Knicks · What happens if Melo wants out now? (page 1)

EnySpree @ 2/8/2016 1:34 PM
I'm not worried either way.... the Knicks will get great compensation. First team to call would be the Clippers....second team is Miami.
mreinman @ 2/8/2016 1:35 PM
melo needs to hit some shots to get his value up. Going 4 for 16 every night is not gonna cut it.
nyk4ever @ 2/8/2016 1:37 PM
maybe phil and his fiance can work out a trade?

roy hibbert, brandon bass, lakers #1 for melo?

More than that, he has to pass a team physical in a trade. What another team's doctor opinion might be could be vastly different then the Knicks ones.

not a bad trade for both sides but the lakers post kobe will look to get younger.

His value is low at this point because of the knee...you will need a healthy rest of the season to get value for him if you want to trade him.

why would melo want out NOW? lol

definitely the prevailing thought and what they SHOULD do is get younger and continue the rebuild. i just wonder if the lakers can help themselves though.

There is zero chance to win here?

callmened @ 2/8/2016 2:00 PM

What has changed though? The firing of fisher has no effect on his opinion of this team. If anything, it will make him want to stay and have a say in the coaching decision.
EnySpree @ 2/8/2016 2:14 PM
I'm ok with the Knicks going forward with Melo. It's about the culture anyway. I get that. Fisher was fired because of that. Melo had been great this year in that regard.

Phil and Melo could have a talk about that same culture. The Knicks nor Carmelo would get screwed in a trade though. So it's a win if he stays or leaves.

Finestrg @ 2/8/2016 2:20 PM
If he wants out, I would willingly look to trade him. No brainer--we're not winning a championship with this guy. I hope they come to that realization soon... Even if he doesn't come out and say so, I'd still look for trade scenarios to run by him. I could see something with the Clippers to go play with his buddy Paul possibly.

i agree. but why would he want to leave NOW?

did he have a close bond with fisher where he would be mad at this decision?

No one is touching Melo and his knees with a 10ft poll certainly not LAC. They are not giving us Blake. I used to think Washington, Charlotte, Houston, Dallas, PHX, Miami or Orlando but not after this latest string of knee issues

Well that's certainly the one team dumb enough to even consider it

Is that right? I didn't know that...That doesn't count against the cap though, does it? Just s bonus unrelated to the cap I hope.

callmened @ 2/8/2016 2:24 PM
nope not against the cap. just simply a check he collects as a "reward" for getting traded

What makes you think he can win with the Lakers. He's better off playing with KP then Russell

callmened @ 2/8/2016 2:26 PM
but wait a second...im still trying to find the connection between firing fisher and melo wanting to leave. lol

to me nothing has changed...unless, melo really really really wanted fisher here (doubt that)
