Just saw this on rotoworld that he wants to play for D.Fisher because they used to workout together. This is good news if Phil wants him that is.
We already have a sf...The money is better spend addressing other needs..
Carroll is unique because he allows us to play bigger or smaller without sacrificing on either end of the floor.
C Monroe
F Anthony
F Carroll
G Galloway
G Mudiay/Russell
or
C Monroe
F whoever
F Anthony
G Carroll
G Mudiay/Russell
My dream team since we blew the lottery has been:
C-M.Gasol
PF-Monroe
SF-Melo
SG-Carroll
PG-Russell or Mudiay
Why can't he be our SG specifically if we an draft Russell?

I originally felt the same way but he fits a need as a 2-3-4 combo that spreads the floor and defends multiple positions. He would either start at the 2 or share the frontcourt with Melo.
no way... he's going to be expensive... he's a role player who's old who's going to ask for four years...
want no part of him...

29 is old?
If he really wants to play in New York he is going to have to take less but this will be his first significant contract so he is going to go for the money.
And he wants the Knicks because they are the most likely team to max him out and severely overpay

yes.. when you are a role player who just started to play well in the last couple of years... that is pretty old...
and he'll be 33 whenever his next contract ends...

If he is 33 when his contract ends, then we will have gotten all of his prime years out of him.

And a correction, he is not yet 29 and would be 32 when his contract expires. I definitely do not see that as an issue.

On what planet can they afford Monroe, Gasol and Carroll with $27M in cap room?
Not this planet obviously lol
You can take Monrow out and it would still be a very good team
According to a source close to Carroll, he has a desire to play for Knicks coach Derek Fisher, who used to be his workout partner in Southern California a few years back.

Plus he's the only FA who seemed to genuinely like the idea of becoming a Knick when asked about it at allstar weekend
I was all for signing Monroe to play alongside Towns but now that we blew it. I would go hard after Gasol. We desperately need a top defensive presence in the middle. An unselfish 2way big which will do wonders for the triangle

Carroll and Monroe would be a very solid FA haul.

For some reason, once Melo turned 30, this board started acting like it was 40- now they have to continue this fallacy by applying it to other players to save face.

Carrol can play the 2 or the 3 and he would fit perfectly next to Melo. He plays defense and can hit the three ball.
