and I really believe this.
Getting picks 1-2-3 were kind of set up for a team to "have" to keep to the form of the draft. Meaning less thinking for Knicks management.
Now that every and any scenario is on board we have to have confidence that we will do right by an owner(Dolan) his right jand man who has done little right(Thomas) and the figurehead(Jackson) who is there to take the fall for 12mm per year.
The constant with our high draft oicks have been perfection--all failure. EVERY decision made with a lottery pick for 10 years has failed. So why exactly do Knick fans have confidence at 4 now that no brainer is not a scenario what makes a Knick fan think we will do something right?
Here's my scenarios of what I think the Knicks will do
A. I believed this for awhile--the Knicks will draft Willie Stein and sign Greg Monroe
B. Somehow some way the Knicks will use the 4 pick to use to trade to a team for a player like Tobias Harris for example where we have to give him a max contract and the Magic S+T him here effectively using two major assets for one player.
C. Trade down for Kaminsky--this is an option if you look at the triangle--this would be my preference out of the above. The shtty part would be if we had to use pick 4 on Kaminsky without added compensation.
The other scenarios with Mudaiy Winslow Porzingis et al are developmental players that Jim Dolan wont do. Thats a problem but why would a dumb arse like Dolan all of a sudden change? Hes not. Thats why S Mills put his head down.
Two freaking wins at the end of the season are the reasons why we are in this position.
what lottery picks have we had in the last 10 years? Most have been traded, rarely have they been this high (if we were actually making them)
i don't think stein is in the plans... mainly because chandler got dealt quickly...
#4 does bring a possibility of something crazy stupid happening.... and the nightmare scenario of kristaps porzingis being announced...

Exactly--we either traded them before/during or right after we made them.
I agree. I don't see how we're taking Mudaiy either. I think A is a possibility and C is definitely preferable of the three. I think (hope) we're not dumb enough to do B.

I bet we get #1 next year!

The Knicks as a team needed to have a no brainer--because putting our thought process into it has been a failure running for years. Right now the Knicks are getting killed on Twitter jokes galore--but lets face it--we deserve it. Right before the draft Jin Dolan puts IT back into position as a President in MSG worse no less than "Liberty" and anyone thinks were getting pick #1? Not if God is involved.
I started reading and half way thru said wow, a thread where he didn't suggest trading down for Kaminsky..
Had we gotten the first pick, many teams would be at our door with great offers. It was stupid to win those two games

excellent point...i hate when the knicks have to THINK

Right now with me its probably trade down for Kaminsky or draft Mudiay on or the other. Im not big on WCS as some others. Maybe Im wrong. I didnt like that Winslow came in at 6-4.5 barefeet. I think he may end up being a tweener.
Jonathan Givony @DraftExpress
Mudiay at 4 can't be considered a done deal, as much as it makes sense. Doubtful Phil Jackson made it to China in time. Workout will be huge
well there are 4... maybe 5 really good players who have a great case to be in the top 4-5.... and the difference between 2-4 is not that big...
we don't have to think that much... just take whoever falls to us... russell/winslow might be a hard choice... mudiay/winslow for some others might be close also... but they're all good to potentially great players.. and all have flaws that might see them bust...
we can't over think this and trade it for a middling veteran or draft a euro... just do your due diligence and pick whoever is left of the guards...
usually agree with ya briggs, but i don't here. when's the last time the knicks had a chance to take a guy like mudiay? probably never, since the highest lotto spot we've had is pick 9 in recent years. i don't think dolan gets in the way of this. i'm happy with mudiay (more happy with russell) and i don't see why we're not able to get one of those two guys. i also have no problem with trading down for kaminsky - as long as it nets an established nba player and a few draft picks as well.
this whole night sucked, but it could be alot worse, we could be at 5 and that really would fuck things up for us.

Are you actually that confident about Mudiay? None of us knows what this kid can do. I hope Philly pick this dude.

5 would be fine. Either Winslow or Mudiay. 6 would be doom
The problem is we needed a franchise front court player- the free agent options are trash. Say we take mudiay or Winslow - how the heck are you rounding off the roster? Also without Towns or Ok4 we have less pull for free agents.
