Forgot about Derrick. We gotta get this guy if we strike out on Monroe

Im talking value per cost. His value against cost could be significant from what we have seen. Hes a double digit scorer with minutes who was just coming on. Hes got some obvious athletic talent and he can shoot it. Like I siad before this is a DEmmare Carrol type signing before he changed his game
Then sign Affalo and another Veteran big or maybe Brandon Bass. Is Brandon Wright still available?

He will flourish in this system. Knicks must act swiftly to sign him if they strike out today
Can we still get:
1. Derrick Williams
2. Thomas Robinson
3. Brandon Bass
Or did those guys sign?

Robinson signed with the Nets. Bass, I like, especially with Rolo in the fold. And I've always been a huge fan of Williams.
I just think he needs am opportunity to play through his mistakes and he'd blossom into the player we all expected. He'll probably never be a good long distance shooter but he has solid midrange moves, rebounds pretty well from his position and is a very underrated passer.
Me too I love Williams. Netting him will salvage this offseason some what.
Start Williams if he blossoms in this system and becomes an 16 & 8 guy in this system then great. If he doesn't he is only keeping KP's seat warm until he is ready. I hope that is fills plan since he settled on Lopez
Awesome!
Much rather have Williams then Lee who is getting old and hobbled
derrick williams sucks. but id be happy with c. brewer

I wouldn't mind Lee but I am glad they are pursuing Williams. He is young and talented. I don't think he is troubled.
I like D. Williams too. He's got a lot of upside left IMO. Has flashed here and there but could likely show more consistency with a clearer role. He's really a talented guy.
Like that Phil is using the money to get a bunch of guys.....we need a lot of help and this depth can at least give us a shot at being semi-competitive.
We just need quality players right now because no one is going to hand us a star at this point in time.

Brandon Bass has killed the Knicks for years. First with the Bulls and then with the Celts. He's tough defensively, has a good mid-range game and hits the boards hard. A D West type player, only younger. We would also benefit from him not returning to bean town again. Some attempt to secure him would be in keeping with the types of players we're looking for.

He also plays Melo and LBJ really well. Bass would be a good get. It sounds like the Knicks are looking at Williams first.
Brewer brings a certain attitude with him that I have never seen from Williams.
Maybe some of you know Williams better than I do, but Brewer is still only 29 and he can play at the 2 & 3, and is an excellent defender who puts everything he has out on the floor. Won't have to worry about him jacking up 3s in our offense, and he's a decent slasher.
Not a long term solution, but a two year contract would be OK for me.

Yeah, Derrick Williams has shown nothing. He makes decent highlight dunks, but he can't rebound, defend or shoot. He's a waste of time at this point.

Maybe if it is for the vet minimum like Thomas Robinson in nj
Missing the point if you think we're saying Derrick Williams is a savior. NO ONE said anything like that. This is a case where you can take a guy that has talent but may not have been able to put it all together yet. You put him in your system and see if you can get him right with a clear role. You coach him up and work on his flaws and things that may have held him back from contributing. The same way they took a flyer on Shved and he looked a lot better in the role we gave him. Some players have the talent but perhaps not the clear vision of how they can succeed at this level. You give them a better understanding of their role and suddenly things can click for them.
