The nets were super efficient. 52% from the field and 53%!! from 3. Defense was terrible.

It was awful D. I would've liked to see more Langston - he was playing with good energy and playing good D.

Nets are elite rim defenders, AA wanted no part of that. Left him to shoot jumpers, but couldn't get the space he needs because he wasnt going to the rim enough.
He was shooting well tonight though and scoring pretty well inside. I don't think the Knicks ran enough plays for him, or he wasn't aggressive enough getting to his spots. He was letting Wayne Ellington keep him off his spots? Really?
This was a bad loss. The refs were absolutely horrendous, Knicks missed too many FTs... but still... terrible loss. Knicks didn't force their matchup advantages nearly enough. Grant got to the rim at will and didn't do it enough. Afflalo was scoring well from the post and didn't get the ball enough.
Knicks honestly looked like they thought they'd win this and didn't really bring enough intensity. Terrible terrible loss. But again, the refs took this game away from them at the end of the 4th with no calls on the Nets and bad calls on the Knicks. Hell the game started with Rolo blocking Brolo cleanly and refs called a foul. It was so blatantly awful that Brook was laughing.
AA wasnt going to the rim as much as he has lately, Bropez had something to do with it. AA's defender could play him close because he knew Brook was in the paint. There wasnt much room for AA to operate good defensive teams will do that. Doesn't surprise me.
Not alarmed by this loss, but it does show that there is still work to do.

Thought I put up something one time which showed a drop off after a big game by him even if he had a day off between them.
His legs were not there for the 3, IMO. Still, as someone mentioned earlier, he needs to work on squaring up better than he does, and I also think that he does not go up strong enough on many of his interior shots.

Defense was a major problem.
Defense requires both a good scheme and effort. Our effort just was lacking. I'm somewhat understanding of this because of the back to back and the minutes were heavily distributed to a certain 4 players. They were clearly tired. Now add that Melo isn't there to open up the offense and get them easy scores, means they're working harder on offense.
Some have definite playoff hopes, but I never have. I see that as a cherry on the top if everything goes perfect. For all we know, making the playoffs may require winning 25 of the next 41 which will be very tough.
I just want the younger players like Porzingis (20), Williams (24), Grant (23), Galloway (24) do well in the Triangle, play better as the season goes on and Melo to play team ball. We're seeing exactly that. Williams is truly looking like the Knicks added a #2 pick from the draft. Grant has shown some promise. Galloway is solid. So to me anything above 35 wins is very good, so long as Porzingis, Williams, Galloway and Grant get minutes, play well and can be part of something moving forward with Melo next season.
The way DWill is playing, you're seeing why he was drafted #2. And we got this guy without a lottery pick, by a smart FA pick up. Lots of people say the Knicks don't have young talent that they added a ton of vets and it's KP mainly. I disagree. KP is 20, the youngest with the most potential. However Williams, Galloway and Grant are all 23 or 24. Their primes are just about to start and they can still get better. We're seeing that with Williams right now. The Knicks got to keep these young guys and Melo, then add some more pieces via free agency in the summer. We add 1-2 more important pieces like Lopez (in prime Center) via free agency only at the perimeter (where we need the talent now) and we'll be set for a good 2-3 year consecutive playoff run - and a possibility more.

this was easily a winnable game... i think we should have gone really big instead of 3 guard...more KOQ more Seraphin...just outmuscle their guys... keep the Bigs legs fresh...bad call by Fisher
