ill give more details tomorrow when i see the team live. im just so tired from the 8he plane ride. lol. i got off the plane and headed straight for the game.
whats cool about the summer league is u can interact with coaches. i had a chance to meet coach tyrone lue. i asked him about the triangle...he said that EVERYONE runs certain principals of it. it was ahead of its time and still relevant. but he was saying how hes a teacher AND a coach. teaching them them HOW to hydrate is just as important as X&Os
Mudaiy still can't shoot. He is a really good passer and rebounder, but he really can't shoot.
BRIGGS wrote:Christian Wood has played a much more disciplined game than Towns. I guess the science to this is subjective but no way should Wood have been passed on 60 times.
Wood was playing well--did he get hurt? I was flipping back he never came back in? He was playing very well. He had 3 blocked shots in the 1st Q,

He might be a better shooter off the dribble and under pressure than when he is given time to think about his shot.
I know that if I was guarding him I'd give him some room to shoot his J at this point in his VERY young career. No way you play him tight at this time.
Same goes for Winslow, IMO.

Good points. If you really press him then he has a higher chance of making his shot than when you leave him alone to shoot. It should be the other way around! Before pre season I suggest he just focuses on retooling his form and making his more consistent.
Knicks should keep an eye on Alan Williams. did not play well in Orlando but also didnt get the reps--he did last night and was very good. We might need a 3rd combo PF/C who can rebound. Hes also enforcer size. 6-9 260

Look at the improvements in Marcus Smart so far in the Summer League, another player that had a NBA ready body prior to the draft with strength/size
but
Muddiay has much more athleticism/speed/quickness and upside, IMO, though Smart improved his 3pt shot much so far and had lock down defensive potential to defend PG/SG though with less speed/quickness/athleticism than Muddiay
Towns looks slow and slow and slow. I'd rather have Porzingis.

I think Mudiay's shot will improve, but I'm someone who believes that his athleticism is overrated.
He's tall and has some length for a PG, so he gives you the impression of being a better leaper around the basket than he actually is. I have not seen the explosiveness of a great athlete in his pre-injury China clips, and in the first Denver game. He's quick and deceptive, and sees the court well, but he's no monster athlete, IMO.

towns will be ok but right now he's not showing a dominant first pick position he was severely outplayed by Portis who I'm sure Chicago has to be thrilled with right now As of game 1-2 Russell mad towns have shown some real flaws guys like Mickey Powell young 2 nod rderds have looked both athletically better with excellent potentially higher skills. I'm sure both will be fine I'm glad we got kp no matter what anyone says he was probably the safest pick at 4. On the other hand it will be a wait and see with grant he's never been a great game shooter and he's no where near as quick or athletic as some guards in the nba. There was a chance to absolutely dominate this draft and I'm not sure we executed the secondary picks as well as he could.
I think OK4 was looking to send a message to Kupchak in the LA/Philly game.
He was far from perfect, but looked like the better pick than Russell, today.
At one point he even guarded him on the top of the key and Russell could not score on the drive.
Russell had 7 turnovers, and shot 4/15 from the field, 0/3 from the 3, and was only 6/9 from the FT line.
OK4 actually seemed to be in better shape than he was in his first few games.
Nice message sent by a guy who grew up a Laker's fan.
You have to wonder about OK4, though- he might have been picked at #2 if he had come into the workouts in better shape and with a fine-tuned game.

OK4 was hurt most of the year in college..He missed some easy looks on some awesome moves..He is playing like the number one overall pick..
Russell isn't quick enough to get separation to get his shot off..He isn't comfortable going right..He needs to work on his handle as well..He seems shocked at the pace and surprised that guys are still in front of him when he makes his move..
Guys got bumped higher off those workout videos u love so much..

Yeah, and he initiates the offense too far away. He was able to find holes in the D doing that in college, but the NBA is a different game. I like that he's aggressive pushing the ball and the dude has some eyes on him.He needs to develop a reliable floater ASAP.
I don't watch a lot of Utah basketball, but I watch enough to tell you one thing: Bryce Cotton should probably start over Trey Burke.

Yeah, I think he just wants to get his looks and he looks like he wants to prove something..He looks like he is working on his free throw..I love his quickness around the basket..But he was pressing and was often off balanced on his shots..But minor stuff he can improve upon..

Yeah, you can't push the panic button. Remember how crappy Derrick Rose looked in his first year of summer league? Same goes for Mudiay.

I know you're being provocative...
those videos mean zilch to teams. Of course
OK4 will be an adequate defender, at best. His "Catch-22" quandary is that the 15-20lbs he should lose to become a good defender allows him to hip check defenders in the paint
He had a lot of time to heal and work on his game. Coming into a workout and knocking down 20 FTs in a row might have been helpful, as would the kind of workout that would have kept Kupchak from saying this after his workout: "I think if there is a part of his game that lags would be his defensive presence on the court," Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak said.
Towns has a better all-around game, no other way around it- and that is why he got picked #1.

To damn small for a C.
I m going to make sure to watch him again. I like the possibility of this team having a 6-9 260 guy who can play yet also protect and enforce. Kp is great because he can play 5-4 I want to keep am open mind finishing off the roster

Well based on previous conversations we have had its not really provocative..I'm just illustrating a point I made from those conversations..
You can't change your jump shot over a month..It takes years of hard work..OK4 played a very good all around game yesterday..Defensively and offensively..He has court presence..He is the only one of the top picks that looks like a franchise player. But what's funny about that is the same conclusion was drawn after seeing him play last year when healthy. The workout videos changed draft perceptions..
