Knicks · NDour signs with Dallas :( (page 4)

It sounds like training camp invites with partial guarantees but the Mavs guaranteed more money. Not sure though. It also sounds like he had a better shot of making the 15 man roster in Dallas.I can't find much either. This has a little insight:
http://probasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2...
I get the same feeling -- we're talking a TC invite offer with more guaranteed money. Doesn't even sound like it was a automatic roster spot type of deal...Also sounds to me like we lowballed yet another player, the first being Shved. So frustrating. I mean WTF are they doing????!!!!??? Offer A TOP TC offer!! Why nickel and dime the guy??? How do you let Cuban come in a steal this player away with a better TC offer? WTF is that shit?? It's laughable.
Shved got more money than the Knicks could possibly have offered him. And it seemed like he wanted to go back to Europe, Russia specifically.
How can you say that? You don't see what happened here dude? Come on--read between the lines -- If we would've said to this guy, "Alexey, JOB WELL DONE, brah! We want you back. No question about it--as soon as we sign the bulk of our outside FAs, we'll be at the cap and can use the room exception of 2.8mm--we want to use it on you"! If we had approached him like that, he'd still be here. I'd bet any amount of money on it. I bet we never approached him like that--I don't think we professed any excitement over bringing him back at all and lowballed him with a vet minimum offer and never budged off it. I get the feeling that's how Phil conducts business -- meanwhile, a guy like Cuban comes across as much more enthusiastic and adamant about getting what he wants. And guess what--that's how ya gotta be!!! I mean look at the Greg Monroe shit, how we didn't offer him a max contract (which I firmly believe btw). That dude was only linked to us for months. Midnight rolls around on the 1st day of FA and we don't offer him a max offer? WTF was that about?? This dude could've been a 20/10 rock inside for us for years to come.. I don't think we made the necessary, proper offer...Now reports are surfacing that we were looking to force the C spot on LaMarcus Aldridge and that we cancelled the meeting? Can you believe that shit?? Worked out Elliot Williams, a guard with versatility and plenty of talent to get back in the NBA, we have a dire need for backcourt depth and haven't made an offer as of yet (I think we would've heard if we did, even if one was rejected). My bet is we failed to make the man an offer or lowballed yet another guy...I firmly believe we had a chance to sign JaMychal Green last year and fucked that up too. Now Ndour -- I mean we lost this guy over a better fucking TC offer? WOW...Anyone else see a pattern here??
How do you know that they didn't say exactly that to Shved?
Because it was reported that we only offered him a vet minimum deal, just like it was reported by multiple sources that we didn't offer Greg Monroe a max deal and now, didn't offer Maurice Ndour a full TC deal. Come on man--you read the same stuff I do, right? Where do you think I got it from?? None of this upsets you, even a little??? I guess you and some of these other guys around here are better guys than me 'cause I'M PISSED!! ABSOLUTELY LIVID!!!!! Shocked more aren't really...I don't like this pattern of ineptitude I've seen so far outta Phil--the thriftiness, the lack of aggressiveness going after the best, going after what he wants etc. He's really come off looking like a novice NBA exec here lately. Fisher too -- not only does this guy win two games down the stretch which reduced our chances greatly for a top 3 pick, he comes out and says during SL that "we may not have a spot for Ndour in TC." I should've know right then and there that Ndour was gone. I mean I thought he was joking...What are these guys doing??? They come off like their shit just isn't tight, man. And how much do they get paid, Phil and Fisher?? I expected better, more...
Well said, this is ineptitude. It isn't even that we didn't sign him. It is the lunacy of the offer.
It is the overpaying for 2 guys who could have been had for less. It is letting a guy go in Shved who played well for us and fit. And in the grand scope of things, over peanuts. Again, it is like letting Lin go to save money, but then wasting more and getting less with the old men signings.
Now, the two guys we do sign, in a sense, have this weight on their shoulders. Who is left? We better get a Euro or two, who can really help.
Zenman, we are waiting on a miracle. I will give props on the draft, big ones...
Finestrg wrote:CrushAlot wrote:That sucks. The guy wanted to be a knick. Looked like a really good player. I don't mind Shved. This one hurts.Absolutely. So pissed off over this I can spit. F anyone who thinks I'm overreacting. We've done a terrible job putting the finishing touches on this roster it makes me sick..
Yup...this was painful. You always want to keep your "discovery" type players.
Now you wish he had just played on another SL team.
I think I felt something similar when we lost Copeland, although I don't think he ever became the player I thought he could be.
Funny, but if you look at some of the recent "wow they're not bad" pickups we've had in our hands at one point- Fields, Lin, Copeland, Mosgov...only Mosgov has done anything significant, yet I was unhappy with losing them all. (at the time we lost them)
CrushAlot wrote:That sucks. The guy wanted to be a knick. Looked like a really good player. I don't mind Shved. This one hurts.
but we need a back up sg/pg and a center, you want to just sign a guy who wont see much playing time, that played well against young inexperience players.
Ndour is the kind of guy you sign when you have 10 solid rotation guys already

