A little more detail into KP's training regimen, sounds like its going great.

I'm pulling for this kid. He's been working hard and dedicating himself to getting better. I hope he has a great rookie season. It's been a while since we've had some good fortune with a top draft pick. It would be so sweet to have a young stud to root for in addition to the other young players we have as well. Phil has collected a lot of good young talent. It would be great to see this team keep and develop their young talent unlike last time we had some young players and sent them away. It seems like this time there's more of a commitment to youth this time. Especially with the D League team starting last year. KP and the other young Knicks are the future and the present. Can't wait for Monday.

So far his work ethic is top notch. Thats terrific because ive seen many euro players have bad work ethic. I think KP will have a better rookie year than anticipated. Phil has done his best work in the draft IMO. Early was a steal in the 2nd even after having a shaky rookie year. Grant was a heist for us. KP might have the highest ceiling

I like Willy too. Phil and Gaines did well with UDFA Gallo and hopefully they can find another gem that way. KP and Jerian are the big score this draft and hopefully they have a strong Rookie season.

To me its not the work ethic that i like the most. Its how hes managing his perception, through social media. He could have a gut right now for all we know.....but hes learning how to use the media to his advantage. Makes that transition to win over fans even smoother. Whenever he says anything ny fans and the media creates a million threads and topics. Thats why its better to feed the media with positive news than to stay isolated and allow the media to control ur perception.

I'm optimistic but guarded at the same time. Still don't know what he is exactly and we won't really know until we start seeing him in some steady game action against other big men. The main obvious concern: we know he can score and I'm sure he'll only continue to hone his craft there but will he be able to rebound enough and play enough D to warrant staying on the floor? But yeah man, very excited--not only to see KP but to kick off the whole thing. KP's had a nice offseason so far -- he's put on muscle and by all accounts is playing well with the extra weight; he's been very upbeat and positive including talking about how he can't wait to fight for his minutes and I love how he responded to the draft night boos and Phil's left field Shawn Bradley comments. When's the first pre-season game? Anyone have a link to the schedule?

I love the "fighting for minutes" comment by Porzingis. No sense of entitlement there.

nixluva @ 9/25/2015 10:30 AM
With KP the only thing I see he really was weak on is his rebounding technique. He seems like he never has focused on it at all. He doesn't do enough of the things a good rebound is supposed to do. He will need all kinds of work on that part of his game from what i've seen. Sometimes he boxes out but other times he's just a spectator. Hopefully being around guys who know how to do it will help him to learn.
earthmansurfer @ 9/25/2015 10:55 AM
Last week, Porzingis said he’s put on 11 pounds. He hopes to add four more before the start of training camp Tuesday.

If he can do this for 4 of the next 8 weeks, I think we found our 300 pound center.

Agreed. I thought his rebounding looked a little subpar during SL myself. You know what may really help this dude A LOT, not now because we're ready to start the season soon but maybe next summer -- going to see Hakeem Olajuwon for a couple of weeks of 1 on 1 instruction. The Dream could really help this guy develop his game further. That should be a major priority next summer. And the Knicks should pay for it.

ESOMKnicks @ 9/25/2015 11:34 AM
The true test of his toughness will be in how he reacts to the first several times he is posterized by being served full facial dunks under the basket, accompanied by heckling from some arrested development youtube watchers or dimwit NY press authors.

Watching in summer league, it looked like he was off balanced and slow to react after the ball hit the rim. It could be that he felt weak and was also winded. He might have used too much energy just to box someone out that by the time the ball came off the rim he didn't have the spring in his legs to move towards the ball. These are things that can hopefully be taught and it seems like he will do what it takes to improve his game. If the coached tell him he needs to improve his rebounding in order to get more playing time then I'm sure that KP will work very hard on it.

Not sure if he is still employed by Rockets......

KP won't likely fix all of his issues this season. He needs to mainly focus on the things he does well and look to add to those skills as he moves along. Keep it simple at first. His presence is really making me excited for this season along with watching Jerian. It's mostly about the future with this group. Sure we want to win now as well, but their growth is the thing that really matters IMO.
WaltLongmire @ 9/25/2015 1:23 PM
I'm worried about KP's cholesterol level.

If he does reach 250lbs by camp that will mean he added 25-30lbs since the beginning of the year. Pretty amazing given all the talk pre and post draft about how he might not be able to add weight that quickly.

Nalod @ 9/25/2015 3:53 PM
Hey, if sweetney can do it, KP can too!!

It reminds me of how they get Actors on programs to gain weight really fast, tho with them i'm sure they're using PED's, but still KP is at that age where you can make huge gains in muscle in a short time if you get on the right program and dedicate your self to it. He clearly has the self discipline to stick to a program and work hard. Safe to say he's not hanging out at the spots JR did when in NY.

Allen Iverson had to learn this the hard way. The beast needs to be fed every day. It's better to feed it than to have it digging through your trash and creating a mess.

Just saw this in the Post.
“With Kristaps we’re not trying to reinvent who he is and how he’s constructed,” Fisher said. “He wants to work, he wants to get better, he wants to be here in New York City and part of what we’re doing.
“We don’t have to ask him to do anything. He’s essentially the first one here every morning at 7:30 am. He’s beaten me here a couple of times in the last couple of weeks.

KP looks like he is the real deal. I always look for that special "IT FACTOR" like KG has or Dirk! They WANT TO BE GREAT. It all starts there. The core of a players motivation! I know that passion and I really appreciate it in others. I'm really pulling for this kid to be successful.

Porzingis made it clear immediately after the draft that he couldnt believe we have work out facilities open 24 hours a day. That comment pretty much sold me that at the least he would work hard at getting where he needs to be to play competitively. I may not care for this roster, but I like him.
