This is bad news... when anything he said was right?

Every time he's predicted the Knicks will suck.

It shouldn't be that shocking. This team has some talent now. It's a much better roster than the one we had last year and the players make sense together and for this system. People are just so stuck in time and keep thinking of this team as the 17 win mess from last year when it's not. As Barkley said there are some legit NBA players on this roster.

Last year this team really needed for JR, Shump and THJ to show up and produce, but they weren't able to do that. Add in the injuries to the other guys we were counting on like Jose, Bargs and Melo and now you really are talking about some serious problems. Dalembert, Jason Smith and Cole aren't the same as RoLo, KP6, O'Quinn, Seraphin and Amundson. This group is tougher and more talented overall. This roster is a little better but about the same in terms of overall talent, however the character of the players is VASTLY superior IMO. These guys have higher BB IQ and Skills and are more team oriented and hard working. Outside of health issues this team should be able to compete for a playoff spot.

Everything he's said about the knicks has been correct, over the last few years. He basically said we suck.....and we did.

I hope he is right about the Knicks.

if he speaks the truth he is worthy of praise. what you mean to say is that you don't appreciate the manner in which he delivers that truth.

tell me how this is an erroneous proposition?

knicks1248 @ 8/15/2015 12:22 PM
I guess will have to wait and see, because he has been right for the most part when speaking of the knicks, excepts for the 54 win season, where the knicks actually over achieved, and shocked everyone.
EnySpree @ 8/15/2015 12:34 PM
As always.... Fuck Charles Barkley
TPercy @ 8/15/2015 3:05 PM
Oh yeah...well I say we won't. Big whoop.

Good then you'll be pleasantly surprised when the Knicks make the playoffs!

Weird how Barkley's opinion is held in such high regard

I've never liked Barkley. He's mostly wrong but just cuz the Knicks have been dysfunctional doesn't make him some kind of expert. I'll give him some credit for at least acknowledging that the roster has been improved with some decent quality players. We know they didn't get the big name guy but most of the players added have legit talent and can produce dependably.

It's not just about this one season but the next few season and how our young players develop. They have quite a bit of upside and as they get better that should put this team in position to win more games. Phil is banking on the development of the young talent he's collected and will continue to add. The vets will provide some stability as the young guys develop.

This thread is akin to the other thread from a week or so ago where Clyde went from being a broadcast clownsuit to suddenly being the supergenius who could turn the franchise around single-handedly just because he managed to criticize Melo.

Next up; Shaqtin a Fool with Phil Jax

It isn't. He has just Knick bashed for many years because of his friendship with Patrick. The fact that he is saying anything positive is news worthy because he has been so negative.

It really is. He made a career of being basically just a scorer who never bothered to play defense. He openly hates the Knicks but like clockwork if he gives an ounce of compliment cats eat it. Doesnt matter the feeder has been kicking the snot out of their team for decades.

mreinman @ 8/16/2015 4:10 PM
barkley is just a funny tool. No reason to take anything he says seriously.
TheGame @ 8/17/2015 7:07 AM
Of course the Knicks will make the playoffs. Freaking Boston made the playoffs last year. As long as Melo can play 70 games, and Calderon can manage 60 games, this team has enough veterans to run through the weak Eastern conference. KP is going to be an instant difference maker on defense. He and Lopez are going to make our frontcourt imposing defensively. Barkley is just stating the obvious.
ChuckBuck @ 8/17/2015 8:34 AM
It wouldn't be a miracle if the Knicks made the playoffs, half the teams in the league makes the playoffs!

It's a coin flip 50/50 guess really, so Barkley is making a "smart" prediction actually.

dk7th @ 8/17/2015 8:35 AM
barkley comes across primarily as an entertainer but he has a keen basketball mind and should not be dismissed just because he mocks the laughingstock knicks. shaq and smith are also fine basketball monds, and don't forget chris webber who i also think is great, including his color commentating. it'd be hard to fathom the shows popularity and ratings and emmy awards without there being some underpinning of substance. his book "i may be wrong but i doubt it" is a great read, too.

just sayin'
