The Suns have discussed Eric Bledsoe trade scenarios with other teams, including the Knicks, and are likely to continue to do so after the draft if they haven’t dealt him by then, according to sources who spoke with Sean Deveney of The Sporting News. The No. 4 overall pick was also a subject of talks with New York, Deveney notes, adding on Twitter that the team has shopped Bledsoe to the Knicks and just about every team higher up on the lottery. It’s not clear whether he means higher than the Knicks or higher than themselves, as Phoenix is set to pick 13th.

Bledsoe is one season into a five-year, $70MM deal. That Phoenix would be willing, or even eager, to trade Bledsoe is somewhat surprising and represents an apparent shift in thinking from last summer. That’s when the team re-signed Bledsoe and signed-and-traded for Isaiah Thomas, banking that they and Goran Dragic would work in a backcourt that featured three highly skilled point guards. The Suns traded Thomas and Dragic at the deadline, as well as 2014 first-round pick Tyler Ennis, who’s also a point guard. The deadline moves did bring in Brandon Knight, who’s poised to become a restricted free agent next week.

Knicks team president Phil Jackson has indicated a willingness to trade the No. 4 pick, though Bledsoe would appear to be the most significant target yet to emerge. Still, it’s unclear what other assets, if any, New York would have to relinquish to acquire the Rich Paul client.

Bledsoe’s scoring output regressed slightly on the same 12.9 shots per game he saw last season. He put up 17.0 points in 2014/15 after notching 17.7 PPG in fewer minutes during 2013/14. Still, the 25-year-old bettered his assists, with 6.1 per game this year, and rebounds, with 5.2, again showing his versatility. Suns president of basketball operations Lon Babby is moving into a reduced role with the club, though that shouldn’t have had too much of an effect on the team’s philosophy with GM Ryan McDonough still entrenched.

hahaha!

Still dont see the talented Bledsoe as a difference maker
he doesnt score enough nor is consistent a passer enough (assist)

I'd trade for him but #4 pick ? You really gotta think about that
Bledsoe isnt to me a Chris Paul whom I'd do a #4th pick for

yellowboy90 @ 6/22/2015 10:31 PM
Next year they will trade Knight.
y2zipper @ 6/22/2015 10:43 PM
This is a deal you can't make given Bledsoe's contract and production...
TPercy @ 6/22/2015 11:43 PM
Phil is a huge idiot if he does this
JrZyHuStLa @ 6/23/2015 8:02 AM
If Russell is off the board this is a decent trade.

Bledsoe and Lyles can very well be > Pick 4.

It would be Russell plus the free agent you would have signed with that $13mm, not just Russell. No, I don't think I would do this unless I was getting more back. I don't think Bledsoe is better than Russell's upside and I don't think Lyles is as good as a $13mm big... And I would guess Bledsoe has an opt out after three years, so you are buying two guaranteed years of a player. Steep price .

But they won't be better than pick 4 and $57 mil in cap space over the next 4 years.
Phoenix would have to throw in 2 1st round picks for me to do this.

Great minds think alike. Or idiocy comes in packs. Either way, you and I agree.

this is my favorite piece of speculation out there
franco12 @ 6/23/2015 9:19 AM
we're lucky Phil doesn't field these calls & Mills can protect us.

If I got this call, I would laugh my ass off.

NY is in a position where they need to accumulate talent. If you can turn the pick into 2 or 3 players then you must consider doing it. Bledsoe may not be the answer by himself but may a piece to the puzzle. Lord knows he can score and that helps take the burden off Melo right away.

I would prefer another pick this year rather than a player with that hefty contract. Not sure he is worth the money. 2 picks in the top 15 and 2-3 FA's is the way to go if Russell or Okafor are not there at #4.

If I can offload Jose Calderon, draft Kaminsky (or Hezonja if he falls) and bring back the Morris twins, I'd do it. That'd give us the flexibility to still add a semi-max free agent like Greg Monroe. Hopefully we could also finagle the cap to bring in Aaron Afflalo as well. If so, that team would be very competitive in the East albeit middle of the pack as far as title contention goes.

STARTERS
PG: Eric Bledose
SG: Aaron Afflalo
SF: Carmelo Anthony
PF: Markieff Morris
C: Greg Monroe

ROTATION
G: Alexey Shved
G: Langston Galloway
F: Marcus Morris
F: Lou Amundson
C: Frank Kaminsky

That's a bad team defensively, we would give up more than we would score

Probably but at least we'd have an identity as a team. With that personnel, I think we'd be a prodigious offensive team with the ability to push the ball consistently and space the floor ala the Suns.

In my opinion, that is a step in the right direction because we'd at least have something to work with moving forward. Aside from Melo, none of the guys on that team would be older than 30, which offers some hope for improvement from within.

knicks1248 @ 6/23/2015 4:14 PM
phil also said he didn't want to add a significant amount of salary if he was to trade the pick..bledsoe is over 10 mill per
StarksEwing1 @ 6/23/2015 4:15 PM
It seems like phil wont trade the pick unless its a kings ransom deal. Bledsoe and dropping to 13 isnt appealing to me

Mirroring a Suns team that didn't make the playoffs is a step in the right direction?
