We have almost nothing. We can't compete at an athletic level.
We lack everything. No point stating the obvious

It will be better when Calderon returns

Hopefully we can start with an athletic frontcourt player and go from there. We need to be able to compete from the pivot the wing and the PG positions. Fill in with three point shooters athletes a quality secondary pivot back ups and we'll be finr

bada bing!
that is why everyone on the team must go except for galloway.... when you win under 20 games there isn't much worth salvaging... waive hardaway if you have to...
We can't do anything about this till the off season so I dunno why I even said anything. I should have ignored this thread but I just can't help myself

And yet, curiously, almost about twice a week, you talk about trading these same players to other teams for assets.
You can't have it both ways Briggs. You can't lament a player like Calderon and demand he be jettisoned via the stretch provision one week then try to make a compelling argument ( let's emphasis the word "try" here) that he's a perfect fit to send over for Jrue Holiday and other pieces.
You can't laud a player for giving a team statistic X and counting number Y and say who else can give those numbers then decide that player is only going to make 4 million over two years for the Knicks on some wildly out of whack to market conditions contract. You can't have it both ways.
The current NBA landscape, no team near the top got there overnight. It tooks YEARS and YEARS to get there for those teams. Many had to build their asset base slow and painfully. And yet despite all this, you keep demanding the Knicks sacrifice future assets to swing for the fences, because you believe Prospect X and Prospect Y can't miss, that it's impossible for them to do anything but produce at a historic rate, contrary to just about all known rate of return for panning out for NBA draft picks, esp later ones.
It's exactly following the short term thinking/quick fix/reactionary/lack of impulse control problems you have that have brought the NY Knicks to their current hell right now.
"Why aren't they doing it MY WAY?" you lament.
Dude, they have been doing it your way, which is why they are currently the least talented team right now in the NBA with a nearly bare asset base.
We'd have been better off if Briggs or just about anyone here had been running the Knicks the last 15 years.
But I agree that there is no quick fix for this disaster - and the notion of trading any future pick is stupid.
I love it when Briggs has his moments of clairvoyance and starts a thread.
That, or its a liquor induced rant?
Either way he is usually right.
Briggs has the benefit of picking 20 guys for the draft he likes. At some point there is a choice to make. For that none of us are accountable. We have the worst record in the NBA so its pretty freaking obvious we are lacking.
Now its pretty obvious things in NY have been wrong for a long time. The fact we hit rock bottom is a healthy sign.
For those who say "Hassan Whiteside" just remember this is a kid who has bounced around a few years and could not stick with anyone.
I don't consider the spurs as an athletic team.....they have a few athletes and but mostly high basketball IQ players. I believe Phil will try to use that same model which is why he traded for Calderon. He will continue to add high IQ players mixed with a few athletes. Hopefully he obtains the right balance. And i hope he's not afraid of getting 2 picks for 1 even though most fans disagree...... This draft is loaded with athletic roll players. I only see a few potential stars. Also i don't trust that our system is a good fit for young low IQ players. After the top 3....with Winslow and that freshmen guard from duke included...everybody else we select should be seniors like kaminsky types..... I think there's a lot of value towards the end of the 1st round or beginning of second with the seniors being pushed down due to this freshmen class and euro players. It happens every year. Some won't even get drafted.

This is actually a personal dig--not necessary and you've been subtly doing it for sometime and I have said nothing. I don't drink my man and your obnoxious attitude is certainly noted. Hey I'm a big fan and so are most people here and this losing has gone on way to long. You have 10,000 of K of posts and maybe 5% are on the Knicks--I don't see anyone posting negative connotations towards you? If you havent noticed in 10 years I always cut my list to 1-2-3 players at the draft as in first choice 2nd choice third choice for a pick with some 2nd round names thrown in. I just made a list with a final mock I put Towns/Okafor Kaminsky and Hanlan as my choices as 2 first and as second and noted its still likely impossible to even conceive of getting this. I would choose to ignore me Nolad if it s get s you this upset on a basketball forum??? Go get your self some duck soup and relax chief.
But is that quality really all that important in basketball? Don't we just need high BB IQ and a really brilliant GM? And a good young coach? Or just Pop? Or Tim Duncan?

You're a loyal fan. No one can take that away from you. Your logic falls into rabbit holes at times, but you eventually dig your way out. Here's to mud on your face, Skaol!

i don't know what the devil you are talking about. ginobili, parker, duncan, and leonard are tremendous athletes, it just so happens that the muscles they use for excelling at the game of basketball are not the ones used for dunking and sprinting forward. really a bizarre statement that deserves a clear explanation.
I'm keeping THjr. He had a setback year, but I think he will improve. No sense waiving him. We need warm bodies to put on the court.

It's not you. They haven't made sense lately.

well I would trade him for a smarter player or a first rounder in this draft or next. Im not dumping him, there is some value but I would love to see a different player here next year
I am still hopeful we miracously get rid of Calderon by attaching THJ. We don't have enough cap room right now
I like Shved and Galloway whether they start or come off the bench. I'm not too worried about the guard position in the triangle. Both guys play hard and are smart. They are adequate enough.
Draft Towns or OK4
Go hard after Butler
Go hard after MONROE or Ajinca

WHAT?
I guess you can only make this statement if you have a high bball IQ.
I am not sure WTF you consider an "athlete"
What, the great Bargs is one of the most athletic big men in the world and Hardaway is extremely athletic. Shump and JR were both extremely athletic too. Unfortunately those guys suck. Smith is okay sometimes and is not as bad as the others but he is what he is.
Bottom line it's not about being the most athletic team. The Knicks need a talent upgrade super athletic or not.

not everyone has athletic brains
