Knicks · Melo getting closer to reconsidering Knicks future (page 1)

crzymdups @ 2/12/2016 9:12 PM

Anthony’s mood turned sharp when asked about the prospect of the Knicks missing the playoffs for a third straight season. He made the playoffs in his first 10 seasons — eight of them in Denver.

“That doesn’t sit well with me,’’ Anthony said Friday during an All-Star Weekend press conference. “To reflect a little about that, it’s tough. To think about that, to know that it can be three years if we don’t pick it up right away. I try not to think about it right now. In actuality, you have to start thinking about that eventually.’’

Asked if would he have to also think about his Knicks future, Anthony, who has a no-trade clause, gave an interesting response.

“Not yet. Not yet. Not yet,’’ Anthony said. “I’m pretty sure I’ll have that conversation with myself, my family, my team [agents]. That’s not a conversation right now.’’

That seemed a little different view than his training-camp message: “I’m here to stay.’’

I love Melo. For the first time I think it might be really time to think about moving on without him. It might be better for him, too.

Seems like he is getting closer to the same realization. Sounds like he's thinking after this season, over the summer, not like next week.

But this summer, I bet they talk about a trade with Melo and maybe the Clippers.

all i can say about this is....that chick in the right is badddddddddddddddd. wow
gunsnewing @ 2/12/2016 9:21 PM
Boohoo. He wanted max money. Take the money and please don't tell us about how disappointed you are to miss the playoffs 3 straight years. We wouldn't have Targeted, Calderon, Affflalo, Jason Smith, Quincy Acy, Sam Dalembert, Serafin & KOQ if we had real money to lure top free agents. We probably could've drafted another significant young player to help him if he didn't force his way here to begin with
gunsnewing @ 2/12/2016 9:24 PM
and we would've had the assets to get him some real help when he first got here at 27-28yrs old

Just saw this on twitter. The rumor is credited to Isola.
The Daily News has learned that the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers have discussed a blockbuster trade centered around Kevin Love. There were very preliminary discussions about expanding the deal to include the Knicks and Anthony, who would have to waive his no-trade clause in order to facilitate a deal to the Cavs.

The Knicks would receive draft picks and players in return. One of those players is believed to be Timofey Mozgov, who five years ago was traded by the Knicks to Denver in the Anthony deal.

If this happened the Knicks could look to move Lopez for a nice package.

Isola's headline implies that but in the article he says Melo would have to waive his no trade clause for the deal to happen. I don't know if there is anything to it but I am sure LBJ is working Melo if Isola's rumor is real and not fabricated.

If they came to MELO with this deal he'd be a fool not to take it. It makes all kinds of sense for all involved.

yeah its time to move on for both sides. I give melo credit for this season but we could use the picks and cap space to build around KP. Melo doesnt have much time left with his knee so he gets to play with lebron and probably will get a ring

I think it s worthy of its own thread.

I think we will hear about ten different Melo rumors this weekend and before the trade deadline.

I think it is time.

I don't know why, but for some reason the Fisher firing makes it feel like it is time.

There could be a feeding frenzy for MELO! He's the one guy that is out there for a playoff team to add in order to give them a better shot to win a title.

Awesome here we go! When was the last time we made a trade that favored us? This would be the first. Draft picks and an excellent backup C? Timmy is a legit C unlike KOQ & Serafin. KP/Lopez/Timmy?? Draft picks and unlimited cap space?????? Hellz yea sign me up baby!!!!!!

Yeah, he could take either the Clippers or the Cavs up a notch to maybe get them on the level of the Warriors - or closer to that level.

I said before this is the best time to trade Melo - it really is. For team building, etc. But also because he will be at a PREMIUM price right now.

Lopez & Calderon for Monroe & MCW. Problem is Kidd would laugh at that proposal. We won't get much for Lopez. Maybe a Chalmers type and a late 2nd Rd pick

Fisher's firing makes the situation in ny seem dysfunctional again. The allegations about messing around with his players' women makes his firing more understandable. But it still feels like another reset. Melo is too good and too old for that. It might be the best thing for all parties. However, I think Melo is very underrated here by some and moving him is a huge risk.
