stupid ... its like going into france and asking what country is better america or france
bigbasketballs @ 11/19/2015 2:36 PM
If you do this right and include a "too soon" option I'll be glad to vote.

if the draft was today and you had to make a decision. Not if you already know the outcome.

Yup.

Irrational exuberance, IMO.

Give me at least 2 seasons to make this evaluation.

Have to add, though, that after having to draft at #4, the fact that we can even bring this kind of thing up is pretty amazing, even if it is premature.

fitzfarm @ 11/19/2015 2:41 PM
I think towns isgreat but I just think KP is the better franchise player to build around and let's be real if your drafting in the top 5 you need a franchise piece to build around

The premise of the question is how much does 12 games impact your POV.

Too soon is still my answer.

Answering with one of the two options is silly.

fitzfarm @ 11/19/2015 2:44 PM
The question is if you had to make the decision today and had the number one pick KP or Towns?
ChuckBuck @ 11/19/2015 2:44 PM
KP, more versatile. Can guard guards all the way to Center. Better 3 point stroke, will eventually fall at a more efficient rate with experience, timing, and reps. More advanced offensive game with the "Dream Shake" and "Dirk Fallaway"

Projects better in all facets than Towns.

I agree 100% with this

Here's an idea.. why not just enjoy this best-case-early scenario, understanding there will b bumps, without moving to 'ROY/best player in draft/franchise player/free agent magnet/#6 hanging in the rafters in 2035' before Thanksgiving?

Where's the fun in that? Dumb idea.

Knixkik @ 11/19/2015 2:51 PM
The way i see it, both are pretty close as far as overall talent and potential. Towns is more of a sure thing though, he's a little better now and already has a body for the post. I like Porzingis more though, he is just more fun to watch in my eyes, more unique. It would make that decision very hard knowing what we know now.
mreinman @ 11/19/2015 2:54 PM
Nothing wrong with the premise of this thread. Its a lot more fun than talking about so no namer from some small town from nebraska that will never get picked while we don't own any picks

Actual NBA basketball is fun too.

Why measure everything against a fantasy? Likely going to lead to resentment and disappointment.

Nalod @ 11/19/2015 3:05 PM
In all fairness based on the information at the time I would have gone Towns, Okafor then KP.

IN all fairness we need 5 years to sort it out.

Nalod always believes unless you have a transformative "Lebron" type consensus no. 1 pick one should default to the best big available unless the choice is close and your picking by position.
Have to have rules going in to a draft.

No science in the draft. Jordan was taken no. 3. Bowie, Hakeem then Jordan. I you look at the logic it sort of makes sense at that exact moment in time. First off nobody knew Jordan would be a god and Portland had Clyde Drexler. Hakeem was seen as a bit of a project and he was. Same Bowie had a very polished offensive game and was more NBA ready that Hakeem.

Rockets already had Ralph Sampson but the temptation of a Twin Tower was too strong. Pairing Hakeem to do the heavy lifting for Sampson was a great idea!!! Sampson if not injured was a 7'4 Durant.

Nalod was ecstatic when lakers took Russell and we took KP as KP at his height has the upside potential. After 12 games, im not ready to make a call on this draft.

5 years, then we'll talk.

YES! NBA Basketball played the right way is really fun.

KP leads the way for our Knicks, and I couldn't be happier as a fan.

not sure why people are miss reading the intent here. Of course we don't know who will be the better player.

If the draft was today, based on what you have seen through today, who ya got?

RicanHavok @ 11/19/2015 3:22 PM
Love KP but I'd still go Towns.
mreinman @ 11/19/2015 3:36 PM
I would go towns just because I think that KP is a bigger injury risk. If I was guaranteed that neither of them would suffer a serious injury, I would go KP in heart beat. He will change the game while towns will be a solid (more) traditional player.
Bonn1997 @ 11/19/2015 5:38 PM
You'd have to still take Towns. Trading down 1 to 2 to get Porzingis might be worthwhile if you could get some nice assets thrown in though.
