I don't see it. That would be the slowest team in the NBA. Almost no defense on unit 1 . 25 wins

Also bringing back so many of the players from last year would be a mistake. Ledo and thanks would be our only real sg and that would not be to swell

DJ - 20
West - 9
Melo - 22
Shved - 4
Thanasis - 0.5
Galloway - 0.9
Zinger - 3.4
Grant - 1.3

61.1

IDK about the rest
Def need a 2 guard unless Shved can play in it?

BRIGGS @ 6/27/2015 9:51 PM
Both the Lithuanian C and the kid from Ohio should be given high priority to make the team. The fastest way to get your team turned around is by defensive pressure. Both of these players have incredible length and any signs of high quality play in SL easily moves them on the big roster.

Is be shocked if we sign West.

The problem with my team is Melo. IF he gets injured again we have no 3, I am not sure Early can do it. The Zingatron may have to play 3 at 7-2"
I am good with getting the two other noobs. But I am not sure how effective they'll be over a 82 game season. You need some veteran balance.

Absolute worst defensive team in the league they really need to reconsider the allocation to west if it's even a consideration. Rim protection is weak perimeter defense is wretched we have very little speed in this line up and we'd be taking many of the main parts from a very bad team back Calderon and west are 35 poor athletes as is this makes little sense.

EwingsGlass @ 6/28/2015 8:10 AM
I don't disagree with you Briggs. If you follow the "done deals" consider that West can only take a 2 year deal without going into the over 36 rule and assume that we do want Monroe, this is what you are left with, barring a Calderon trade that brings back a solid 3&D SG. You are left with the hope that Calderon shows some value in the first half of the season and gets moved.

Only other hope is that the Knicka get some veterans who are willing to take the minimum.

That said, we should be hoping the rumors are incorrect. Those rumors had to presume we were getting perimeter D for free.

franco12 @ 6/28/2015 8:18 AM
I don't see Jason Smith coming back - he had a pretty good year and some team will sign him for more money/years than we will likely offer up.

I hope we're not giving Shved that kind of money long term.

He has a higher cap hold starting July & I'd expect we'd release him, and perhaps bring him back @ $2.8M

http://sportige.com/nba-rumors-new-york-...

With Shved carrying a cap hold of $6.23 million into July, it’s unlikely the Knicks won’t renounce him in order to clear that kind of money from their salary cap. However, bringing him back through the mid-level exception worth $2.814 million for the 2015-16 NBA season makes more sense.

You aren't going to address every need with 27 mil. Its a much better team still with plenty of holes. I think we may try to squeeze another wing in there somewhere that can play the 2 and 3 but this team is solid if there's confidence Grant is ready to provide defense and dribble penetration as a starting 2. If not, we will have to find a low budget wing in place of bringing back shved and/or Jason smith.

There is no way in Hell you get Monroe and Ellis for a total of $19m. I'm sorry not to be rude but that is a fantasy.

I think the Knicks need to focus on getting one more potential all-star rotation player and then fill out the roster with younger guys who can defend.

We need to compensate for Melo and Porzingis being defensive limitations. This is one reason I was in favor of drafting Winslow or Stein, but whatever. We can still build a good team.

Berman's suggestion of Danny Green, David West and Robin Lopez would be solid. And we would have room to a big time player the following season.

This is from Berman so there maybe nothing to it.
Jackson has desires to re-sign Jason Smith as a backup center and try to lure back combo guard Alexey Shved, who had an excellent brief stint late in the season.

from what ive seen posted on this site, u were not all that rude
west lopez and green does actually sound good but how much minutes can west play a night? 15? 20 the most? I understand the need for defense, tell me would u go 18 for D Jordan on 8 for green/Matthews only and try to find a cheap cheap power forward? or 18 for Jordan 8 for Carroll and move melo to the four and start with grant and Calderon?

I think DeAndre Jordan would be a fantastic signing. I think he'd be $18 or $20m first year salary but I would absolutely sign him in a heartbeat. Don't think it is possible, but Phil should ask.
BRIGGS @ 6/28/2015 11:32 AM
If they are dead set on Monroe they should look at the dleague players/cheaper fas or even starting zinger at 4. Also we give up so much with Calderon at pg. It's OK to rely on him as a spot 3point guy off the bench but starting pg??? Idont mind Monroe because if it doesn't work out he can be traded for a good return. West to memonly represents a band aid that makes no sense. I'd really like to look around there. I was hoping the Knicks pi ked up Atkins for their sl eague he might be a rookie but he's physically a man and plays mean d. He also has some offensive game that was not known at Virginia. If you're going to bui!d a team you need to get them the same age or close.

I'm sure we want both Smith and Shved back - No idea if we can get either back. The one thing about Shved is he sure is skinny and wow did he get hurt with just an awkward basketball play - not sure any other team would roll the dice on him.

Fuck Jason Smith and his 15 foot jumper. 0 defense, 0 rebounding, 0 post game, clumsy passer. I will be very annoyed if he is brought back.
