 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard has 26 points – 15 of which came on 3-pointers – with roughly six minutes remaining in the game.

So melo is soft becsuse of his smooth game. Well Russell is even smoother.

Wow. Carmelo's softness has nothing to do with his game on the court.

I'd much rather have him pursue his C.E.O. dreams in another state.

I want basketball players not empire builders.

Here you see the most recent CPR ratings, which have Russell at the top.

I will rejoice if the Knicks get D'Angelo Russell. Kid has star written all over him.

I also feel like Towns will be really good, but I remain skeptical of Okafor for some reason.

If the Knicks get Towns or Russell, I think we'll be in great shape.

I am slightly worried they will make the selection and trade it to Cleveland for Kevin Love though, which I feel would be a dramatic and terrible mistake.

Trade the pick to Cleveland? Oh hell no. Phil is not that stupid. If Phil is going to trade that pick, it will certainly be for an opportunity to obtain a basketball ready guy like Butler and a top draft pick.

Russell is a ball screen guy like Harden. If we draft him either he is going to have to change the way he plays of we have to abandon the triangle

wow i couldn't disagree with this more. have you watched him at all? (and im not saying that in a degrading manner) he excels at creating his own shot, shooting off the dribble or penetration to the lane. with that said he's also been very good coming off screens too, but to call him a ball-screen guy isn't giving him credit at all.

Something you have to consider when drafting if this is really the case.

People say to go BPA no matter what, and that a good player can fit any system, but minimizing the things that make a player special because you run an offense a certain way is bound to be a problem in the long run.

Depends on the player. I could see a Curry fitting into the triangle and thriving, hard for me to see Harden doing the same, IMO.

I'm assuming (hoping) that Jackson and his scouts are taking all of this into consideration, though.

Yea I like him. I just wouldn't take him over towns or ok4 for this team and I think Mudiay will go ahead of him. Most likely to Philly unless they fall back

KAT, Russell, and Okafor.
