Meh! I think that's underselling just how athletic WCS actually is. Of course they're very similar in terms of being defensive big men with limited offense, but I think WCS would be considered a much more talented Prospect. WCS has much more upside IMO. Robin has done pretty well given where he started. I think WCS can be a lot closer to what Tyson Chandler has been but with the chance to be better offensively.

I could live with that lineup... but do you think Melo would really go back to playing PF? I feel like he's against that. His agency, CAA, spurred the Bargnani trade to get Melo out of the 4 spot. I do think Melo is best at the 4 and I'd be curious to see what he'd look like next to a Winslow or Tobias Harris.

I just feel like it's a lock that Melo will be at the 3 and Monroe at the 4 on opening night.

He isn't worth the 4th pick..He won't be a difference maker like Lopez when Winslow has a much higher upside...

Maybe he is Nerlens Noel 2.0?

I believe Phil will build a flexible team where each player will play multiple positions. I believe Melo at the 4 will be better for his career health wise. Not sure how much pull CCA has but melo normally plays both forward spots.

Robin Lopez is very similar to WCS.....but not as fluent with his feet or agility. For example....Lopez is more like a tight end.....Stein is a fluent wide receiver. I would love to add him if available though. And i dont know about Monroe at 4.....Depends on who plays the 5. The problem is i dont like him ar 4 or 5......It would have to be a big like Bargs....Kaminsky. ....Porzingis to play next to him. ...becuase the paint would be too crowded......and transistion offense would be slow and boring. Stein or Winslow adds speed and youth. Need to follow that strategy.

Noel athleticism looks much more coordinated...Noel had much better numbers at KU...9.5 boards 4.4 blks 2.1 stls for a first year player..Stein's first year numbers weren't even close...

Re: Melo and CAA - I don't think CAA wants Melo to play the 3 necessarily. I think he's told them he wants to play the 3 and they are trying to get him what he wants as his agency.

I don't love Robin Lopez - he's certainly decent. I just think Stein could be an all-star level defender, which I do not see from Lopez. I think Stein has a chance to look like young Camby here - the 99 Camby who was flying all over teams in the playoffs.

I think Monroe is a 5 and will be there opening night. The 4 position will belong to Bargnani, T Harris, or Melo if they put him there.

I'm just thinking about Phil's Lakers team - 7'0" Bynum at center, 7'0" Gasol at PF, 6'10" Odom at SF. I think Phil likes size at every position.

I could really see him going:

Galloway 6'2"
Carroll 6'8"
Melo 6'8"
Monroe 6'10"
WCS 7'0"

Or something like that. I think if Winslow was 6'8" he'd absolutely be the pick - instead he's like 6'6" in shoes, which is small for a small forward and I'm not sure he can play SG as far as lateral quickness and all that. If he can, I think he may be the pick.

holfresh @ 6/9/2015 3:15 PM
If Winslow learn how to shoot, he has the makeup to be a star...He has the intangibles of Draymond Green which we saw in the NCAA Tournament...He will be a top defender..He currently shoots 42% from the three..His form isn't fluid..If he improves as a shooter, he is a star...

I'm fine with Winslow, WCS or Payne (Russell won't be there)

Monroe
Melo
Winslow
Carroll

This lineup could be a real nasty small ball line up offensively, especially in the triangle. It would give a lot of defenses fits on how to deal with Melo. Winslow coming from a team where he played with Okafor would know how to defend around Monroe real well.

fishmike wrote:tough one... it would be nice to get a playmaker. A guy who can create easier offense for other players. That or a bigman... but I guess were picking from the best of the rest.

I see Winslow as a Caron Butler type. Good player.

I'd forgotten about Caron Butler- he was really good in his prime, I'd take that.

You're not getting Asik for $6mil- he's not very good, but he'll probably land $10mil, like Robin Lopez

He did have better numbers but who's to say that Stein didn't improve or will surpass Noel. I will say Noel was a better ball handler, his straight line drives were pretty good but I think Stein can get there and may become the better shooter. Plus, most 7ft goes look more awkawrd doing the same thing 6'9 or 6'10 players do for some reason.

I still don't want Stein at 4 I do think he is better than Lopez though because of his mobility and offensive rebounding potential.

Lopez makes 5.3mil per..I won't pay him or Asik 10 mil...Asik didn't live up to his 8 per average deal..I wouldn't be giving him a raise..

I've been thinking about the same but with different players:

WCS
Melo
Carrol
Middleton
Gallo

Overpay for Carrol/Middleton and hope for the best.

OR

WCS
Milsap
Melo
Carrol
Gallo

OR

Alexis Ajinca
WCS
Melo
Carrol
Gallo

Both of these appeal to me. Middleton is my #1 "kinda sorta maybe available" RFA. I think ultimately the Bucks will match (FWIW, he's also said he wants to stay in Milwaukee)

I think a similar type of lineup could be:

WCS
Harris
Melo
Carroll
Gallo
