Knicks · Do you think Phil will make a trade before the deaadline (page 1)
knicks1248@ 12/8/2015 1:22 PM
There maybe low expectations for the knicks this season (publically speaking) but I want to believe that each and everybody that's immediately associated with the roster wants to make the playoffs very bad.
We have Zero to gain by not making the playoffs, and everything to gain by making the playoffs.
If phil makes a trade, does it make him look like an impatient President who's pushing the panic button. If he makes a trade and things still don't work, does he then have to take a hard look at the coaching or continue his patients in that dept.
If we're hanging around 500 by the deadline do you make a trade to get us over the hump
If were are 5 games out of the race by the deadline (which would be a lot to overcome in this conference) do you make wholesale changes.
Who do you trade (other than melo, kp, and AA cause that aint happening no matter what)
Is 4 months enough time to evaluate what you got, because it sure did last season
ChuckBuck@ 12/8/2015 1:25 PM
Depends if Phil gets to have a fireside chat with Melo about that lil clause he has in his contract.
I'm hoping by the New Year, Phil has a long meeting with him, and then they can part ways amicably, preferably to Melo's desired destination, and flexible role player contracts and picks back to the Knicks.
mreinman@ 12/8/2015 1:25 PM
of course we will make a trade before the deadline.
Nalod@ 12/8/2015 1:26 PM
What kind of trade? Some mystical made up starphuch that we can think makes sense and Phil is a moron if he don't do it?
Whats the trade? Give up a no. 1 pick to make the playoffs? Whats the players upside? We talking 2018 pick. Right?
BTW, can't fear the future just cuz you can't see it. ENjoy the games, enjoy the moment.
PLayoffs?

why are you jumping off the deep end.
the question was if he will make a/any/some trade.
Maybe he trades Seraphin for another triangle doto ... who knows.
fishmike@ 12/8/2015 1:31 PM
Last year he tried hard for Dragic but said the price was too steep. I think it all depends on who becomes available and what the cost is. Phil doesnt panic, he believes in process and his people and their ability to work it out.
I think Phil has zero interest in quick fixes. If you think he's got pressure there he wouldnt have drafted KP. Unless there is a piece he views as a cornerstone moving forward I dont see it.

It'll either be a smaller move, or a blockbuster trade involving Melo. You can bet Phil has his finger on the trigger to improve the team, especially with the goal posts and expectations sliding closer with KP's rapid development.

I don't know if it will be a deadline deal or not but I do think he will try to get a first round pick

Hopefully Phil is on good terms with Colangelo. I hear the Sixers have a pick or two to spare.

Trading melo for late picks and marginal 2nd tier talent is a stupid and not the way you build a team. Don't think your going to get some 2nd tier talent to come in here and blossom in the triangle or behind the great derek fishers tutelage. Dream on buddy.
Seraphin, and galloway can get us and upgrade in the guard dept

Phil needs to trade Calderon while his efficiency is up.

you trying to tank?

Makes sense. I see Jackson making some change to roster with an eye towards tomorrow whether that be either acquiring a draft pick, a young developing player or clearing more room ala Calderon for a 16-17 free agent. Affalo, Calderon and Seraphan have all raised their trade value somewhat to on the cusp contenders. Galloway and Oquinn might net a marginal return. Wouldnt say Williams is untradeable but wouldnt be easy to move his overpayment. Could see Washington asking about Melo but see him staying put and Phil adding a third player next year via FA

Calderon doesn't help offensively or defensively. What good is great efficiency when your usg is miniscule? To complete matters even more he sucks on Defense and puts everyone on high alert.
Knicks1969@ 12/8/2015 2:08 PM
Phil needs to trade his chosen coach and the starting PG

Williams is at decent value but his player option makes him an unlikely candidate. Hopefully, Calderon and Serephin will trick a team. O'Quinn had put up better numbers than Seraphin but he doesn't have the same freedom to mess up like Kevin.
meloanyk@ 12/8/2015 2:21 PM
Does anyone here like the idea of asking about Kyle Anderson?
Kemet@ 12/8/2015 2:41 PM
Aint nothing change .. Calderon got to GO! The Knicks are a .500 team with Quinn receiving 24 minutes a night

"Preferably to Melo's desired destination"
As opposed to..? The trade Melo is going to accept to the team he doesn't want to go to.