Over react much???? I mean come on now. LOL
Kid Ndour plays well for Knicks summer team,
but like we say you get what? you PAID for
$$
In this case Knicks wanna go cheapest $
Only in NY can masses of Knicks fans want one thing (NDour) or a certain draft pick or Free Agent
and Knickerbocker brass will never ever satisfy the fans here, its Like they ain't listening to
NBA NY media writers, much less seeing for themselves the kid could have a real opportunity here
But Of course Knicks Brass Management DONT want
what you & I want
ITs always been like that
ain't changing now...
If Kevin Durant be available and listed next yr
NYK one of 1/2 dozen teams he'd be interested in,
BETCHA' Knicks would find a way not to pursue KD the way the ought to!
In Knickland it ALWAYs gotta be on their terms..
That's why NO one wants to come here and ball![]()

Read somewhere before that the Knicks may have passed on Ndour because they "have their sights set on more a veteran big man." Oh yeah? WHO Phil? Who does he have in mind? Elton Brand? Reggie Evans?? Can't wait to see who he plans on filling these last spots with.

Well, HE IS YOUNG TALENT that has a GOOD PHYSICAL PHYSICAL SKILLS FOR SOMEONE HIS SIZE
We found a gem, is he an ALL STAR now?
NO absolutely NOT, however, how did Draymond Green do his first 2 seasons in the League?
He was at the end of the bench that barely played and that is exactly our point, he is a player that is surely worth developing to find out, playing 4 years of college
N Dour put up impressive stats every season at SF/PF with a good mid range shot already and 3pt range in college being
He was a 20 and 10 in college with multiple steals and blocks in many games his last 2 seasons
After watching the Summer League you could why and that he is legit, with the ability to take it to the next level
Though he listed at 200pds, he surely could add some weight and get stronger, who knows if he can be developed in to STARTING material, but he is worth a roster spot to find out

