Phil Jackson taught Emmanuel Mudiay a little bit about the triangle offense during Mudiay's visit with the New York Knicks earlier this week.

Mudiay talked about his visit with the Knicks during his workout for the media in California on Thursday, according to the New York Post.

Mudiay worked out for members of the organization on Tuesday. He had dinner with Jackson, coach Derek Fisher and others prior to the workout.

Mudiay told the newspaper that he was impressed with Fisher.

“He’s a real good person,” Mudiay said. “With him just coming out of the NBA, I feel like he could teach me a lot, whether I go to that team or not. Just him as a person, he just likes to help other people.”

The Knicks scouted Mudiay extensively during his season in China and it's clear that he is one of several players they'd consider drafting with the No. 4 pick in the draft.

Mudiay said at Thursday's workout that he'd have no problem fitting into the triangle offense, which was a topic of conversation during his dinner with Jackson and other members of the organization.

“I feel like I can adjust to any system, to any style of play,” he said, according to the New York Post. “I can play a half-court system, too. … [The triangle] is challenging, but I think the more you get into it, the more you learn it, the more you understand it.”

Mudiay added: “It puts you in spots to be successful."

Mudiay has also worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers. He will work out for the Philadelphia 76ers and the Minnesota Timberwolves prior to the draft.

Knicks will see Porzingis on Friday: The Knicks will be among many NBA teams in Las Vegas on Friday to watch Kristaps Porzingis work out, a league source told ESPN.com's Ian Begley.

The ASM Sports group -- one of the biggest sports agencies in the NBA, headed by agent Andy Miller -- will host a workout for Porzingis and several other prospects, including Texas' Myles Turner and LSU's Jarell Martin.

Most NBA teams will attend the workout.

Monroe leaving Detroit? If you're a Knicks fan, there was a transaction made on Thursday that may affect your team's future.

Ersan Ilyasova was traded from Milwaukee to Detroit for Caron Butler and Shawne Williams. Ilyasova gives Detroit insurance at power forward in case Greg Monroe leaves in free agency. Monroe has been linked to the Knicks as one of their top free-agent targets. That Detroit traded for Ilyasova leads you to believe they aren't very confident about retaining Monroe.

I don't know enough about Mudiay to know how good he is now or how good he can be. But I sure hope the Knicks do their research on him. I'd be okay taking him if Phil and his staff think he's the one.

Im kinda surprised many are against drafting mudiay. Yes he didnt play college and shooting needs works but he has got major upside. He is only a kid and may end up being the best player out of the draft when all is said and done

To be honest in that latest video in the DX link above... he looks like a 6'5" Lebron James to me.

Exactly. How do people pass on a 6'5 pure PG with that type of build and athleticism? And his shot looked quicker and smoother in the video. We can't judge his shooting on these videos. Some will make him look good and some will make him look bad. But the body and athletic ability for a PG are undeniable.

At 4 he is probably the best available unless one of the top 3 fall. Winslow is another guy i wouldnt mind. The euro player is too risky at 4.

Yeah, part of me feels he will be better than Russell and passing on him may be the equivalent of passing on Chris Paul. Sigh. So confused about this draft at this rate.

So because he sprained an ankle you now think he has a higher chance of being injury-prone? Come on man. He has the same chance as anyone else in this draft.

To me Porzingis runs like a guy who will get seriously injured. These things are such a toss up. But Mudiay is built like a tier one athlete. He could miss, but I don't think it'll be due to his body breaking down.

Nice video. I'd be perfectly happy to take this kid at #4 (if we don't get some crazy ass trade with Minny). He will likely be the BPA and certainly the one with the most upside. Plus, we need a PG of the future. He would lock-up that position for us for the next 15 years.

Regarding his shot, it's not too bad. Wish his release were quicker, but that will likely come with reps. A playmaking PG with his size will be terrific on the weak side in the Triangle. He can run P&R with Melo or a big, and post up if he gets matched on a smaller guard.

Winslow is going to be a solid role player in the league, but I just don't see him having tremendous upside potential.

Draft him at 4....buy another pick like Phil is trying to do. And take Kaminsky since he will fall like the stock market. Or Turner....There will be a few options to pick from at the end of the 1st round. But picking Mudiay is like swinging for a homerun....he has that elite potential to be great, and possibly the top 3 pick in this draft. Almost a young Dwade type. And he did very well for himself, without a 3 pt jumpshot.

Yeah, theoretically, you could have Calderon or Galloway play the traditional Triangle PG role and have Mudiay in the sort of "Kobe" role on the wing. Defensively, Mudiay and Galloway would be pretty solid... theoretically...

Mudiay represents something the Knicks are so desperate for... a guy who can create for others. We dont have a single player who really does that well and its Mudiay's calling card. You can knocks the CBA all you want, but he played well against grown men and pros. After he got hurt he stuck around, stayed ready and showed some toughness when thrown into the fire in the playoffs. If this guy is the pick over all the others we looked at you have to be pretty excited about his upside.

According to Phil....He's targeting guys like Mudiay and WCS.

He wants guys that can get to the rim (Mudiay)

And guys that can protect the rim (WCS)

He doesn't care for 3 pt shooters (Kaminsky)

Phil will find his outside shooters like Novak in free agency or the d league. But i don't see him using a high pick on a 3 pt shooter.

Attack the rim and protect the rim is Phils building strategy. Thats the exact opposite of what we've seen in years at the Garden. But it's exactly what we need!

So before all the Kaminsky lovers chime in.....I'm not saying you only add rim attackers and rim protectors.....You need a balance of everything.

But Phil is building this team with attackers and protectors as the back bone of the team. Which is a great building strategy if possible. The problem is WCS will be gone if we pick Mudiay. Mudiay will be gone if we pick WCS.

This is exactly right. Wouldn't be surprised to see Mudiay and Calderon as the starting back court next season. Mudiay will be the play-making wing and Calderon will serve as a spot up shooter and facilitator. Same with Galloway.

Very Nice video.... It has definitely changed my views on him. Extremely athletic, already known as a person with good vision and an attacking style,He is physically NBA ready as well so I wouldn't be against the pick up either.

Agreed. If we pick Mudiay, it's hard to find a guy like Stein on the FA market. If we pick Stein, it's hard to find a guy like Mudiay on the FA market. It's easier to find a Winslow type, I think, so unless you feel he's really special, better than Mudiay or Stein...

But I agree about attacking the rim and creating for others. And protecting the rim. Those are my two concerns in building the team. It's pretty easy to find good 3 and D guys to fill in the blanks. But if the Knicks have a strong defensive center and a PG who can get to the rim and create for others and Melo on the wing scoring 25ppg... that's the makings of a tough team.

I can talk myself into Mudiay or Stein. Winslow seems like the safe pick, but yeah, he doesn't have the same potential to really change the way this team can play.

Don't be surprised at two things....

1. Mudiay will get picked up by Philly.
2. Mudiay will have a better NBA career than Russell.

On the flip side, Russell will look better in the triangle, than in Philly's system (whatever that is).
