Nothing controversial there, but still people will lay into him and demand he shut up!

No, just stupid. Modern NBA offenses that have adapted the SSOL are designed to get shots at the hoop and 3-pointers and to reduce the number of mid-range jumpers. This is because shots at the basket are made at a higher rate than any other shot and 3-pointers are worth 50% more than 2-pointers. Also, he just build a team that took fewer shots at the rim than any other team in the league but led in the league in shots between 16' and the 3-point line.

He's not discounting the 3PT shot he's just saying that you can win games with quality 2PT shots.

This years team is not the litmus test on what Phil's concept of a good team is. Things didn't work as planned. We get it. There's 20 years of evidence to use in order to get a good idea of what Phil wants to do with this team.

He's never been against 3pt shooting. He's had some of the best 3pt shooters on his teams. He simply isn't a fan of making the 3 the crux of the offense. He's won titles just recently with teams that weren't high 3pt attempt teams verses teams that took more 3's. His last Lakers title team was as efficient as the Warriors are despite not taking a lot of 3's.

Offensive Efficiency Rating
2007-08 Lakers - 113.0
2008-09 Lakers - 112.8
2009-10 Lakers - 108.8
2010-11 Lakers - 111.0

2014-15 Warriors - 111.6

Is there anything wrong with that lol Let's hope he gets some scouting in at the same time.

Perimeter defenders like Shump don't grow on trees..A 3.9 mil per next year, he is a steal...Shump is healthy and defending at a high level in the playoffs..

Inconsistent players can be found ever year. I remember Shump helped us beat the Celtics three seasons ago and I hoped he would turn the corner. So far Shump has been player who follows one with above average play with another sub par season. I'm glad Shump is playing well now, he still hasn't proven that he's dependable enough to start on most rosters.

He is a role player...Role player are inconsistent..If he wasn't inconsistent he would be a star..We want all our draft picks to be stars..He doesn't show up every night, that's ok..we need those type of players too...

I don't agree with this. Charles Oakley was a role player and he was our second most consistent player. Tony Allen is a role player, but you know what he's going to bring every night. Shump was inconsistent in all areas of the game. His could be good and frustrating in the same week. There were some nights where he was unstoppable on offense and there other nights were the opposingvteam had their bigmen guarding him

Well maybe that's the problem we keep getting inconsistent players. We need consistent role players and IMHO, the defining characteristic of a role player IS consistency or have one of a limited set of skills which they can bring consistently. Otherwise their just scrubs.

Oak was horrible offensively in the beginning...I remember the movie with Westley Snipes, Sugar Hill where Romello's brother was pissed wondering, who Oakley couldn't hit a layup..I disagree with you...He shouldn't looked upon as an offensive talent..His value is defense..It's not something we need or value until you get to the playoffs..He has been consistently shutting down the opposing scorer..

He never had the right pieces around him which is why you might be looking for him to score..Scoring from him is gravy...

Well Cleveland doesn't need him to score and he looks like a star...He is the same player that was here only healthier and Cleveland wants his defense and it's a com, pletely different approach to the game...

He didn't "build" a team yet, V...he dismantled one. Still had to suit guys up for the games, even if we were tanking.

The building part comes now. You're jumping the gun with your criticism.
