Well it sounds like Phil wants P.Beverley pretty bad so what do you guys think he's worth?? Remember he's a RFA so Houston can match so we need to make it enough for them not to match but not too much that it's a bad signing by us.

If he does we shouldve drafted Justin Andersen.

Not sure. I like Grant, and Gallo. I like Beverly but I think the Knicks have too many needs to chase him.

Yeah, I'd rather focus on Kosta than spend that much on Lopez.

I'd rather suck, watch Toronto pick 1st than give that kind of contract out to Brooke's brother.

actually Aldrich is a better shotblocker and rebounder than both of them per minute. His offense is right behind them overall his per minute production is the best. Now can he play 28 minutes every night? You could probably sign Aldrich for 3mm and that paves way to maybe signing Tobias Harris to a contract that Orlando would not match

If the Knicks could get Tobias that would probably be the smart move. Orlando's gm has said he will match but they are a frugal team and seem like they want to replace Tobias. If the contract was structured right I don't think they would match because I think they know Tobias wants to leave.

Yeah but offering Milsap 4 years and 80 million isn't what i'd call being frugal. I think they realized that they need some veteran help with all the young players they have but with them missing out on Milsap i think they'd match any Harris offer sheet but i guess there's no way to know unless it happens.

Kosta is good but also he's been killed by being behind Gasol. It's making him look like he can't be a starter. The Knicks could still go after him if they wanted, so maybe they will.

Yeah i'm with you about thinking we have the players to play the 1 and 2 but i keep seeing rumors of Phil wanting Beverley. I do love his defense and he can hit the 3 ball so i'm wondering if Phil is thinking about using the stretch provision on Calderon and Beverley can be a combo guard.

The cap is going up so we have to get used to the new normal. Having said that its not too pricey. Porzingis is going to get most of the touches in the frontcourt, eventually. Lopez would be a good complimentary player who will help with our lack of defense in the paint.

cap rising or not i still feel it is too much and i like lopez. Also i wouldnt expect porzingis to do much his rookie year. Probaly will play sparingly the first year
Solace @ 7/2/2015 10:08 PM
I think Robin Lopez is a very good fit with the Knicks. I'm not in love with 12-13 MM per. If it were 10 MM per, it would be a lot more palatable. But maybe it's only a few years. Add a few low salary pieces and we might have a team next year.
TPercy @ 7/2/2015 10:19 PM
If Lopez can take a 7-9mm 2-3 year deal..fine.

Totally agree. Although I think Smith played himself into a few offers. Amundson/Cole are pretty cheap alternatives. Hate the Typical fascination with free agents. Cant take just the positive allure of other teams players and ignore the reason they were let go. This smells like an expensive Dalembert mistake.

yeah i agree. I dont think he has done enough to earn 13 million. Hell afflalo has a better track record and he is getting 8 per year

I don't know if that's the plan for KP. I think they want him to play a lot and get as much experience as possible. No different than any other Top 10 Rookie.

The contract for Lopez is pretty much what you would expect given the money others have gotten and he's a Center which is usually gonna carry a premium. It's only about 2 mil more than you'd expect he would get. Many other players got way more than you would think they should get in this FA Market.

Yup him taking a 3 year 27m contract would be great. It would leave is with 10m
We sign Lou to vet min as well as some other D League promising big.
Get Shved for two miilion and Cole for 5 million.
Hopefully have around 5 million left over to get a decent PF like Bejinca.

I don't know. I think if he landed Monroe Calderon's shooting would have been quite a weapon.
