What do you guys think about Mario Charmler or Jrue Holiday?

Hell no to Kemba. He is a ball dominant player who would clash with Carmelo and Zinger. Hell no

He's the heart and soul of Charlotte's playoffs bound team. Why would they do that.

Jrue Holiday would be a God send for this team as he is young, athletic, can shoot and defend. He can be available since he's been injury prone and Tyreke seems to be a better mesh with Davis and idk if the Pelicans would want to pay him 11 mil to be a backup especially with Ish Smith playing well as a backup but idk if the Knicks have what it takes to trade for him.

so, would you rather have Rondo? and why?

I think that I would pass on both unless Conley will come for cheap which he won't

I see no one else out there, and we can't afford to go through next season without resolving this issue. This is a PG league after all.

they aren't the only two guys on earth and we don't have to play GM since phil will figure out who that could be.

I hope that we find a young up and comer like Joseph. I also would not mind developing our own. I am in no rush to win like you are.

I like Joseph, but if we are going to retain Grant, we must ensure that we have a CAPABLE veteran PG on the roster to teach him the ropes. Calderon is a veteran, but he is not CAPABLE. Whoever that veteran is, he has to be able to come in and contribute positively

Prigioni

I haven't followed Holiday much since he left Philly. Is he healthy? If so he would be a great pick up. Nola was smart to get Ish. Philly really misses him. Early/Jose works for Holiday. Early might find a niche in Nola. It will be interesting to see if Holiday's name comes up in rumors soon.

I liked Holiday before he got hurt. Is he back? My nba watching this year has been limited mostly to the knicks and who they play. I know Ish Smith is on the Pelicans and that the Sixers miss him but that is about it. A healthy Holiday would be a great addition.

Why the Knicks should be patient, take a Batum type in summer of 2016 and then go all in on Russell Westbrook in 2017.

Not sure PHil agrees the PG is the most important.
Rondo is a special athlete and does things many guards can't. Driving his coach nuts is one of them.

ahahahahaha, I agree that he does drive his coaches nuts, but so did Rodman. The triangle does not restrict PGs, it is not one of those systems that asks of a coach to always call plays. So, I see no reason why Rondo would not fit other then his shot making issues. Which is not really an issue, because Rondo makes it a point to attack the basket at all times.

Rodman's issues were mostly off court. Dude has 5 rings. Rondo was guided by strong leadership by three HOF alpha's.

Rondo can't shoot which makes him incompatible in our system.

Rondo can't shoot? How do you explain Calderon's numbers? Phil thought he was perfect for the triangle:)))))))
Rondo: 12.3 ppg, 10.9 apg, 6.8 rpg
Calderon: 7.0 ppg, 3.7 apg, 2.9 rpg

LOL. Just because Rondo is averaging 12.3 PPG does NOT mean he "can shoot". He is an atrocious shooter if he isn't laying it in.

If the Knicks sign Rondo in the offseason I might vomit. He is the antithesis of the types of players we need to build this team. Conley on the other hand is a very good, underrated PG who would be a blessing. I'd love it if we could snag him from Memphis. Im a big fan of his. Rondo is a cancer if he isn't happy and he needs the ball in his hands all the time to be effective. Remember when he got injured in Boston at the tail end of the run they had when the team was more reliant on him as the main guy as Pierce and Garnett were aging rapidly? Their offense improved.

Backcourt needs depth today and tomorrow. Let me digress and lament for a moment, Shved may not have been a trusted outside shooter but he was creative and would have helped our bigs with his passes off drives, besides he was fun to watch. Anyway, I doubt a good trade is available now for a PG upgrade so in your Lance Thomas vein, see what little Atlanta may want for Shelvin Mack. He's 3rd string getting few mins but would allow us to dump Calderon 17' S to a contender without thrushing Grant into heavy action too soon. See what develops and look to see what is available in offseason beyond FA pgs.I had liked Rondo on a one year make good deal but both he and Conley will want security in years and Id rather pursue a younger and versatile asset like Batum and if he's not available then look at fellow Frenchman Evan Fournier who is also young but a lesser version. Like to see Affalo return as well

A smallball lineup of

Westbrook
AA
Batum
Melo
KP

RoLo
Galloway
Grant
& Thomas

is a tough team

A Big Lineup of

Westbrook
AA
Melo
KP
RoLo

Batum
Gallo
Grant
& Thomas

is also a tough 9 man roster.

Also I could see Batum coming to the knicks if they throw all of the 19 mil in cap space this summer at him and promise him Thomas minutes. It might be enough to pry him from the Hornets. On the flip a knicks squad with Batum, Melo, and KP plus a Max would have to be tempting for Westbrook, Especially if they sell him on the promise of being the man on the team while KP continues to develop and Melo exits his prime and he could go full force on Fashion in NY.

herkyJerky @ 12/24/2015 1:50 AM
I would definitely make a move for Conley this summer. If it doesn't work, oh well, at least you tried. I definitely would not make a move for Rondo.

Rondo and Stephenson are both sorry shooters. What is going on?

Those two are worlds apart as pgs/players and should be in different conversations. I like Holiday, he has skills, size and youth. Chalmers is a smallest combo guard with a very average skillset

What's the line on his personality and IQ (?)

He's 6'4" and 25 years old and has a current PER of 19.5.

He's no longer starting in New Orleans . . . recovering from injury . . . and the team is surprisingly bad this year. So maybe there's not a lot of commitment to him there.

He's making $11 million for each of next 2 years. That would be acceptable for what he brings, I would think.

But what could Knicks offer to get him (?)

Only hope might be that the injury makes him a risk and that New Orleans would like to get out from underneath that.

But again: what could Knicks offer (?)

I think you would have to send them Gallo or Grant in some kind of package with Jose. Not sure if that would be smart or not. Last year Shved was just a part of a move to help Pablo get to a contender and the Knicks get picks but he turned out to be a really good fit.

Knicks1969 wrote:One of the most important positions in basketball is the PG spot. Based on what I have seen thus far, it is more than evident that we have a glaring need in that spot. Both Conley and Rondo will be "unrestricted" FA next season; therefore, we will be able to offer one of these dudes a contract.

I like Rondo, mainly because he is an artist on the floor. He defends and rebounds at such a high clip, and the fact that he is a champion is also a reason why I believe we should go after him. However, I am not sure whether Phil will be looking to get a guy who will fit the system (triangle) or a dude that can come in and make plays. Rondo is not known to be able to shoot the ball, but I believe his scoring ability is underrated. This year, he is averaging: 12.3 ppg, 10.9 apg, 6.8 rpg. Out of his play making alone, he is really scoring more than 31 points (12.3 ppg + the points generated from his assists)

Conley too is a nice commodity, he is a dude who has infinite range on the floor and can defend. However, I don't believe he will ever leave Memphis. He is averaging: 15.4 ppg, 6.2 apg.

So, what do you all think?

none of these PGs are coming to the knicks.

If Holiday is healthy, getting him for a package of Gallo or Grant and Calderon would be a absolute steal so it aint happening

I love the idea of Jrue Holiday here. I like his game a lot. He's had a hard time staying healthy though.

But you get the sense that Pelicans team has to majorly restructure at some point soon.
