Justise Winslow received strong feedback from the New York Knicks following his workout Monday at the team's training facility, according to sources familiar with the proceedings.

League sources familiar with the team's thinking said after the workout that Winslow is "definitely in play" for the Knicks, who will select fourth in the NBA draft on June 25. The sources said the Knicks provided "positive feedback" to Winslow after he put forth a strong performance in the workout.

Winslow isn't the only potential lottery pick working out for New York this week.

The Knicks are scheduled to work out top point guard prospect Emmanuel Mudiay on Tuesday at the team facility.

Also, D'Angelo Russell told reporters Monday in Los Angeles that he has a workout scheduled with the Knicks. The date for that workout is not yet known.

New York is scheduled to work out Kentucky big man Willie Cauley-Stein and Murray State guard Cameron Payne later this month.

Sources familiar with the team's thinking say New York is intrigued by Winslow and Cauley-Stein and plans to take a "serious" look at Payne.

With more than two weeks to go before the draft, there is time for the team's thinking to change. Winslow likely will work out for other teams selecting in the top 10 in the draft.

That the Knicks are still high on Winslow following Monday's workout, though, is a positive for the Duke forward. As previously noted, one thing the Knicks undoubtedly like about Winslow is his ability to defend.

New York finished 28th in defensive efficiency and 30th in opponent 3-point field-goal percentage the past season.

Scouts believe Winslow, who is 6-foot-7 with a 6-foot-10 wingspan, will be able to defend multiple positions at the next level. Scouts say one of Winslow's strengths is his lateral quickness, which could help the Knicks slow opponents on the perimeter.

I would be happy if we drafted winslow or mudiay at 4. It may take them a little while to make a impact but thats fine. They both may end up having the most upside. We arent in win now mode anyway realistically

I'm warming up to Winslow. I'll take him or Mudiay, if the draft goes as expected

yeah after the Big 3, mudiay and winslow are clearly the best avaiable with the best upside. However you never know one of the Big 3 may fall although i dont expect them to

I'm fine with Winslow, WCS, Porzingis, Russell or Mudiay at 4.

If Winslow and WCS switched teams, I think Winslow would've put up the same stats. He knows how to impact the offense, without having any offensive plays called for him. And he knows how to play off of another superstar.

I think WCS would've increased his stats as well, but he currently doesn't have any go to moves on offense....At least he didn't show it in college. He could be somebody that blossoms in the NBA, or just a defensive roll player.

Winslow (as a freshmen) already showed his 2 way potential in college. So you can assume he will have a 2 way game in the NBA, which gives him a slight (very slight) edge over WCS....It's just hard to pass up a 7 footer with guard like movements and instincts. It's like having a 7 foot Winslow, without the 3 pt touch, which means he can also protect the rim. The knicks really need both of them, with Kaminsky on the side. All 3 would fill most of the major needs.

So it's clear we need multiple picks in this draft, and use free agency to fill in the rest.

tough one... it would be nice to get a playmaker. A guy who can create easier offense for other players. That or a bigman... but I guess were picking from the best of the rest.

I see Winslow as a Caron Butler type. Good player.

Prime Caron Butler, Jimmy Butler, that mold of player. Good comps. Hopefully he can develop into a successful SG in this league.

Just wish we had gotten some real comments about how actually worked out and the kind of drills he was put through.

Just knowing the drills tells you what they are looking for, and maybe even gives you an idea of what they think his weaknesses might be. The only reason you don't take Winslow is that you see some kind of flaw in his shooting or ability to get his shot off that you feel cannot be fixed.

If you saw the Johnson video, you saw a guy with a shooting style that might be difficult to tinker with, unlike Mudiay, IMO, who has some mechanics issues that seem fixable to me.

Everything else about Winslow makes him worthy of the 4 spot, and if his shot is more polished you might even see him go to Philly if LA actually does take Russell.

Annoying to not get specifics or even something you can chew on, even though I understand the silence.

How can "wannabe" GMs like us make good choices without the right info?

What could a workout tell you that you haven't seen in a game situation??

Gotta keep the teams picking 1-3 or even below you guessing....It gives us an edge.

What if it's like the Steph Curry situation.....I don't think Steph would've went before us, if we didn't continue to pump him up. Private workouts are fine with me, as long as they are actually working them out. Winslow might be the real deal, or not.....It's a chess match that none of us are playing. We are just spectators. The funny thing is the draft could still lay out like they predicted months ago.....But this is just normal stuff to explore all options.

How well the guy plays against invisible defenders

He is more athletic than Caron Bulter and has more intangibles..He is a great defender that can lock down a SG and hopfully a SF..He also rebounds well for a SG..He has a very high motor...

I'm glad the Knicks aren't tipping their hand all that much. I'd like to keep teams guessing about what we're gonna do on draft. Don't show film from the workouts, don't give people too much info.

I'd be okay with Winslow. I'm glad to see the Knicks front office is leaning towards Winslow or Stein - that's pretty much where I'm at. I think I'd still prefer Stein because I feel you can get a Winslow type in FA relatively easy, much more easily than you can get a defensive anchor at center.

Came in here to say exactly the same thing. I agree with all the above

That's a very good comparison, totally agree. Not a star, but a really solid 2-way guy.

They will frequently use live defenders of some sort in these drills.

Really want to see if he has modified his shot off the dribble, which was horrible during the year.

Some have said his 3pt success this year could be an outlier, too. I would like to see him in that drill they did with Stanley Johnson where he did had to put the shots up rapid fire or maybe where he would have to come off a pick, receive a pass, and get a good shot off like a Thompson, Redick, or Kover can do.

I know you guys realize that you tailor the drills you put prospects through to mimic the situations they might be in when they play for you, but you also place them in situations where they are known to be uncomfortable or deficient.

Plenty of things you can learn.

I agree as well and it's been my biggest point of contention. When all things are equal you have to take the 7'er. We can find players who can do exactly what Winslow does in Free Agency, but there is no 7'er we can get that can defend PnR as well as WCS and especially not for anywhere near as cheap as his rookie contract. Still if Phil felt Winslow was the best value i'd have no problem with that. He's a quality pick at #4.
