Knicks · Porzingis Needs A Nickname (page 1)

FireWoodson @ 11/15/2015 9:52 PM
Watching the game with some good Knick fans this afternoon and we all realized that Kristaps Porzingis (what a clunky name) needs a nickname. I hear the radio guys calling him KP. That's lazy and very ordinary. We kicked around some ideas but they all came down to his being white. The White Assassin. The White Death. The Tall Goofy Looking White Guy.

I finally hit on a pretty good one based on his number. Porzingis' nickname should be:

The Six Shooter

What have you got? Anything better? Anything at all?

ama-Zingis?

When he gets his shot going more regularly, K Swish is an option.

He's too inconsistent, as much as I/we love him.

too inconsistent for what?

Allanfan20 @ 11/15/2015 10:57 PM
For me to nickname him. Let him earn it.

How about Cunnil-zingus? They sell T-Shirts that say God-Zingis, like Godzilla because you know he is tall and reigns down fire on your ass

How about this:

The Latvian Mamba

Ira @ 11/16/2015 9:42 AM

some players don't need nick names.

Basically the great ones don't always. Bill Russell?
Wilt was "the big dipper" but eventually just needed to say "Wilt".
Jordan "Air" but that was marking. Just "Jordan", "Black Mamba"? Its good but "Kobe" suffices.
Shaq is a word unto itself.
What is Lebrons nickname? "Larry Legend" is cute but really its nobody types it.
Lou Alcinder or Kareem Abdul Jabbar? If he had a nick name it did not stick.

Frazier became "Clyde" but that was due to his love for hats and the movie "Bonnie and Clyde" had just come out.

Earl Monroe "the Pearl" or "Black Jesus" had created quite a buzz before being Rookie of the year in the NBA in college.

Dirk is just Dirk.

(On a side note, the nickname jerseys have to be one of the worst marketing ploys the league has used in a while...)

Forgot about "King James". Its just used so rarely as his name itself is strong enough.
