Knicks · Would you as a Knick fan take Andera Bargnani back on a 1 year 4mm deal? (page 4)

We need some continuity. Bargs has been playing well now that he has his legs and rhythm back. He's one of the few knicks that should be brought back.

too unreliable. Wouldnt be surprised if he gets injured again before season is done
markvmc @ 3/7/2015 11:34 PM
I can't tell any more which posters are being sarcastic and which would drive us on to ruin.

He had another good game tonight. With his size and skill set he creates mismatches on offense. Hibbert and Mahini had a tough time with him. The guy is very talented.

I know some people love to hate on Bargs but if they put aside the blind hate they'd see the practical reasons for keeping him around. He's a good fit in this system. We know not everyone can excel in this system.

markvmc @ 3/7/2015 11:46 PM
Eddie Curry was talented. He had good games too.

this. Nothing personal against bargs but he is way too injury prone

So what's that got to do with this situation? We need players for next season who we know can execute in this system and will be relatively cheap. The point of Bargs finishing the season is to see what he can give us and consider bringing him back. If he can continue to play well there's no reason not to consider bringing him back.

BRIGGS @ 3/8/2015 12:03 AM
You have to take it out of your system that Bargnanai is going to get anything much more than 4mm for 1 year. Hes been playing very well--its nice that we have another 20 games to watch --but its obvious that with no frontcourt players on our team signed--that Bargnani has to be a guy we could potentially bring back. We have to be forward thinking. If Bargs was playing like this and we were 9-3 to start the season--most people would be saying lets resign him to a 35mm contract or something. Im talking 4mm for 1. When thats taken in perspective--its clearly a reasonable thought process. I think its also embarrassing for Bargs to be compared to Eddy Curry. EC was a dope and blew his career. I don't think bargs is in that category in anyway.

The point, nix, is that Barnyarnee's talent is irrelevant. Everyone in the NBA has talent. But some players' talent, like for example EC and AB, does not offset the negative they bring. And, as VCoug pointed out earlier, AB, is fucking awful by every advanced metric--and, also btw, the eye test. Anything good this bum does is more than offset by what he costs you by his very presence on the court.

Without looking this up, nix, I'm going to guess that you were a big Eddie Curry booster back in the day too.

Anyway, back to the point. Bargnani is awful. just f.uc.kin.g god.awful. The numbers prove it beyond a doubt. No one should even remotely want him on their team. The occasional good game does not change this, any more than the yellowness of fool's gold makes it valuable.

He looked great tonight and has looked really good since he got back on the court. He creates mismatches on offense for other bigs. His tenure as a Knick has been frustrating but he is a very skilled player. Signing him to a prove yourself fr your next contract deal at 4 mil or less for a year doesn't seem like a bad investment.
markvmc @ 3/8/2015 12:56 AM
Why would you think that his godawful career numbers should be ignored in favor of 2 or 3 decent games in a contract year? Once again, Eddy Currie had some good games. Larry Hughes too.
nixluva @ 3/8/2015 12:59 AM
Bargs has looked worse due to injuries. After the injuries he comes back off his game and trying to get healthy. When healthy he can be productive. It's annoying for some to talk like you can just write him off without considering our limited talent and the fact we'll need players to fill out the roster. This is the 1st time in Years that Bargs has had a chance to play when he's fully healthy.
markvmc @ 3/8/2015 1:14 AM
My estimation of Ab has nothing to do with injury, and everything to do with his advanced stats. It's annoying that some think it's OK to ignore this and pretend like he contributes a net positive.

But go nuts, I'm done with my fact-based anti-barnyarnee diatribe.

But, nix, you were an Eddy Curry booster, weren't you?

You find it annoying?

How annoying was your parade of nonsense about Calderon being a top PG who just needed to get healthy to show his abilities.

Yeah, every player you decide to pump up into a fake hero always has an excuse for their lame performance. According to you, we need to wait, wait, wait until ...........

they get healthy

have the right system to function in

have the right mix of teammates to play with

You have an excuse for everything. And you want to tell people to calm down, be patient, stop being ridiculous and to GTFOH! because you know better.

You know nothing.

YOU'VE BEEN WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING.

You're advocating we go into next year with our prime acquisitions being Mo Williams, Rodney Stuckey and Bargs- whats happening to you, man?!

Hector @ 3/8/2015 6:32 AM
I think Bargnani is gonna fuck with us & play well enough the rest of the year to get a few years & some dough.

Then he'll shut it down for another 2 years.

At least he's showing a slight pulse now.

+1.
If people want some continuity from this year, we can bring back Melo, Schved, and Galloway. I expect Calderon and Hardaway will be here too. That's already a third of this roster.
