C I don't like that we have atleast TRIED to bring up 2 frontcourt players/rim protectors to get a look. We have 0 frontcourt players signed--wouldnt it behoove the Knicks to take a look at more? Are we satisfied with what we have here?
D Why didnt we give another PG a chance---we are ALSO light on PG. Im all for giving Larkin a chance but we did not make good use of D league PG hopefuls. As far as I can see we have ONLY 1 PG signed and I doubt he ever plays 1 more game again with the KNicks?
We had many games to rotate 2-3 guys in and off the roster to take a look in an NBA setting but we chose not to. Guys like Acy and Wear couldve been waived and we couldve used those two spots to rotate 10 day contracts. ??

And keeping Bargs reminds us of our negative past, but do we have enough talent to cut our most consistent big? The question I want Phil to answer is if he's willing to match any offer, or just stick to his own offer, which most likely will be lower than others. Is he going to allow the market to set his value, or provide an early offer now, and risk out bidding ourselves? Something we are known to do....
It's a good question....What do you do with Bargs, who at times can be a 20 pt scorer. I think he has value, and I would use his value in a future trade. I see players like stocks. Why through away stocks, when you can trade for different stocks at the same price. Sign and trade him to another team (if that's possible)...Instead of letting him walk for free....

Doesnt work like that. Hes an UFA he doesnt have to say boo to the Knicks and leave for nothing.

he doesn't have value for the knicks and their agenda. he's a bench player who does not create for others, does not defend or rebound at a championship level, and does not score efficiently within a team concept.
he would have some value as an 8th man on a top 6 team with a strong culture and leadership in place, so long as he plays no more than 20-24 minutes a game-- that way you limit the liabilities he brings every time he steps on the floor. the knicks are far far away from this.

Bargnani is terrible and he has put in a few good games in the second half of the season because he wants a contract.
He never brings consistent effort. He's only engaged if he's treated like the featured offensive player and you can't possibly be a playoff team if Bargnani is your featured offensive player.

I'm wise to Bargs. I'm going to pass on him. Two straight years Bargs shows up injured for the Knicks. This is a player that does not take good care of himself as soon as he signs a contract I guarantee that he plays in about half of the games. This is nothing more than a contract run on his part.

This isn't his first stretch of decent ball since he's been with the Knicks. He produced in points whenever he was healthy for us. He played just as good as he's been playing recently for us last year when he was healthy. If we can get him cheap then he's definitely worth having but i wouldn't go out of the way to try and beat other teams offers. His one on one defense isn't that bad but his team defense and help defense is pretty bad.

I agree if the Knicks can get him on the cheap. Something like 5-8 million per year.

Bargs is simply healthy for the 1st time in years. As I said over and over he's much better the more touches he gets. It keeps him active and engaged. Bargs is a great fit as I said he should be and his only issue was health. Now he has to maintain that good health for an entire season. He's had a run of bad luck but he's not someone who has had to have all these surgeries like you'd expect with a guy who is injury prone. I think he's going to be able to revive his career and be a useful big, but it's very hard to say how other teams feel about him. How much trust is there out there for him? How much would a team really want to invest in him based on his reputation for missing games? I'd say the Knicks have a better than 50/50 chance of keeping him, but you never know.
Phil is going to have to focus on the top of the rotation. The draft pick is going to be key to what we do in Free Agency IMO. I expect that Jose will be stretched in order to regain some of that cap space. It's unfortunate but I see no reason to bring him back. That would give us another $4 mil in cap space and pretty much cover Shved's qualifying offer. At that point it's really going to be about the approach Phil takes in Free Agency. Aside from our draft pick none of our young guys are going to be cost prohibitive.

Yes, I guess you bring bargs back- but no way we pay more than vet min for 1 year. If his agent says he has an offer for more elsewhere, wish him luck and go find the first undrafted 6'10" or taller NCAA 4 year player, even if its at a Div 3 school.
