Knicks · Miami got the steal of the draft (page 1)

As much as i hate the heat and riley they probably got a major steal in winslow. He was my second choice behind mudiay. Riley is a rat but the guy always makes good moves

This is a Knicks message board. **** the Heat!!! That said they could have a real good team next yr if everyone comes back. But again **** the Heat!! One more time for good measure, **** the Heat.
Swishfm3 @ 6/26/2015 7:49 AM
good for them......

good for you. I hate the heat but my post was more about the draft and winslow

They got good value at 10. Someone compared him to Caron Butler. Good player, not the franchise changer I'd look for at 4. I'd rather strike out going for the home run this year than settle for a single.

Sounds like Miami might lose Wade this year. Their fans could use someone to root for...if they're even paying attention.

Well said. I'm sort of surprised he "slid" so far, but it seemed he came on late in the year anyway. Good questions/concerns about his height and offense probably caused it.

One those guys that does a lot of things well.. Maybe Igudola like.

Oh.....I thought the thread was about the Heat taking Josh Richardson at #40. Got to be more specific in those thread titles.

Too bad if Wade does not remain. He would be a great role model for Winslow. Coach K has actually compared Winslow to Wade.

Not sure I understand why Detroit took Johnson over Winslow, but I wonder what teams thought of Winslow's offensive game? I saw a comparison between the two of them, and one thing that jumped out was Winslow's 2pt jump shooting- less than 25%. You combine that with his well documented inability to shoot off the dribble last year- 2/19, I think- and I expect that is the reason he dropped.

If he had a more versatile shot, he would have been a top 4 pick, at least. Think about Winslow's body and attitude with a Russell type J. He would have been my pick at #4, but I think Philly would have taken him at 3.

that was my take on him... Caron to a t

Good player, not an all star, not a franchise player. Just very good. In the right spot like Iggy can be high impact. In the wrong spot is just a #s guy.

i actually Think he has all star potential. I compare him more to jimmy butler

Shane Battier! That is the player I thought he could end up being like at the NBA level - not a great individual offensive game, strong defender - able to hit big, game winning shots when open.

I think you could see Detroit and Charlotte were zero'd in on guys and maybe not thinking about taking a player that dropped to them.

you also thought Porzingis was garbage and Phil was a disgrace, and an hour later you were saying your warming to the pick and recognize his upside...

What position does Winslow play? SG? He's got a great motor and plays hard. Brutally slow release on that jumper, not a great passer, cant create his own shot... pick 10 is about right. Guys in that range are all over the place. He could be great, good, or average. Right now he looks like Wilson Chandler, who if healthy is very good not but an all star

Winslow is more muscle and less IQ, but thats not a bad compare. I see a Caron Butler Wilson Chandler hybrid... but sure

sure he would have been. I like a lot about him. When he's a nice player in a couple years and Zinga is dropping 20/10 with 3 blocks a night and is an all star he would still be good for us. Phil went with the higher upside.

But at least Winslow would be in NY where he could really "build his brand"

(his words, NOT mine)

See how this works?

Winslow to me was the safe pick - and that's probably why he dropped. At 4, I want to get more than 'just a starter'

Porzingis is a swing for the fences, change the fortune of the franchise for 10+ years - and that is what you need out of 4.

I'm ok with Phil if Porzingis is out of the league in 3-4 years and Winslow is having a steady career. He tried, gambled and lost. But at least he rolled the dice.

Where it hurts most is the fact that we don't own our own pick next year - and that is not on Phil. If we had our own pick, I think people would be freaking out just a bit less.

exactly. The main reason i was a little mad is because we dont have a pick next year. Other than that i love our draft

hard to picture that bad an outcome unless PK gets hurt. At 19 he put up Karl Town's numbers against men, not 6'7 kids from small programs who will never go pro.

One thing you read in every scouting reports is KP's quickness and ability as a help defender. You know he can shoot. You know he can dunk and is pretty explosive.

Fish(mike, not derek) brought up the comparison to Tayshun Prince - thinking back, he never bulked up- and i certainly never thought he could have been nearly as effective as he was.

I think we might (hoping) be surprised by what Porzingis gives us.
