Gross. Bobby Portis is good but not so good that I'd give up Melo and take back Rose. They'd need to come correct and pony up Nikola Mirotic, Doug McDermott AND Tony Snell. They are ALL having down years BUT have the potential to get better, which is appealing. Not to mention that they are locked into low value contracts for several seasons, which affords us the opportunity to acquire other assets via cap space. For that opportunity, I'd keep Jose Calderon to allow the Bulls the opportunity to pursue Mike Conley via free agency. That should balance out the utility of the trade for both teams.

I'm betting on that front court long term. The rest is filler.

He's not going to Sacramento. They'd still suck with him and are in a no-name city. Besides, what about Sacramento's management inspires confidence?

Melo has to agree to go to the team he is traded to. Why would he go to Sacramento?

I think he'd go to the Clippers or Bulls or Heat or Wizards. Maybe a few other teams, but not too many others.

You are right. Except I think the Clips and Heat can't handle the trade kicker. Not sure if it is waivable.

If the Heat send more salaries back in return or get a 3rd team involved, they could stand to save a fuck-ton of cash in a Melo deal. When you're dealing max contracts like that, you have even more wiggle room with salaries.
