Knicks · If we paid middleton 16 mm (page 1)

BRIGGS @ 3/8/2015 11:08 AM
Our top draft pick 4.5 and waived jose Wed have around 20 mm to spend if we can vet rid of Hathaway for a 2016 2 nd rounder.

Something like
Middleton 4 years 64 mm Sg
Mo Williams 2 years 13 mm Pg
Bargs 1 year 4 mm C
Anjica 4 years 16 mm C
Derrick Williams 2 years 4 mm Pf
Towns Pf

Why on earth would we pay khris Middleton 64 mil no way anyone pays that kid that kind of money... I could see him getting jr like money... Not to say the kid hasn't been playing well scoring in double digits for the past 15 games... He's a third, more of a forth option at best... Might even be more of a 6 th man on a good team... I agree on brags 4 mil one year that's a good prove your worth contract. And ajinca is a budding center that I'd love to see in a knick uniform. Towns would be great but I'd want to mold him as our future center. Mo Williams is a nice bench piece but as for starting pg we can do a lot better..

Am I way off on Middleton is he a budding star?

Middleton is getting some hype lately as a darling of the
Advanced stats Sloan Conference at MIT so people are taking notice. He's a super solid defensive wing who can play both SF and SG who also has a budding offensive game. I was
Reading something that the Bucks defense falls off a cliff when Middleton sits. My guess is he gets overpaid in a max offer this summer a la Gordon Hayward by a team banking on his stats extrapolating up with playing time and more minutes to develop.

Why make a new thread on Middleton?
Vmart @ 3/8/2015 2:22 PM
That's crazy Briggs 16 mil for Middleton. That is Shandon Anderson revisited. You want better return than Middleton at 16 million maybe a Milsap at that rate even then I think it might be to much for Milsap.

When the cap moves up 33% in 2 years it will look fine

They have nothing in common. Middleton can actually shoot is two inches taller and would be 5 yrs younger than Anderson when he became a knick. Middleton is more efficient and better on D.

No. LoL. I thank you for giving me credit though. I would have never brought it up. It's more about consolidation. Briggs is a good poster but he makes threads that should be posts in other threads, mostly his own thread. It's all good though.

Not comparing the players. I would not mind Middleton on the Knicks but just not at a ridiculously high contract figure. Why over pay for a player when 32 million over 4 year is sufficient.

knickscity @ 3/8/2015 3:20 PM
He might not even get 10 per season, but some want to pay 16 starting?
BRIGGS @ 3/8/2015 3:24 PM
If we want an rfa like Middleton we would have to sign h to a contract that is nasty for the bucks to look at. That is the reality of rfa my bet is the bucks will still match any offer knicks fans and the team better be prepared for secondary free agents

Thats the issue...he is a second tier free agent, at best. he's nowhere close to 16 mil a year type player.

Then you have to pass, it bad contract like the one you are proposing that restrict movement. You said you want to remain liquid and flexible. Until something really good comes along. You can't take that type of contract on.

You don't pay inconsistent players ridiculous sums of money that gets in the way of other deals to meet needs a reasonable sum is what makes sense 8-9 million range maybe.

How is he inconsistent? He is very consistent. Can you explain your reasoning in detail if you have the time. WHat are you basing your opinion of.

I am asking you why do you think he is a second tier FA? His game, youth, and potential says other wise.