N Dour didn't seem like he was 200 pds to me though, he did not get pushed around and he was extremely active
With a high motor on both ends, running down the floor, finishing through contact defending, challenging shots, and rebounded well, with versatility on both ends of the floor...
What more can you ask for?
His skills, style of play, high motor, soft touch, good cuts, and his physical abilities with size/athleticism/length/mobility ALL TRANSLATE in TODAYS game in multiple positions that he could play from SF through Center in small ball like Draymond Green at the 5, when he gains weight/strength
Yep, we knew from the way he played that he was going to be in demand BECAUSE HE GOT SKILLS THAT TRANSLATE and he is YOUNG and CHEAP
Crush, IN OTHER WORDS, HE IS A GOOD LOCKER ROOM PRESENCE, HIGH CHARACTER, and HE COULD PLAY, unlike Lou Amundson and Lance Thomas
That is why THAT IS SUCH BS, that we wasted 2 roster spots on those 2 scrubs, while there are plenty of players that can bring that attitude
They are both 15th man on our roster that cost 3m, it was a horrible decision to sign them to make Fisher's life easier
Fisher was simply NOT ready for this job
He had 0 thoughts of COACHING till he saw Jason Kidd and Steve Kerr get 5m per season, while he was still playing for OKC at the time...
That would be such BS, Crush, we signed a bunch of "high character" talents that lack skill already, we need players that will be part of our roster moving forward
I have a feeling this is about Fisher inability to coach, so he gets a bunch of VETS and YES SIR's, players....
If that is true, that is why we will trouble attracting talent to come in the next couple of years, especially TOP TIER talents that we will need if we are going to be contenders...
While Lou Amundson and Lance Thomas gets offered MORE than him
Who knows if Shved might have taken a contract at about 3m or 2.8m ROOM exemption, however, when we had the Room Exemption left, he did say that if THE KNCKS DID NOT OFFER him more money that he will go back to Europe, so it is possible that he would have taken it which was never offered
2- Then AB signs a 2year vet min deal with BKLYN, who is still better than both Amundson and Lance Thomas
3- Then N Dour, with Fisher saying that we might not have room for him, though we signed LT and LA right before SUMMER LEAGUE started, knowing players were auditioning for us...
4- ANY ONE OF Shved, AB, and N Dour >>>> Than both Lou Amundson and Lance Thomas (that is the point, while both are 15th men at best that do not even deserve a roster spot and a vet min contract at best)
When we lose games because we lack talent will WORK ETHIC/HIGH CHARACTER help us attract FA's?
Isn't the whole point to put together a roster that could possibly attract FA's in the near future?
5- There are high character, high work ethic talents all over the league, it isn't just LA and LT, they only have 1/2 year experience in the Triangle, they do not have multiple years of experience like Ron Harper or Horace Grant in the Triangle...
They are not going to make KP or Grant any better
They will not help us attract better FA in the future
They will have 0 to negative trade value
6- WHO ARE WE SAVING THE ROOM EXEMPTION FOR?
7- WHO ARE WE SIGNING WITH THE LAST ROSTER SPOTS? As the FA market continues to dry up
I wanted to sign Jeff Taylor for a 2year vet min, he was a UFA that could play SG/SF, but could play a PG/SG with Galloway/Calderon who lack the ability to penetrate/create consistently, like Lance Stephenson/PJ Hairson
Then there is Justin Hamilton to play the Center on a 2year vet min deal, who is signing with The Suns
But DO NO FEAR, WE HAVE Lou Amundson, Lance Thomas, and THE MIGHTY TRIANGLE

WTF are you attacking Fish for? You and others have been making this trope about Fish not being a good coach when really he's no different from other young coaches who had a shaky start with a team that had injuries early on and a roster that wasn't exactly a title contender to begin with, but his big difference is that Phil decided to trash the roster and basically start over in addition.
Jason Kidd was shaky at 1st too. There were people saying Kidd should be fired. No one expected Fish to be perfect right out of the gate and injuries and some stubborn guys didn't help. After the trade you could actually see a bit more clearly what Fish's actual coaching acumen was. People got pissed cuz Fish won games. If it was true that he sucked as bad as people say, he shouldn't have won any games after they trashed the roster. We had almost nothing on the roster after the trade and Melo shut it down. How did Fish manage to get the players to play well enough to even win 12 games?
Any coach is going to ask his GM for the players he likes. That's just normal, but it's up to the GM to make the final decision and if he believes he can get better players then he should. The Knicks as a group wanted to bring back Thomas and Amundson. Neither guy is a major rotation guy. Neither will the next couple of players we add to the roster be likely to be rotation guys. People are getting bent out of shape over end of the bench guys.

Good comparison with Dray Green, Ron. Dude was actually a productive college player, much like Ndour, with similar skills. DG was a 2nd round pick that didn't look like much in the NBA at first but GS stuck with him and developed him into a real nice NBA rotation player. Point is, they drafted him, kept him around and developed him. Slightly different scenario as Ndour was an undrafted SL invite but the same theory applies here--wish we could've kept our guy and developed him just like GS developed Green. I think Ndour will wind up having a positive impact in the NBA a lot sooner than some realize, provided there's a commitment by either Dallas or someone else to bring him along..
And yeah, definitely Crush. In addition to showing discernible 2-way skills along with all-out hustle, he was a real likeable, positive guy. It's a shame to lose him the way we did. Indefensible..
